Both the Germans, and in a lesser extent the Japanese, had been portrayed favourably by the Muslim world because they didn't colonise Muslim countries until WW2. In fact, it was England, France, the Netherlands, Russia and China that were considered enemies of the Muslims. For example, during the 1941 coup in Iraq, the Golden Square enjoyed German support and also aimed to invite Japanese warships to land in Basra, which shocked Britain so much so that Britain had to invade Iraq.

Arabs would have been given nominal control over those areas and states not possessing significant oil production.

    22:22 to anyone wondering:
The Wealth Tax was not levied on Christians specifically. The government gave quotas to each tax collector, an exorbitant amount, which the tax collector was required to collect in any way they saw fit. Coupled with the short preparation time (13 days if I'm not mistaken), all this incompetency resulted in the fuck up we now know as the Wealth Tax.
Since the government was unable to fulfill its intended aim of taxing the war-time income of large landowners and food traders, a second tax was introduced shortly after called the "Agricultural Produce Tax".

    • @thebeatnumber

The Ottoman Empire levied various taxes that disproportionately affected religious minorities, including Christians and Jews.
One of the most notable taxes was the *jizya*, a poll tax imposed on non-Muslims. This tax was part of the broader system of *dhimmi* status, which granted certain protections to non-Muslims in exchange for their subordination and additional taxes.
In addition to the jizya, minorities were often subject to other taxes and obligations, such as:
      1. Harac: A land tax levied on non-Muslims.
      2. Boys' Tax (Devshirme): A system where Christian boys were taken from their families, converted to Islam, and trained to serve in the Ottoman military or administration. While not a monetary tax, it was a form of human taxation.
      3. Various local and regional taxes: These could vary significantly depending on the time period and specific locality within the Ottoman Empire.

@@thebeatnumber @thebeatnumber This is entirely false. As I've said, the tax itself was not intended for the non-Muslim population. It is true that non-Muslims were taxed to a disproportionate amount, but so was Muslims. The difference was that when Muslims (like the Koç family) received the tax demands, they contacted the local party branch and were successful in bringing the demanded tax down; Non-Muslims who were close to the local party branch (such as Taptas, Keresteciyan, etc.) also got the same treatment. The Wealth Tax assessed %68 of the Tax from İstanbul and %32 of the Tax from Anatolia and Thrace. 430 Miliion Liras were demanded by the Government, it was left up to the Burocrats to collect them in 13 days. Muslims paid ≈107 Million, Non-Muslims ≈170 Million, ≈13 Million Liras were paid by the non-Citizens; the government forgave 140 Million Liras of Christian tax debt, lowering their demanded tax from 310 Million Liras to 170 Million. On average; Dönmeh citizens paid 2 times the amount a Muslim citizen would, a non-Citizen payed 3 times the amount a Muslim citizen would, and non-Muslim citizen paid 5 times the amount a Muslim citizen would.
At the time; people who facilitated trade in Turkey were non-Muslims, the majority of craftsmen and tradesmen were also of non-Muslim origin. The Wealth Tax aimed to tax the war-time earnings of the traders (whose majority was of non-Muslim descent) AND the large landowners (who were basically all Muslim at this point). Wealth Tax succeeded (though unfairly) in taxing the Urban traders' wealth, but utterly failed in taxing the large landowners. That is why a sister tax to the Wealth Tax was introduced: the Agricultural Produce Tax.
Poor planning and incompetent execution on the government's part lead to the Wealth Tax disaster, the sectarianism of the tax collectors and party chapter leaders (whom were elected, and were not appointed by the central party) caused the Wealth Tax disaster.
The Wealth Tax had no structural basis similar to that of the Islamic Jizya or the Kharaj, though in practice it is true that the Tax looks like the Kharaj Tax.

Lets start with Algeria. At first France took Algeria and gave rights to Jews to have a loyal population who would also pay taxes, Muslims had no rights, Arabic Banned, and France hoping Algerians would become more and more French. During WW2 Muslims fought under the Free France Campaign to secure independence and France promised them and many African colonies said independence to help. After WW2 ended Algerians celebrated on the streets if Algiers securing independence before France firing on the crowd in a massacre. France denied giving Algeria independence specifically because they were seen as France proper like Corsica, they did finally give Muslim rights and unbanned Arabic (almost resulted in Arabic being forgotten) but to the Muslim Algerians they kept trying peace and they weren’t given independence so they went to a brutal Revolution to secure independence of Algeria. The Jews who got rights from the start sided with the French and helped undermine Muslim malitas in the war which caused Muslims to see the Jews as traitors and deported them to France during the war and after the war. In the 1960’s Algeria finally secured its independence

