Ural Motorcycle: 3-Up on 3 Wheels! Sidecar Fun in France

  • In today's video, i'm giving Daisy a brief break, and taking an old friend from last year, the Red "Try Me" Ural from Original Garage in Caen, for a spin! She was a bit tired and needed a bit of TLC compared to last year, but still a good deal of fun, taking her for a spin out to Pegasus Bridge. Still not a fan of the pillion seat though, would need some grab handle's like the kind photographer's Ural had 😅

Not sure which looked more terrifying. Parachuting in to take a heavily defended Pegasus bridge in 1944, or approaching it at speed as a pillion passenger on a Ural with a rookie pilot.

Man that is sketchy! I see zero potential for a sidecar in my life but I said that about a RE Classic until I bought one and MAN...what fun!

I had a 1970 KMZ 750,basically the same as a Ural,I rode it all the time without passengers,It was very hard work, having to lean in and out when turning certainly gave me an upper body work out.I'll be going to the Normany beaches this year a week after the 80th D-day commemorations with some mates all on 50's and 60's bikes,I;ll be on my 59 BSA B31.

Funnily enough, I did almost the exact sequence of visits exactly a year ago. My aim was to visit a small memorial at Lion Sur Mer, just a few Km along the coast from Ver Sur Mer and Arromanches. the reason being to honour a relative who was amongst the casualties when a landing craft headquarters ship hit a mine on the 25th June 1944. The search for the wreckage has been made into a book and TV program by the WWII archeologist John Henry Phillips. I also knew the WWII veteran Harry Billinge but the main reason for the pilgrimage was to honour my 2nd cousin, Geoffrey Dunkerley whose name is inscribed on pillar 74 at Ver Sur Mer.

If ever I think, a sidecar would be nice. I can watch this and get my head straight again. Looks pretty terrifying to me. Great video again.

Have you ridden a Ural? What do you think of them? I'm still a big fan, just won't be sitting pillion again unless there's grab handles 😂

Never ridden one but I'd take a test ride if I could. I don't know of any motorcycle dealerships here in the states that offer test rides.

I bought a Dnepr MT16 (similar to ural) the unique thing about it is that is has 2wd via a differential so it doesnt experience the throttle steering as a 1wd. It is a blast to ride. Done 200km on/off road with it taking turns to drive it with my dad. It will drive through anything. I have imported it to Ireland from Poland and in my free time I am working to restore it cosmetically.

Мой Урал 1994 года. Установил ручку переключения скоростей на бак. Это очень удобно когда прихожится проезжать глубокие лужи и грязь. Можно поднять ноги и переключать скорость правой рукой.

Id love a go with a sidecar. Not so keen on riding as passenger though 🫣 I can see me kitting Ernie out with a sidecar and getting a dog one day 🐶
What a great experience for you and a great watch for us 🙂

Never a fan if the Urinal .... a buddy had a 2019.... rode it to Sturgis (600 miles) and it ate the crank... $900.oo U Haul truck rental. Another buddy was looking for a sidecar set up. The Urinal's are in the $20,000.oo range new...used ones can be found but the sticker shock remains. I have a Bullet 500 (2010) with a Cozy sidecar.. had my buddy look at the " performance " of the Urinal Vs a 500 with a sidecar... and the cost difference... He's a very happy Bullet 500 sidecar rider ... he also purchased a RE Himmy and a RE Bullet 500..solo. 😎

That’s a shame 😅 from that story I can see why you have given it that nickname 😂 the Bullet 500 does look great with a sidecar, I’ve seen a few for sale in Ireland.

Can you still buy the Ural sidecar motorcycles in September 2023? After all, the Ural plant is in Russia and the West is currently sanctioning itself to death.

@@BulletWanderer The migrants understand deadly force. Without that, the attacks on France and its people will continue.
