Just to clear a couple things up after reading some of these comments:
1) I was not the one driving the car. This is Ashley's Mini Stock, she drives the #92 car. So it was in fact a "she" driving. Some of y'all can't seem to figure out gender, probably because you didn't watch the whole video. 🤣
2) I'm just her spotter, guys. I don't build her car, I don't have input on where she wants her seat or wheel. I just talk to her on the radio. 🤷
The way she sits in that car is not safe. The way she DRIVES that car, is not safe. If you are part of her team, you have input. Speak up before she or someone else gets hurt. I'll never discourage anyone from racing. The more racers we have the better. But people need to be educated. This isn't safe.
She cant see over the dash and she's way too far away from the wheel because the seat is installed improperly. The seat needs to be stood up so the headrest is level and correct. SHE IS LOOKING DOWN HER GOD DAMN NOSE TRYING TO SEE! She shuffle steers the car because she's too far away to make quick moves. It's ALL wrong and it's all centered around that seat.
Fix the seating position and you fix a LOT of the struggles that she is clearly having trying to drive.
Best of luck to her in the future. Glad she's okay.
@@pjacquesracing Excellent post. So many have no idea about stuff but won't listen to people that do.
@@pjacquesracing You're basing all of that off a skewed camera angle? 🤔
Yeah...okay dude. 👍 I might agree with you on the wheel height, but the rest of it you're looking at an angled, skewed camera and judging distances and angles? Whatever bro. And at the end of the day, it's between her and her father who owns the car. I have zero input, regardless of what you say. I don't mind your comments, but you need to check yourself before you start spouting off about me. 😒
Younger drivers are taught in driver's ed to shuffle steer because of air bags. So maybe take that up with the driving instructors out there these days. 🤷
@@vinceedwards575 too bad clowns don’t listen they just argue.
@@pjacquesracing Here is my post 8 days ago.. similar to what you said.... "First off I have raced short tracks and won races although on dirt so I do have a clue. My first thought is she does not look comfortable in the car. Seats looks too laid back and steering wheel is too high. Difficult to stay up on the wheel having to reach so far. Car control will only come with experience but proper seat and steering wheel position will help a ton"
If I can give you any advice, it would be to throw that thing in the corners a little harder. Don’t be timid and trust the car. When we raced North Wilksboro in the UCAR CLASH I was worried that my Hoosiers wouldn’t hold the pavement but it will. Sounds like your letting off the gas way to soon and not wheeling it. You need a lot of seat time and practice but it will come. Remember be fearless and don’t be bullied by other drivers! McCrary Metal Works #44 JRowe
❤ thanks for that advice 👍
Remember starting at the end of the Feature is the worst no matter who you are or how good you were to get that spot. Your line looked really good. You kept your line when others didn't and that got you out of trouble at the 5.44 which was awesome. 11.15 was also exciting. Changing your line when the fast pack arrived is normally difficult for anybody. The 18 took your line and then good lovin went bad . That was like a pit maneuver from a Billy Bob who probably blamed it on his brother. I would want another shot at the 18. That looked like it might have turned out to be a pretty fun touch and go. Respect from other drivers is always part of running well.
That poor girl. She has no idea what she's doing :(
Cool spotting and coaching though!
I agree she needs to be doing something different and not a race car...u can tell she is scared to death
@@rustycanipe1088I'm not scared to death this makes me happy tbh ❤
Bruh I know what I'm doing and I'm going back out soon in my older car most likely the 27th of next month
I didnt know what i was doing and i was scared shitless. Guess what. Since then went from 2 dnfs an 8th place finish to a top 5. Sounds like this is her passion and dream dont ruins someone elses dream simply because it scares you seeing them do it.
Yeah I agree she needs a lot of seat time and more courage. Needs to learn to throw that thing in there. I felt like she panicked when she hit the tires. A quick turn on those Hoosiers would have avoided it.
Lower steering wheel and closer. Helps keep elbows in and better car control
I don't want to move it I like it where it is but thanks
That first hard hit is often a confidence builder, she'll learn and get better from it. We all have to learn. Glad she's OK, stick with it and have fu.
I will 😎
Good job driving young lady. I'm happy you are ok. A little something I learned in my dirt track days is if you know you are going to hit something head on and it can't be avoided let go of your steering wheel.
Cars can be fixed. What's important is she is ok. Every set back is a learning moment. Moving forward I'm hopeful the driver and the team will garner information from this video, make changes and come back better. Good luck.
Thanks and ya I'm good and going back out soon most likely the 27th of next month
She coildnt hit the same line with no other cars on track , no clue , she needs to just be doin practice laps
I'm still learning I'm not doing just practice laps
Glad she's ok, that was a hard hit!!!! I run with the same Zamp helmet 💜 great to see more women get into racing!!!
