Regular Hardcore Rules:
1. No items in battle.
2. No leveling past upcoming Gym Leader's highest level Pokemon.
3. Battle mode must be "Set".

For the record, I had no idea that you could get the TM for Return in Fallarbor Town, as I thought it was only obtainable in Pacifidlog Town. Whoops.😅
I remember getting return post game and going like "WAIT I COULD OF GOT THAT THIS EARLY"
You could’ve also gotten ice beam a lot earlier (after the Norman fight)

Guts egnors the physical damage halfing from burn meaning that burning is better than poisoning because of the overworld damage
ye but how are u gonna get burned, not like there are a ton of will o wisp pokemon running around

Btw, you technically said at the beginning that you were only using two pokemon "in combat." So maybe it wouldn't have been cheating to put an exp share on your Zigzagoon to use as an EXP sink in between tight level caps? Idk just my cheater brain thinking lol

Something you could've done about the overleveling issue, within the rules of the run, would be to give the Exp. Share to Castform or any other party member to have it take away half the experience you get, and it wouldn't break the rules if you never send it out in battle.
This is pretty much how I played when I was a kid. Just my starter and my flyer... Sometimes a Pikachu...

Technically mudkip got overleveled during Roxanne and should've been switched out

Man you're strategy gave an idea on how to beat emerald with just Gardevoir I have the same problem with the level caps of the third gym through out the sixth gym but seeing you use the exp share might come in handy 4 me cause I've had a bit of trouble no overleveling in the nuzlocke

instead of doing that you could have caught a pokemon/route and then limit yourself to only have 2 in your party, that would allow you to make more strategic decisions depending on the fights that comes ahead

Not sure if you would've counted this as against the rules since the Pokemon wouldn't actually battle, but giving the Exp Share to a Pokemon like Zigzagoon or Castform so the level caps would've been more manageable would be an option
I decided against it because trying to stay under the level cap with just two mons added an additional unique challenge

the best way to bet brawley w tailow is to go into the battle poisoned to activate guts. every one of his pokemon is a one shot

Why didn't you pre-poison taillow for brawly to make it a 100% chance to OHKO
I didn't know how to besides attacking a bunch of shroomish, which would have taken a lot of time due to the low encounter rate in the woods + the low effect spore chance. I actually tried that in the first real run, but went ~0/15 on getting poisoned by effect spore and wasted an hour. You are correct though, that would be a guaranteed win
@@flyingfalcons7 You can fish for Tentacool in Dewford Town. All Tentacool know Poison Sting and are very low level. Loved the video btw :)

I am not sure if you use it, but giving a pokemon exp share can help with over leveling
I like how he didnt use any hm slaves, swampert/mudkip as the only pokemon and hm slave is epic
hmmm before watching I'm thinking the best pair is mudkip and shroomish. I love Blaziken but Mudkip is the best choice. Shroomish is accessible early and has lots of coverage with fighting, grass, and status moves. I could see Aron too but he takes a little longer to get

Challenge: pokemon fire red but no damageing moves only status moves like leech seed or poison powder, i picked fire red cause bulbasaur learns leech seed at lv 7 so there little grinding to begin the challenge
I'm not a hardcore Pokemon player, but I don't understand why falcon doesn't get the option asking if he would like to switch his pokemon when he knocks out one of the opponents pokemons.
There are two modes you can choose between in the options menu, set and switch. The game always starts out as switch mode, meaning you can switch every time you knock out an opposing pokemon(this is the one you're referring to). Set mode, which is what I have to set it to to follow the hardcore rules, means that you won't get the option to switch out.
