- Jeff Loomis highlights the powerful sound of his Noumenon™ Signature Humbucker Pickup Set, combining the dynamic range of passive humbuckers with modern metal power. Available now on Seymour Duncan's website:
www.seymourdun...
Before active pickups like his signature Blackouts® became synonymous with Jeff Loomis’ sound in Nevermore, Arch Enemy and his solo work, Jeff’s foundational experiences in sculpting his highly influential metal tone were forged by passive humbuckers, bought from guitar catalogues in the 1980s. The Noumenon™ Signature Humbuckers call back to those formidable years, as Jeff wanted an option to achieve the dynamics and control that passive pickups offer.
The 6-string Noumenon™ set is built with Alnico 8 magnets, providing high output and thick bass, while maintaining a smooth treble response. The 7-string set is built with Alnico 5 magnets, necessary for maintaining tight low end and sharp attack. All Jeff Loomis Noumenon™ Signature Humbuckers are available with triangular feet bottom plates for standard humbucker routes and direct mounting in Jeff’s signature guitars.

I love that Jeff played Conquering Dystopia material ❤
Yeah man, I think I have to go revisit that album :)
@@MercutioUK2006 By pure coincidence I'm listening to it again these days, good tech metal work!
@@alessioturturiello Also digging Zero Order Phase, he's such a great player.
Fuck yeah! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I like how those songs have become a benchmark for Duncan metal playing lol
Jeff sounds so much better with passive pickups.
What a great set.
I thought with 707 and ENGL Powerball first one he sounded the most brutal possible. :) This has more mid material and crunch, but previous was extremely mean and heavy machinery. :)
Placebo
@@DadoSimicStudiostriver I agree
EVERYONE does
@Lenser First and foremost they're trying to sell a product. That being said, he still seems genuine about his opinion on this set. In the video he even states he prefers active for recording. Will these be his go to? Probably not. I personally prefer passive pick ups, so I'm definitely willing to give these a try. Placebo though? I think not lol
Jeff Loomis + Seymour Duncan + Jackson guitars - what more can you ask for?
NOPE...Loomis is EMG707 + ENGL POWERBALL ..GIGAN MONSTER TONE🔥🤘🏻
Engl fireball 100W 🔥
Jeff = Schecter to me. But I like Jacksons better. Especially a decent 7 string Kelly.
You know what's cooler and more kick ass than his playing? He is actually one of the nicest musicians you can meet!! He's one of us, that was fortunate enough to make it!!! This gentleman is a musicians musician!!!
I looooove the name is a callback to Nevermore. Always been a massive fan of his work in all his bands but Nevermore was special.
I miss Nevermore… also, Jeff's Miles of the Machine is my fave. It's great to know that He was also inspired by the Maestro Yngwie Malmsteen and EVH. Those are the best. Cheers.🤘
Imagine Vog and Loomis writing a album together.
Or with Wes Hauch!
Why not all 3? Vogg has probably the most effortless looking picking hand I’ve seen. Even after standing 5 feet in front of Loomis and just analyzing everything I could…… Some of that rhythm work from Winds of Creation and Nihility is just wicked….. and Wes Hauch rules too.
@@ShredForthanother record with Merrow is also a must!
I want a full record of Ihsahn and Loomis.
Jeff sounds so wholesome when he speaks lol. You expect this kind of grit to him and instead he’s like warm bread. My favorite scene of him is when he’s trying to figure out the fist bump with Tony Macalpine hahaha.
Met Jeff when he toured with conquering dystopia in 2015 and he’s the nicest guy. He deserves ALL of the pickups.
Please start another NEVERMORE like project man!! I really miss those type of songs!
I remember seeing them open for megadeath many years ago.Never heard of them.My jaw was on the floor. So much talent in that band.
Absolutely 👌
I see Jeff Loomis i click like!
Noumenon is a criminally underrated track on Enemies of Reality. That whole album in very underrated overall, a shame it went through production and label hell and didn't survive as well as it deserved to
I agree - That remaster is beautiful though!
Enemies of Reality is one the greatest albums of all time.
I just put this set in an Ibanez RG7620 and they sound great (thought my Mesa Mark IV) super tight riffing but still "liquidy when playing lead.
I always use the opening riff to "Ambivalent" to see if a pickup is tight enough or a mud mess, this one is crystal clear. the neck pick up is not muddy at all but not shrill either, Duncan did a great job on these :)
Jeff, comes straight out with some Conquering Dystopia for your face!
Jeff Loomis's first 2 solo albums are some of the best guitar work I've heard of. I'd kill to see him play live with Chris Broderick and Nevermore again.
