This isn't spoken about much in many Western Civilization classes, nor are a lot of topics you've covered in your videos. Thank you for making these :) I don't remember a lot of what you say the first time watching a new video from you, but it helps me gain new territory I haven't learned about.

Yeah the westernmost Slavs had it really rough, they were almost completely annihilated or assimilated.

Let's not forget that the lands the Western Slavs were living on was almost entirely Germanic during the Antiquity.
And a decent amount of Obodriten and Sorbian land was ex-Saxon land.
In a sense the Germans were reclaiming lost land.
Nothing can really excuse what was done to those people. It was just too harsh, in a modern context it would constitute genocide and or culturecide.
The Wend's weren't completely innocent though, they raided German lands, took slaves, destroyed the Germanic culture east of the Elbe and committed the same sins that everyone did in the Medieval era.
A lot of Wends just became other Wends, like Pomeranians becoming Poles or Sorbs becoming Czechs.
A similar thing happened to the Eastern Germanic tribes, any Teuton that stayed in Poland when the Wends came ended up becoming Polish.
And the vast majority of pagans who refused to convert to Christianity suffered borderline Genocide. The shit that happened to the Saxons was horrid.
Yeah those times were pretty horrid all around, that is why I specified that this shit would be horrible *from a modern standpoint.* It is still horrible and lamentable that those cultures were so thoroughly wiped out, I would love to know more on how they lived and what they believed in. And it is heavy sugarcoating saying that most of them became Poles or Czechs. I also contest the notion that this was some righteous reconquista by the Germans, they chose to migrate into former Roman lands leaving their old homelands empty.

Seems to be two words for the same people at different times.
Cultural history is in reality a really difficult topic to discuss. I don't know much about the Wendish and the Sorbians myself, but I know that some scholars would consider the Saxons as related to the Frisians as to the Germans at this point in time, almost as distinct a group as the other two. I think mostly you should think of culture as a rainbow rather than a group of people with different colours that change across one border. The way we understand culture today comes from modern nationalism and standardization of languages.
Maybe those two peoples were the same of different names, or maybe the Sorbians developed from the Wendish the same way the Danish developed from Norse.
I think that Wends is the Germanic name for the Sorbs. Not 100% on that though
More or less, let´s say that they were both West Slavs, Wends were north around Mecklenburg and Sorbs south around Saxony.

To answer the question, Sorbs are just modern descendands of Wends and the same people. Sorbians were one of Western Slavic tribes at the same time Obodrites, Rugians or Pommeranians existed. Most of Western Slavs west of Oder were Germanized, Sorbians around city of Bautzen in todays Saxony, Germany remained.
Germans called all Slavic speaking people as Wends, so it is a term used to describe all Slavs west of Oder and east of Elbe rivers.

PS. Could the Sorbs and Serbs be related, there is this one theory that due to a dispute over leadership. the two split and the Serb migrated south into the Balkans.

G-Rex Saurus they are related, the Sorbs call themselves in their native language as "serby" and Serbs call themselves "Srbi", which is pronounced almost exactly the same, they were once one people but they split, the Sorbs call Serbs southern Serbs and we call Sorbs Lusatian serbs,even the two languages were almost the same before Serbian evolved two times two hundred years ago.

The Serbian tribe likely originated from the Sorbs, but Serbs have gained a lot of outside admixture. Sorbs are probably the purest Slavic tribe.

David Harrison the Slavic paganism was pretty much a standard Indo-European paganism, with thunder god (Perun in this case) as the big boss.
Very similar to slavic paganism. The Christians wrote quite a lot about the Wendish but most of those accounts are bias and written by people who didn't speak the language so much is lost.

Αctually it is wiping out anyone not like "us", but we must play the democracy and human rights card and saying it outloud doesn't help in that direction while keeping up the appearences. In this case you must convince skinheads, media, social media trolls and commoners that f.e. the Wends are somehow a natural threat to democracy. Plus back then the West was religiously unified so there was no need for reconsiliations among westerners.

Actually your are right.Islam is backward compared to modern Christianity, but it was actually a wise thing to do. By inhibiting reforms Islam preserved itself as a religion even in modern times. And yes Jewish people lived among Serbs because Serbs accepted most of them in Lyca & Lidya (ANATOLYA) after they escaped Egipt and gave them the same right and religious freedom and fought Egiptians with them. SKITI/SCYTHIANS are just SERBIAN-SLAVIC NOMAD SOCIAL VLASS where Serbs were called SARBATI/SARMATI and jews SEMITI but they as minority were part of Serbian-Slavic people.
