You guys helped me with my 2nd gen tacoma, bought 6112's front and 5160's rear with add a leaf, awesome set up, but I had to lower the clip a bit, the pre-load was a bit too much and gave me an extremely rough ride and next to zero downtravel/sag. I actually agree with this. Got a pair at 2 inches, and it's stiff. I got the second pair for my second tacoma at 1,75, and even that made a difference. Maybe when I have time I'll definitely lower the two inch ones to 1.5 and get a taco lean spacer for a little extra height.

I have the Bilstein 6112s, UCR & 5160s combo on my 21 Trailboss 6.2l. I also have black sumo springs in the rear. I tow my tow hauler and this set up and is perfect and rides good. I did keep stock height in the front and put lowering shackles in the rear. Didn't want to lift it but wanted it leveled. BUT the stock fuel tank sucks for towing, 24 gallon tank.... @ShockSurplus yeah man I'm going full set up probably with springs and upper control arms. Can I still run those on my model truck with a puck level kit?
Could you install these at the lowest setting to just level the truck and not need a new UCA? I want to level my 2020 sierra 1500 SLT but would like the option to lift it up to 3.5 in in the future. This seems like a good bang for your buck way of doing so, if i'm not wrong.
Yes you could leave it at the lowest setting to not affect the ride height. But even the top setting on these shocks dont require a UCA, so you're in the clear either way.
So, if I wanted to get closer to the 3" on my 2024 rst z-71 I can run the 47-309524 fronts? Great videos! I was planning on Fox again but want to try something less expensive and I have had Bilstein in the past
there's generally no 2" shock like the fox 2.0 or bilstein 5100 or eibach shock that will get you 3" of lift from the coilover alone. If you're just after lift height, you could go 2" on a lifted strut or coilover, then put a +1" strut spacer.
@ShockSurplus Perfect timing on this video. I just purchased the 2024 RST Z71 and will be ordering this kit from you guys. Even though the Bilstein or Icon UCA are not required per your video, should there be any real longevity benefit to adding one? Is one brand better or more reliable then the other?
I have a 2019 Silverado 1500 RST with the Z71 package. Looking for improved suspension performance and maybe a 2" front level. The only off road that this truck sees is the occasional dirt road. I have never really liked the ride quality of the stock Ranchos. They don't seem to control the truck all that well. What shocks would I be most interested in?
These aren't as soft as the Fox, a tad more control. Where these excel over Fox would be in the harder hits, the faster offroad stuff, and overall handling. Fox likely wins on comfort depending who you ask, but these Bilstein win on not needing service like the Fox do.

Initially I was thinking of putting 5100s on all 4 corners but now I’m thinking of pairing 6112s with 5100 rears. Interested in your thoughts. Thanks
On pavement both shocks are going to feel nearly identical, the 6112 may provide slightly more support/handling with a lot of extra gear. On the dirt at identical speeds, the 6112 will maintain composure a bit more on those unexpected obstacles. But if you're rarely offroad, i'm guessing its mostly fireroads and easy trails at lower speeds, and in that case, you wont see any real benefit from the 6112. The 5100s will make a big difference from your factory shocks, so i'd go that route. If you find the front end bucking too much from moderate offroad hits, or too sloppy up driveways/highway joints/etc, then the 6112 may be the better choice.

@shocksurplus tire name?
Mainly fire roads and some towing. 6112s or eibachs?
Eibach!
I have a 6.5” lift by Zone, my rear shocks are gone. What do you recommend to replace them. 2017 Z71 1500.
Some extended length Bilstein 5100, or Fox 2.0, both will be better than the zone kit shocks.
@@ShockSurplus Thank you
