    This was a really well done video. Thank you for taking the time to make it.

    2:52 the best time to break the axle nut loose is when the tire is mounted and on the ground. Just pop out the center tab, or put a on a tire with the center cap popped out. Mount the tire, use a hub socket, probably with an extension, and it should be easy work with a breaker bar 👍

    9:40 do *NOT* use the ebrake to tighten the axle. This can potentially glaze the ebrake shoes if they’re not properly adjusted to the inner rotor.
    Just get it tight enough, mount a tire to torque with a center hub cap popped out. Set the car back on the ground, chock the wheel(s) in the torque direction, and torque the axle nut. 😅

    Did you replace the Master Cylinder and the proportioning valve? From what I read in the forums, there is a difference in the brake bias that a disc/drum setup has vs a converted disc/disc which means you need the Master Cylinder and valve from the donor car.

      The part number for the 02 Forester L (drum)and S (disc) for the Master is the same 26401AC191
      And the "Pressure metering valve" part number is also the same 27674AC091

    Great video. Doing to mine!
    What year legacy did you use?
    Also did the ABS sensor line up?
    I have a 01 Forester this should be the same.
    Thanks

    Trying to find a kit where i could remove the entire brake shoes and drum and replace with disk and brake pads on a 2007 Subaru Forester. I just replaced the rear drum with an after market drum and shoes. after a month they stared to chatter ? I readjusted them then after a month they started to charter again. I then purchased from the Subaru dealer the same. But they R expensive, i then did the job again. after a month the same problem. Rear brakes R chartering? What do U think ?

    The parking brake receiver is not the same so I guess he just stuck it through the hole that did not have the correct receiving hardware that properly mounts the cable and helps keep grime out and said... goodnuff!

      Yeah, looks about right, the diameter of the lines is about the same if different at all, should be pretty much interchangeable besides the sensors and master cylinder

  • @RedBeardRebass

    Am i correct in assuming that this also converts the wheel bearing as well? I've got a bad wheel bearing and i hate having the drum brakes on, so i'm wondering if it would be worth it to swap both rears to dick brakes now in order to have easier wheel bearings to change as well.

    I had a question
    I did this swap and used the same break lines that were on the drums Now i feel like the calipers is sizing, could the break lines be the cause?
    I’m pretty sure i should not be using the Drum lines since they didn’t fit that well.
    i did ordered a set of steel lines already

    • @DylenKinch
      @DylenKinch 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ihread on forums you should change it the disc brake lines

    • @Blanco_SubieForester
      @Blanco_SubieForester 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DylenKinch got it fixed, i used everything the same, the problem was that i unhooked the Break lines for a whole day and got air in the master cylinder, so i took it to a shop and did a full break bleed for $240. Now it works perfect.

    Was it worth it though? I mean in traffic real world driving can you say if it worth all the effort from a mechanical standpoint? I mean I know it looks way better looking into wheel...but unsure if it's really a worthwhile improvement over the drum.

      Disc brakes are way better mate. Drum brakes are trash.

    • @bp9749
      @bp9749 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bakihanma7247 if we're talking about the front brakes I'd say you're absolutely right. But in this particular car in the rear just saying they're better doesn't make it so. My original question is was it worth it. Meaning is it actually worth the stopping power improvement. Or is this a case of what everyone does so that means it's automatically better. I totally agree on the maintenance side. The replacement disc setup is a tiny caliper using the same pressure the drum has. I bet if we measure surface area of the shoes the drums would come out on top. I'm not saying upgrading the pads and rotor sizes above stock wouldn't be an improvement I mean the two systems stock rotors and stock drums. Is it better?