Jeff is the GOAT
Man, I really miss Nevermore. 🥺Great work Jeff! 🤘
The almighty Loomis. Hope to hear some new solo work from him soon, guy's a genius
Damn the active pickups are what kept me from buying the signature guitar, hopefully we see the update made to the production models soon
Those are some amazing sounding pickups. I love how heavy and growly it is, yet still very clear. I can hear all of the notes.
Still to this day, this guy's playing is fresh as a lobster!
Impressive sound for a passive pick up!!And of course, Jeff's mastery behind them!!
Playing is always super clean
One of the best modern metal guitarists out there, and I'm glad he finally left Arch Enemy because it seemed like he was stifled into a very predictable and formulaic approach with them. They never let him play as much as they should've, too. Here's to hoping he goes on to making better music than that in the future!
Honestly, I like Arch Enemy but Mike and his songwriting were holding Jeff back from his potential
I was glad Jeff played a little Nevermore, This Sacrament 3:35 from The Politics of Ecstasy.
3:35 This Sacrament!! Haven't seen him play this one in a while! 😁
I wish that this Set was also custom shop to have the choice to maintain the cover on the bobbins like his first set as an option. His pickups are also unique to his playing style and articulation and this is what I love about the legendary Jeffrey Loomis,Guitar God since his High School days!!!🤘🏽🙏🏽

Interesting that he went with passives, after playing active pickups for so long.
Oh an I concur, new Conquering Dystopia album would be awesome.
I always wished Jeff had a set of passive pickups because my guitars are set up with passive. Always loved his sound with active pickups, and Jeff Loomis is my favorite guitarist, and Nevermore is my all-time favorite band. When I get new pickups, I'll definitely be getting these, for sure.
(Brazil 🇧🇷) pickups Jeff loomis 👀🫵🦻😬👍🤘 pickups monsters.
Jeff is such a beast man, love all his work.
Wow a metal guitarist not using EMG or Fishman for once
I have his 6 & 7 string Blackouts, can't wait to try these out!!! I love the Blackouts, I've owned just about every set!!!
Awesome! Sounds killer!!! Looking forward to your solo album!!! 😎
Jeff you're such a legend. I've been learning a handful of songs from This Godless Endeavor. Super fun and very nostalgic for me.
Always listened to his music but this is the first time I hear him talk.
thx for the video .. never forget the really nice master class in Germany Guitar Summit .. it was really interesting and really cool to meet you in person
Jeff is such a Monster
I hope someone from SD product development sees this:
The biggest reason I favor active pickups in 7 string guitars is metal oriented 7 string guitars are generally not set up for the diverse wiring options that passive pickups offer.
As an example, Jeff's guitar here only has one volume knob. Like most 7 string guitars, Jeff's guitar is also not set up for pickup rings. The only way to use diverse wiring options is to drill holes into the body for more push/pull pots and mini toggle switches.
I really don't want to do those modifications. So, if the series mode of a pickup is the only mode I'm going to use, I might as well just use an active pickup.
To use a 4 conductor passive pickup in series only wastes so much of the pickup potential.
If 7 string guitars were offered in pickup ring versions that used 7 string Triple Shot mounting rings, I would be much more interested in passive 7 string pickup designs.
In that kind of setup, I could use all four conductors of the passive pickup instead of just its series wiring mode.
I realize there is not much of an incentive for SD to make 7 string Triple Shot mounting rings because so few 7 string guitars come with pickup rings, but if SD did make a 7 string Triple Shot, I'd be much more interested in 7 string passive pickups.
We have yet to bridge the gap between 7 string guitars and the complex wiring mods of traditional Strats. Someone needs to work on merging those worlds.
Bro just drill the holes, it’s not super difficult and as long as you measure twice it’s hard to fuck up.
@@Eliphas_Elric Most luthiers would recommend buying a stand up drill press for this. Table mounted drill presses would not be sufficient. It's not worth the cost of the press just to drill 8 holes each in a few guitars.
Additionally if you use the wrong screw type and direction you can damage the paint and crack the finish, especially for guitars with arch tops and sculpted bodies.
Edit: Even then there is not a 7 string Triple Shot. Last I checked with SD, they will not make you one at the custom shop. This is probably because the Triple Shots are manufactured overseas and imported.
noumenon - now thats a song i havent heard in a long while! long live NEVERMORE
Jeff is a Beast.
Jeff Loomis is so brilliant, he doesn’t know it himself. These pups are really interesting.
I might have to give these pickups a try. Jeff got me interested in Schecter guitars. Only found out about Jeff since 2012 maybe. Very late to the game as Nevermore had already broken up by then. I adore Jeff’s playing he’s a generational talent in my opinion.
