My wife’s 2014 3H has done 100K miles from new. It has also never been fast charged, so the batteries have had an easy life. However the EV range had progressively decreased to only 16 usable miles. So I did the hack and it worked first time. The range fluctuated for a week or so but it’s now showing 25 miles range consistently. Fantastic and thanks for the hack. I suspect differing software / firmware versions through the production run may account for success of the hack or not....
Thanks so much Andy, and thanks God! Our 2014 Outlander Aspire had apparently "degraded" so much that we could only get about 9km and would sometimes (once the EV battery was "empty") stop with "EV Service Required" and need to be restarted on the freeway (very dangerous) - so we were needing to use the "Charge" and "Save" functions to stop this from happening. Also it was accepting only about 3KWH from empty to full. With fuel prices through the roof and Mitsubishi quoting $12000 just for supplying a new battery, and us not really being in a position to buy a new car ATM, (especially as the car is still in solid condition apart from the battery), I was investigating if anyone could rebuild it or provide an equivalent battery. After praying about it, I so glad I came across this video - it has saved us a fortune. I had only just started charging from empty when I did the procedure, and it then showed a range of 36km, and the gauge indicated about 3/4 full. It took a few times of restarting to clear the "EV Service required". I took it for a very short drive around the block, and it dropped to 32km. So I fully charged it overnight, and it showed 55km (the same as it used to show when new). I drove it 12km this morning (a trip I had not been able to to without the battery going flat), before charging it again. It was down to 3/4 full again, but I can't remember how many km it though I still had. I expect there will have been some degradation, and I will need to see how it goes over the next few weeks, but at this stage it is looking like there is not actually much wrong with the battery at all - I am cautiously optimistic. Thanks again. Mitsubishi needs to take notice of this.
Hi Peter, surely this is just tricking the BMU into falsely assuming there is full battery health? After several trips wouldn't the BMU learn the real range and adjust accordingly? Appreciate you keeping me posted (my auxiliary battery went flat and reset the BMU, but I'm not sure I trust it, can't seem to get the engine to kick in which it used to do when selecting the charge button).

Hi , We are in the same boat , bought mine this week and at full am only getting 16-17 miles. Mine is 2018 4h. Thinking of doing this tricks now , or go to see Mitsubishi dealer
The dealership here has discouraged me from bringing it in. They said testing would cost $450 and Mitsubishi won’t honor the warranty unless the battery is basically dead and the car won’t drive. Hopefully a third party company will come up with a solution for replacing or resetting these batteries for less than 10K.

To anyone resetting the BMU in order to gain more range from the battery, here is what i was told by an instructor while i was doing classes for Mitsubishi Hybrid Certification, because i saw this being performed by the Master Tech and the advisors and i was curious about it and asked the instructor: "Unless you completely replace the hybrid battery, DO NOT perform a BMU reset! Hybrid batteries will degrade over time with age, as expected. This means the battery ramge will also decrease with it. If you perform a BMU reset, all you do is trick the computer into thinking that you have a new Hybrid battery installed. That will request alot of power from the battery, which it doesnt have readily available anymore because of degradation from age! Sure, the customer is going to SEE that they have more range now, but all youre really doing is accelerating the wear on the battery."
I don't think this is correct. I don't think this is doing anything to the range, I believe what this is doing is erasing your 'driving style' data that the vehicle has recorded. The 'driving style' data is used to guess the projected range, the same is done with a petrol/diesel car. For instance, if you've been pottering 'round town it will take this data to give projected range, if you've just come off a long motorway journey, it will use this data for the estimate, which will obviously be less. You'll find that although it suggests a range of, say, 20 miles, you may well get 22miles by driving more gently than you did in your previous journey. I don't believe this is resetting the BMU battery health data at all otherwise after a full charge, you'd see the projected mileage pop up to the 'new car' range, which it doesn't. When I've tried this the projected range does, in fact, increase BUT once you start driving it quickly loses range i.e. you drive two miles, say, but the range drops 3 to 4 miles. similarly you'll continue on battery power for a while after the projected range has reduced to zero. I feel this makes more sense than the above theory, why would you allow the BMU to be reset if 12v battery went flat or was replaced at end of life, for instance?
Legend! We were on the way to the airport when our car wouldn’t start. This fixed the issue and because of you we didn’t miss our flight ✈️

