As an INFP that has been downsized, outsourced, furloughed, etc. in MANY jobs. I found it wasn't so much the job responsibilities that mattered in the long haul. It was how the company treated its employees, and the cultures of the companies. Skill sets are secondary to the environment is my stance. We are highly adaptable, we can perform well, picking up different skill sets, what we can't tolerate is bait & switch job descriptions, lying & misrepresentation, and being UNDERPAID for our contribution to the company.

As an INFP and former teacher, I would say avoid this as a profession. It is so draining and the burn out rate is very high. I'm now 51 years old and no idea what to do with the rest of my life. I wish I had chosen something else early in my life. Like something in the arts.

INFP and student teacher in ECE now… You are 100% right about how physically and emotionally draining this profession is. At least here in New Zealand I feel that teachers are undervalued, underpaid and unappreciated.

Agreed! I am an INFP and a middle school teacher. It absolutely is not a thriving environment for INFP's. Responsibility is high, you have high stress from 3 sides; students, parents and administration, the state/government has made it so you have little to no support... I could go on with 10-15 other things. I can't keep doing it. I am not returning next school year.

I’m an INFP and work in accounting (which I don’t like at all). Studied elementary education and felt overwhelmed and ineffective every time I had to stand in front of a group of students. Currently considering pursuing a master’s degree in SLP, but although it meets all my career and personal needs, I can’t seem to be 100% convinced. Would very much appreciate some feedback and advice!

I’m INFP too. Take the free online Hollands Careers Interests test. INFP tend to be high investigative and artistic interests first, followed by social. Holland test result will list ideal careers for your interests.

It's so ridiculous that every list mentions careers/jobs that won't pay the bills. Sorry but intjs, entjs, estjs, or istjs aren't the only ones who have lucrative money making abilities. Tired of all of the stereotypes that we only can have jobs aligned with our values that pay little!

I also found it frustrating. most list are like this. on one hand it does align with infp , but its really not well paid job. so whats your suggestions and list then?

Honestly, self employment seems the best way to go if you are a self-starter and an INFP. I think counseling and teaching can be well-paid if you have the interest in guiding others, know that the pay is not immediately satisfying, and enjoy the independence of making your own schedule. Health, fitness, and job coaching and other helping roles lend themselves to decent pay, too. INFPs tend to be creative, and if digital media is interesting to you, website design, user experience, and social media design are other attractive options. If you like art + crafts making and selling them like jewelry making, t-shirt design, and creating home knick-knacks are other possibilities. Research is another good one. People pay others to research more than I realized. While others hate research, others like me and many others love doing it. Why not get paid for it? These are some of the things I've been looking into lately. Maybe they resonate with you and maybe they don't. Like many investments, these take time in that building clientele and a base will not happen overnight and the financial rewards tend to come later but not giving up is important especially if you are passionate about it (one of INFP's super strengths). I know because of other people's experiences. I think it's best to stay away from any role that is bureaucratic, rigid, and stifling to creativity. Many office environments and on-demand productivity jobs are like that. It never fares well if you are more contemplative and introverted as INFPs tend to be. Another thing, I've been told that a fulfilling, well paid job role happens when a person turns their passion and likes into a service or a product that fills a need in the market and the community-at-large. It is simple enough but now let's make it tangible. Last but not least, taking continuing education courses can open up a new skill and a new job or career. I hope this helps. Cheers and good luck!🎉💪🏻💯
