Ms Faye, I’m 56 and have had no sex for 10 years now. I don’t miss it either. I’ve been physically and mentally abused by my spouse since I married when I was 19 and he 28. thanks for the information. I am 63 years old and have been celibate for many years. I just had this conversation with a friend of mine. I told him a doctor told me Aids can lays dominate in your system for 10 years without symptoms. We have to be very careful because we may believe we have a strong relationship and the man is sleeping with several people. You just can't trust them. I know it hurts when you are looking for love or true compassion as a senior. It is just best to be alone and enjoy your life and find other things to do 😊

Yes, but it's a different type of herpes virus', not the same as chickenpox and is the same family but displayed differently. If it was the same thing it wouldn't have a different name. Cold sore type 1 herpes is also different from type 2 genital herpes.

Yes there's a lot of herpes under the umbrella, like shingles, Epstein's Barr ( which I have Epstein's Barr)
Chicken pox- herpes zoster, makes one susceptible to shingles. The herpes virus that manifests as cold sores and genital sores- herpes simplex, is different.

My older date was trying to sneak into my house, and in my bedroom, and I told him I not prepared for that. When I’m prepared I’d tell him and we both must to test for STD. And he said that he never had anything and didn’t need to test. Just imagine the mentality…I’m very firm on testing before anything, and don’t even try otherwise.
When I took a Women/Gender Studies class. I did a paper on HIV & women and was surprised to see how the senior population HIV rate was high! I wondered why & and as you stated, older men don't want to use condoms. Other reasons, older people don't think STDs don't apply to them, that it affects younger people, for older women they no longer have to worry about pregnancy but another factor, older men are giving younger women money in order to have sex with them & catching diseases from them & of course men that sleep with men. You are right about Herpes, a condom will not protect you from that. As women we need to love ourselves & protect ourselves at all costs. If a man don't want to wear one, he don't care about you or himself, even condoms are not 100% effective because condoms break or defective.

HPV is transmitted by skin-to-skin contact. It doesn’t require genital contact, and condoms do not protect against it.

Miss Faye, I wanted to throw out some comments for your and everyone's consideration: There are a growing number of senior single women who are dealing with two very specific issues: One is not having enough money to fully support themselves ... not every senior woman has savings and security, many are on fixed income and that does not pay all the bills and when you're over 65 it's extremely difficult to get hired for a decent job to supplement Social Security, but even IF you can find such a job, how many women over 65 are fully able to physically work 40 hours a week? So these senior women literally need some financial support and that's why many are looking for a decent & stable man who will share expenses in a fair ratio based on each other's income. But finding that kind of man these days is almost impossible! So what are these women to do? The other issue is not having supportive family or friends ... during the past 3 years, estrangements between families and friends have become epidemic, there are more and more senior single women whose kids have turned their back on them and are not around to help OR their kids simply don't have the ability (lack of money or they live far away) to help their mothers ... and when you're over 60, friends in your age group are almost certainly dealing with their own issues and you can't expect them to be there for you in any situation that might arise, but also a lot of people have lost friends due to death or because of conflicting political views and all the divisive stuff that is going on nowadays. Statistics show that never before in history have people been so conflicted with family members and friends and estrangement is at an all-time high. So again, what are these women to do? What I'm trying to say is that so many older women DO prefer to live alone in their own space and are happily celibate ... but many are risking being homeless and totally alone with no one to help them in their elderly years. There should be a good and fair solution for this that will allow good women to be secure and safe and happy in the last years of their life. 😟😟😟😟
I agree with much of what you said here particularly about senior women not being financially self supportive and family estrangement being at an all time high.
Here in the Midwest however I see many many women in their 60"s 70's still tough ING it out in the employment sector. I'll be 60 in less than 4 months and I pull between 48/60 hrs per week. We do what we have to in order to survive and for me that means busting my tail which is a better choice for me than yoking myself to someone who's bored, barking demands at me, or is completely inconsiderate to my needs or feelings.
Wow...we live in two different worlds...I,m 75...travel FT in my camper bus.And have,NO,trouble finding work for extra $$..I worked 12 hour shifts...no days off...for the whole month of October...made big $$$...this summer..I,m managing a campground..way up in gorgeous mountain, in Colorado...did it last year too...I also work with several temp agencys..and...I,ve always been single and independent...And....my friends and family are always there for me

I keep hearing about the high prevalence of STDs in the Over 55 Communities across the country. Even though I don't live in one, I have been approached by married senior men, wanting an extramarital relationship WITH THE KNOWLEDGE & PERMISSION OF HIS WIFE!! In such cases it seems the wife doesn't want to engage in sexual activity, but will allow her husband to seek outside sources for his sexual needs, without any threat to the marriage. If this is a common practice, then that would explain why STDs are high among seniors. I have been celibate for 15 years and am glad I don't have to worry about these issues. Peace, security and contentment are the rewards of a celibate life. It is sometimes a battle to maintain these boundaries with other people. They think and make remarks that there is something wrong with you, or accuse you of being homosexual just because you want to live the celibate lifestyle in an oversexualized culture.
I wouldn't even deal with this man on any level. I wouldn't even sell my house to him after 25 years of abandonment from high school. OH HELL-TO-THE NO! YOU DON'T EVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION!!! And as for house care with my parents. Big. "F" THAT!!!

It's best to just stay abstinent after 50. Sex doesn't work so great after a certain age. The body changes. And I can't even imagine a condom working on a half limp noodle. All that's left is oral and touch, so knowing that's not safe either...just say no.

Another thing. They sell condoms at the Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Store here so no excuse ladies to buy yourself some if you cannot afford to buy the fancy ones online.