Jeff - please release an updated signature Jackson with these and stainless frets. Instant buy from me
Tell Jackson not Jeff
Love the tones I'm hearing! Man, I want to put these in my ESP E-II Horizon FR-7!
I dig the chirping pick sound on the pick attacks, you can actually bring this out in EQ with the 8kHz just bump it up +1.1db.
That guitar is SO sick looking
Loomis playing passives and has his own?! BRB, just gotta buy one real quick…
When I see Jeff, it's an instant thumbs up! 🤟❤
Jeff Loomis is my Metal Guitar Hero.
His signature strings are killer, nevermore, zero order phase and conquering dystopia are amazing albums from jeff
What a legend.
I'm all over this... Thanks Jeff for this
I wish a 7 string Kelly with fixed bridge an the new Noumenon passiv pickups. 😍
Those Jackson guitars though! They look so cool! And it sounds amazing too!
YEAAAH FINALLY...IT GOES BRING BACK THAT HUGE NEVERMORE GIGANTIC SOUND🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤩🤩🤩🤘🏻
Bill L. was my Drummer in Bellingham for a minute.
YETI.
We had some killer tunes.
Conquering Dystopia album must be released on CD as well
Such amazing sounding pickups!
The top guys in this genre are: Romeo, Petrucci, Loomis, and Louriero.
Nice pickups. I only use passive.
Romeo, Petrucci suck. 😂😂😂 other two are fine.
@@ClinicalDecisionYikesYT You must be high. Clown talk. 🤡
Jeff's riffs are so sickie!! \m/
Eu amo Nevermore ❤
Please make Conquering Dystopia's material great again! Give us the second one!!!
His Jackson Models are the hottest looking Metal Guitars 🔥🙌🔥
Sounds very much like the SH-4….I love those pickups to death
I have to say the pickups sound great, but I don't like that chirpness up in the highs. I've seen in a Facebook post he swapped his ultex sharp for a 2.0mm flow pick. Probably the noisiest of all picks regarding to chirp. If the pickup is voiced to accentuate even more that noise... Not my cup of tea.
The man knows how to get the tone right for sure, and I'm glad it works for him.
Can you and Keith get another Conquering Dystopia Albumn? Its my favorite of all time!!
JEFF IS SOOOO AMAZING!🤘🤪
Great Jeff
sounding killer Jeff, these look great!
Yes, but will a Jackson Jeff Loomis model be released with these pickups?
what a legend
That Jeff's a hell of a picker.
I usually dont like musicians to be this pretentious. Yea i just noodled 10 hours a day as a toddler so im pretty much god. Now i play basic power chords in arch enemy. But seriously.....Loomis earned that lol conquering distopia is amazing. Glad hes not stuck in arch enemy anymore. He truly is one of the greats
Man Jeff still sounds so surgically precise
Jeff, killer bro, killer!!
Sounds pretty great!
The riff master in a dead world ❤
Ok, another set I need to try 😅
Bro out here playing Hauchian solos, I could not ask for anything more. 😫
I wanna listen to a new nevermore Album..
Teasing new Conquering Dystopia stuff I see.
I wouldn’t mind a new solo, Conquering Dystopia, or even a team-up with Chris Broderick album.
Jeff Loomis 🐐🍻🤘
I see JL.. I hit like. That being said his blackouts sound better to my taste.
How do these compare to the Blackouts? And will they be standard issue on Jeff's signature Jackson?
Sounds heavy as F#cK!! Great tone 😎👍
What a monster holy jesus. 😳
Ok Jeff COOL Jackson..👍😁🇧🇷
These sound lush.
Mystery solved! That ring on right hand for sure is some sort of picking accelerator!
Sadly you don't ship to Austria 😢 and my local guitar store don't have them..
I need that seven-string model in a non-Floyd model.
Super aggressive, fuck yeah. I might grab me some🙏
Awesome!! ❤
I miss Nevermore 😥
Super curious to know which duncans he had in his 'b' guitar
JB 0R DIST0RTI0N ID GUESS!
This what i say since 20 years. But the trend say what to buy.
Jeff seems like the nicest guy in all of metal. Just got done revisiting Inflames discography a couple weeks of ago and I wish he would put together his own band. The first 3 or 4 Inflames albums are classics but I just shake my head at what they have chosen to do with the last 20 years of their career. I'm sorry Jeff but your amazing talents are not being utilized in a band like that. Best wishes to You and Inflames.
Something special happened when jeff and Keith made that album. For the record I feel keith merrow is one of the best metal rhythm guitarists out there.