Keep at it Ashley! The more seat time you get the better you will get. Everyone has a different starting point and learns valuable skills and lessons along the way as they continue their racing career. The only critique I'll offer as I too am a complete novice in the real life racing world is that she may need either a seating position change or run a smaller diameter steering wheel. Based off the in car camera it really looks like she is having to tilt her head back at an angle to look over the steering wheel to see where shes going. I say that just based off of the amount of times I've experienced that issue in my sim rig where I've had to adjust things to get my sight lines to where I can see properly.
Also great job on the spotting Tim!
Thank you I will be going back out in my older one this soon I can't wait to get back out there I'm so excited
Algorithm recommended me this. I'm Alberta's 3x Sport Compact champion, plus a sim racing enthusiast, plus a sim racing developer. Also raced late models sporadically for a few seasons but car count up here right before Covid wasn't great, so I sold off things.
I sat through the whole thing, great editing and production btw, and gotta agree with the other comments. Some people believe classes like Sport Compacts are just a place for kids to race and not get into too much trouble, but the problem is SC's haven't been a kids class for quite a long time. These are still edgy, purpose-built race cars that require a subversive amount of technique, experience, & prep. What I saw was a driver turning casual practice laps at 3/4 speed who had never once been sideways before and didn't even seem to know the optimal line around the track, despite following other cars. The car unloaded because Evergreen has a wavy track surface, and they were completely surprised/unprepared that a car could even do that. You can tell because they were still processing the slide and thinking about what just happened, as they drove straight into the tires.
Sim experience is a must IMO. And not just casually playing iRacing or Assetto, but getting to a place where you can consistently win online races. Cars can unload like this 2-3 times a lap and 100% of the time, saving it should be automatic & instinctive unless there's some act of god IE blown tire or oil leak. Otherwise you'll just write off more cars.
Thank you for sharing this, I rather enjoyed it and will subscribe to your channel, fix 'er up and get Ashley back in soon
❤ thanks I'll be back in my old car soon I can't wait to be back on the track
Great driving young lady keep it up one day you’ll be a great race car driver and crashes happen. Learn to accept it and move forward.
Driver's head should be level, eyes straight ahead with helmet barely touching head rest during race. Steer wheel top is above and in her line of sight. Arms are extended up too far because steer wheel is way too high. After wheel dropped 6? inches, driver arm straight out on top of wheel, wrist should be forward of the wheel rim. a little. Car looks pretty nice. Lot of time and effort shown. Do you have scales? left side weight is critical, but likely you couldn't get over 55% left side without an off center chassis. Cross weight critical. Never ran a stock body car, so don't know a number. Running caster stagger? What engine? She lets off a little early? Might be handling issues. She will get better, and can learn to be mad first, then get scared. With proper wheel race studs/nuts, right side spacers help left weight if stock type wheels mandated. Started my round track racing with a first time female driver, mini stock car. and we had to install a steering quickener box. so less wheel needed. Shift lever ball straight across from steer wheel rim. Gas pedal same level as brake pedal and much closer to brake. Look at her foot angle for full throttle. Looked maybe track was damp, and slow steering. Don't give up on her. more seat time needed. Had a fun 5 years with the lady as driver. She was usually top 10 out of 20-24 car field. Pro 4s in mid-west.
A lot of people that have never driven a race car in the comments. Shes doing what she needs to do to learn. Hope all is well and she can get back out there soon!
💯%
She seemed to just freak out when the spotter told her the lead lap car was coming up behind her on her inside, maybe thought she had to try and stay on that lead lap? She gonna learn no matter what. Good job on the spotter though, she will get better.
I'm not going to criticise her for learning, as I am in the same boat in starting my own racing career but there were some things to me that look awkward. She looks like she's too far back in the seat for starters. It also looked like she lifted off completely, which takes the balance out of the car and creates a lack of adhesion. Just small things that she'll learn as time goes on.
Will be out soon thanks 😊
hope you back soon mate 🤟 they tell me it will buff out big buffer A 😁😆 all part of it ... from Australia have a good one
Thank you
I would be back out tomorrow but it's just a little bit too much work to do to the old car so I will do my best to get back out on July 27
@@animal_lover2100 ok you gave that tyre a good head butt A🤣😆 go and have fun that's the main thing A have a good one Steve 😁
She has no idea what she’s doing😂
when your loose it's hard to control and I was tapped by absher sooo please stop with the hate if my spotter and car chief thought I shouldn't be out here thed take me out
Btw this is my 3rd year in this class yes I'm still learning but if I wanted to stop I could and I choose not to

@@animal_lover2100lmao go wreck another one and cry about it💀
We cannot judge from video how she was doing without driver feedback. We know how the car looked, but we don't know how the car felt. The car may have felt on the edge to her. You can see what her eyes were telling her, but we do not know what her butt was telling her.