This misplaced overemphasis on how EU split the nations up being the “cause” of conflicts that followed is overstated, overly simplistic, and basically can only be done if you blindfold yourself. The history of that region is conflict. Always. And the power dynamics would continue to fuel new conflicts. As do the ideological differences, and the ethnic ones.
Even if you cleanly put every into nice buckets, and gave them states of their own. That wouldn’t stop the aggression. They’d just be fighting each other using different flags. There’d be more invasions instead of pogroms and civil wars. No matter how you slice it, the more powerful ones would aim to dominate the weaker ones and suppress the local population to their rule and religion.
And we’d be right back to where we are now. Where the ME has always been. And where it will continue to be long after you and I are dead and buried.

it's best to clarify that the Arabs that appealed to Nazism didn't appeal to any supremacism, but it was in an effort against the Europeans that colonized them. Countless reports and testimonies are being made to this day by elders that the Germans treated the Arabs better than the rest, and to forget that Churchill alone killed millions of Indians through sanctions alone should not be neglected. I'm mentioning this because I know people like to use these arguments against Arabs, although the creator of the video is aware enough to acknowledge that the argument would only be against themselves.
Also, 11:25 -> This was common sentiment and still is because the notion that the British bought and gave lands to the Jews was a large scam: many were either forced to sell, had their lands stolen and nearly all Jews by 1940 were foreigners wanting to create an independent Jewish state on Palestinian land despite being refugees 2-3 decades prior. I know this video isn't about this and it's why it wasn''t remotely discussed, but I think its important for the viewers to note, as the way you said it kind of gave a poor connotation
Good video and good narration. I loved it. I do think you should have a section at the end of each video that lists notable sources and a bibliography though.

It's a bit inconducive to elucidate theology from the political aspirations of a madman. Hitler's fanaticism ultimately stemmed from his nationalistic pride which is apparent in the "German Christian" movement to which he admitted to be. I'm not Christian myself, but his version is definitely not representative of Christian theology. Those trying to ascribe his views with that of Islam are also extremely ignorant as his actions are not reflective in any Islamic doctrine. He did express admiration for Muhammad but also Confucius and Buddha as leaders of spiritual sustenance. His seemingly affectionate tone for the people of the middle east were all but political in a strategic attempt to undermine the western colonial powers who controlled these regions, to capitalize on the (justifiably) anti-Western sentiment in these colonial territories. It's a shame that pseudo-historians today in their hatred of Muslims try to shift responsibility on Islam for no justifiable reason as his actions go against any mainstream Islamic belief. I would encourage everyone to not be so regressive in their theological debates and to let a cruel, immoral man such as Hitler to simply be what he was, a genocidal lunatic.

Atsız was racist but pre-islam Turkic identity were already being explored for 30 years by that time and Turanist (pan-Turkic) ideas were present more than a century. Wealth tax again was not aimed towards people from any religious groups more so it impacted secular Turks which were captains of the Young Turkish Republics industry. Please correct these. Also Turkey accepted many jewish peoplez from France, especially some of the most fundamental scientific and academic developments were developed under such scientists in collaboration with Turkish ones. Taxes were a set amount for each citizen and Turkey never once organised labor camps out of prisons which is standart even now. You are misrepresenting Turkish stance. Turkey did not harbor favor or hate towards Jewish or Kurdish people during this time frame, it was strict survival of the state and the people.

You're literally just saying shit 😭. The Ottomans throughout the start of the 20th century pushed for an empire wide turkization campaign in order to homogenize the empire's populace to align more with the Turkish leaders. The British and French worked along side select groups of Arab leader (Sharif Hussein ibn Ali) in order to establish Arab states and take land back from the Ottomans who were actively ethnically cleaning parts of modern day Iraq, Syria, Armenia, and Lebanon. The British and French then backstabbed the Arab populace with the Sykes Picot agreement that divided up the Middle East into separate European spheres of influence. The British originally had promised the Arab leaders and their populace their goal of a Pan-Arab state. The Italians on the other hand were engaging in mass ethnic cleansing of Libya in order to create Italy's "forth shore" which was rhetorical fascist project to establish Italian colonies in North Africa and eventually annex the land. Why should the Arab people be loyal to any of these groups that essentially wanted to steal their land and genocide them?

Shah's refund!!! What a lie! We obliged under the condition that Iran is a naturally peaceful nation, but allies, they cowardly invaded us, and as a result, 4 million Persians died...

was that an Arab news source? because not everything labed Palestine was Arab at the time, a good example being a newspaper by the name "the Palestine post" which after Israel became indapendent was renamed to "the Jerusalem post"

It goes unsighted due to the era between the Arab Revolts and Pre Cold War the Middle East wasn’t as sought after it wasn’t untik events in the Middle East escalated with America finding oil in Saudi Arabia, Creation of Israel and Palestine, and Egypt nationalizing the Suez where the things get picked up
