- Going from newbie to full rally mode on the Ural adventure sidecar was one hell of a ride. This is the full experience with myself and hubby known as Ruckymonster aka Alex heading to Portugal for the O Nosso Dakar Rally. It was mayhem! Dusty, exhausting, fun. I call Alex my monkey but the reality is that he is as much in control of the sidecar as me once you start adding pace. Couples that play together It's my second time in a sidecar and hubby's first 🤪 Learning together 🤞
Ural Motorcycles Portugal are well worth checking out if you fancy a sidecar experience - I highly recommend kicking out stereotype expectations and giving the chariots a go! It's sporty and FUN!!! 💪

Idk.. being a Russian I have ridden them a lot in my childhood :) then I moved to regular 2-wheelers, but now I'm considering getting an Ural again. The sidecar experience is absolutely outstanding.
Being a Russian myself, I rode Ural sidecar from 1999 until 2012 in the UK. I only sold it because my wife refused to be a passenger in a sidecar and I found it a bit wierd riding it with 6 bricks in a sidecar approaching a roundabout to make sure I don't flip it... Happy days..

Here in Sweden we call the "monkey" burkslav - which translates to "tin (or can) slave". I kind of like monkey better.
From where I sit - safe at my desk - it looks like your monkey Alex is doing a bloody good job at it. And I bet he will be at least as tired as you when all is said and done.

Almost 50 years on a dirt bike. Saw a Ural at a State fair in the mid 1980's and loved it. My Mrs and I picked up a used Ural 18 months ago and we love it. Not much off road but I'm impressed with your trip. Your hubby sure played an active part running the sidecar!
I'm.sure there's a place for one of those coffee machines on the side car! Loved the hanging off the sides. Looked like a proper white knuckle ride 👌 🤣

Always wanted a sidecar even as a kid, eventually got one and love the madness that is sidecar driving. When you use the throttle to take a roundabout and get it right it’s addictive. Would love a reverse but my Bandit doesn’t have one!! Right leg will have to do!
Amazing country, amazing ride. Luckily you work together well on the Ural, in unison. That's so important, ask my wife.

Vanessa, very good video and well done on getting round the course. A great plug for sidecars! I've driven sidecars for over thirty years and prefer my combination for touring because you can enjoy more of the scenery than on a solo. Off-road, however, is fun but I can't go fast ( I've covered many miles of tracks in the Alps) because mine is a 1975 BMW road bike - but that means more time to enjoy the scenery!

I ride a Ural Gear Up, and while it’s my favorite bike of my lifetime, they certainly aren’t for everyone.
They are extremely physically demanding (MUCH more than a dual-sport), and they truly ARE “like wrestling a drunken grizzly bear.”
They also require the dedication & practice to acquire a completely different set of riding skills that have to be constantly polished.

getting more respect for the sidecars, lot of working together. as a solo driver on a dirt bike track... i was not happy, when there are sidecars. differant lines on the track, destroing the track , always in the way🤫, but i am jealous on you..... do everything what is possible...💪

Fantastic adventure Vanessa well done to you and your great “”Monkey” 👍 finally after 15 years of wanting a motorcycle and sidecar I got a 2013 Ural Bondi which I love and yes totally different to riding a motorcycle lol 😂

sorry for the slow reply! She is great, had to be rescued but has a new mission for 2023, rowing around the UK...which is even harder! She's mental!! haha
Looks like fun, most folks, wouldn't buy anything from Russia currently so sort of very bad timing to advertise a Ural I suspect.