Hi guys any idea on why it initially looked like it worked on my 2016 UK GX4H showing an increase of 9 miles on full charge but it dropped again the next day?? Now I have tried to do it again however can't get the message "EV SERVICE REQUIRED" on my dashboard... Thanks for your help
I am not sure it will work on the 2016m most success seems to be on 2014.
Does not work on 2019 european version.
Reports are won't work on the newer, plus I wouldn't do it on the newer, push the warranty with Mitsubishi.
Not working on my 2016
I can't do this as the car dies as soon as i disconnect battery. Loadbox does not keep the car alive as in video and therfore the reset does not activate...
Genius ! Expect a visit from some men in dark suits and shades. They'll be getting out of a Mitsi !!!

I just found a new method. Turn in car. Turn on charge mode. Disconnect 12v . Turn off car. Connect 12v. Can you check this on yours .? (No charger needed)

I watch a video the best procedure they said was to reset bmu , soothing then dbcam . But the didn't say how to do this ? Anyone know how ?
I think those 3 steps would need to be performed at a Mitsu car dealership.
Doesn´t work in my 2018 2.0 PHEV. Tried several times, it keeps the same.
Theyve updated the bmu. But some 2018 models has manage to get it to work
No go on my 2017 model
Nothing went wrong just for trying?
No luck here in W.A. either, tried a few different ways with my 2014....
really? Try with charge mode button instead of using a charger. And you did it with not full battery right?
@@electricfuture6917 Battery St 45%, okay not a bad idea, will try that tomorrow.

I have tried your procedure for 5 times in MY13. But didn't work for me too. Should i try with the Charge button ON instead? Then, after disconnecting the 12V battery, the car still remains on Start. What i would do then? Switch OFF the Charge? Or what to do Sir?
@@electricfuture6917
I just now tried the instead Charge button way. It didn't worked for me as well. On Charge button, when i disconnect the 12V battery, then i switch OFF the Charge button and my Car was remain on Ready mode. I think this is by the power of Drive battery. Then i waited for the lights out but nothing happened. Finally i switch off the car. Then i tried the D Easy Method twice. No outcome arrived. Bad luck for me. I guess, i might need to remove the negative terminal of the 12V battery while trying the D Easy Method.
Considering buying one with 75k Miles on it and am worried about battery range degradation. So based on this, does the manufacturer basically program degrading battery capacity over time on purpose and this is a way to remove that lowered cap? And why would manufacturer do this?
I didn't work for me using my home charger. I have a theory that the public chargers may work, I'll try it tomorrow. I have a 2013 Outlander
Try using charge mode instead. Start the car then turn on charge mode. Disconnect 12v, turn off car. Connect 12v. BMU will be reset. Tested and worked for me today
@@electricfuture6917 no luck, neither method worked

Didn't work for mine......
Well, tried this method in my my14 EU spec. Didn't work.
Has anyone had success with this on a 2018? We bought ours in April with 52000 miles on it. The guessometer says anywhere from 17-20 mile range fully charged, but we're lucky to hit 15-16 in normal driving conditions using regen breaking.
Hi ,
We are in the same boat , bought mine this week and at full am only getting 16-17 miles.
Finally did this and it raised the full charge mileage estimate from 16 to 21 miles. We’ll see if we actually get 21 miles though
After doing this my side mirror camera started not working. Anyone who can help me? :(
Not advisable though..the DMU won't give you the correct charge since it's memory is erased.
So I might be really stupid..what is this doing?
And BMU is what, exactly? 🤨
Just resets the guessometer
Nope it does not, it resets the BMU as confirmed with the DOG app.
Didn't work for me :/.
Did not work for my 2014 3H (UK). In fact I got another 0.1 drop just as I completed the procedure. Typical. (copied to unplugged EV for completeness).

@@Pupenhausen No. I bought a cheap MUT-3 on ebay but no joy. I'm not sure it is worth continuing to try resetting - it might make warranty claims harder.
It is a Fake?
nope real!
Don't do this it costs me 60 000 nok to repair the high voltage cables.
And it invalidated the eight-year battery warranty. Congratulations!