First off I have raced short tracks and won races although on dirt so I do have a clue. My first thought is she does not look comfortable in the car. Seats looks too laid back and steering wheel is too high. Difficult to stay up on the wheel having to reach so far. I like where stuff is I'm not changing it I am comfortable
@@animal_lover2100 you don’t look comfortable AT ALL. You might think you are but when you experience proper seating position it will be a world of difference. This is experience speaking.
@@pjacquesracingnot everyone sits in the car the same way
I have to say. I would for sure consider letting her practice a lot more before putting her back on the track in an actual race. Not downing you guys but I agree with a few others. She doesn’t look comfortable enough to be in a race car in an actual race. My gosh

@@animal_lover2100 nobody is hating. We are trying to help. YOUR ass is the one on the line in the car, not theirs. Your seating and driving position is physically preventing you from being a better driver right now and progressing. That’s the bottom line. If yall want to ignore it that’s on you but nobody is telling you to stop or hating. Just pointing out helpful facts.
Those tires… is that a good idea? Every crash I see in them is brutal!
We hate them, but every track uses them.
This sport makes me happy guys its in my blood if i wanted to stop i could i have been asked if ive wanted to stop and i coose no
She needs sim time to get some racecraft. Adjust that seat and steering wheel too, she needs to be closer to the wheel. She’s tough tho! Go get em Ashley
Careful don’t tell them what to do you’ll get told you have no clue what you’re talking about
Definitely agree with this. Sims are hugely important even at the amateur level, whether it's iRacing or a European-centric sim like Assetto. You really shouldn't be on the track without sim time. And sim time refers to actually getting extremely good and learning to race all types of cars against aliens online from Europe & South America. When I started racing sport compacts back in 2016 I felt prepared for everything and was instantly competitive. I don't recall ever getting lapped unless there was a serious car issue and even then I would just pull off. To me this kind of thing is 100% avoidable.
Great job Ashley....get back on that horse you'll get it! 👏
😎 yep I will thanks
Get back on that horse girl. Great job we wanna see more for sure.
Yep I will be getting in the older one soon😊👍
Chin up! You'll be fine! Comes with the territory!
Good luck young lady! Like riding a bike, if you fall off, you get right back on it!
Yep 👍😊😎🏁🏁🏁
Im glade they took her in.
They will give her a good look over, fix her and get her back in the car soon!
Yep and I'm going to be out there soon most likely the 27th of next month
Stop caring what all these people say. Focus on your craft!
Hope the driver is Ok. Bit of a shock for her. Chin up!
Thank you, she is doing well. Just a sprained wrist where the wheel got her.
I'm good and going back out soon most likely the 27th of next month
That was a hard hit yes but the ones after this will be weak in comparison.. your tough and strong and your ok oh and one more thing you're one bad aS driver, your 💯 a wheel woman .. you're amazing 👏 🤩
Thank you
Sooo many expert racers on this comment section. Just remember whos watching who race and has an opinion lol.
Get her closer to the pedals!! And maybe shift from time to time. Good luck on the next race!!
@@darrellrose9110 Why would you shift? Clearly you've never raced an oval track car. 🤦♂️
Holy shit! It didnt seem like that bad of a hit but damn!
im glad shes ok. its a hard sport to learn but that weel needs to be down a full 4 inches i like my seat a littel farther back and i a 6 time champ at all levels. but i hope shes not so raddled she wont come back to to it i see that all to often.
I'm not quitting I'm comming back out in my old car soon 😊
Wow that car fucked. I cannot believe there is no walls, just random tractor tires to run into
Nope it just needs a new front clip there is a wall on the front stretch
Ok new update next time I race will be June 27 it would be way to much work on the old car to get it ready I just found this information out as I just got home from working at camp both night and day for the past 6 days
Stay after it Ashley!
I'm racing my old car soon most likely the 27th of next month
Oh lord 😮 he went straight for the tire. Wow, I won't by able sleeping for a month. Good to see he survived 👍.
*she 😉
These people are so awful. They'll call her he because she has shorter hair, but if she was a trans man you know they'd can her a woman. Just miserable people looking for any way to bother someone.
She doesn’t need to be anywhere near a race car.. that’s as respectful as I can be about it.
She’s going to get someone hurt.
Ok well that won't happen
Most of the time it has been others that have caused me to get hurt and racing is a sport that you risk getting hurt so ya I could but it would never be on purpose
I recommend spending some time in iracing for more practice. Great learning tool
at the old track i gone to you not aloud to use radio, they have to use police scanners
Seat and steering wheel need to be properly aligned so she can drive the car!!!! Take that into account....comfy driver is a better driver!!!!
Shes reaching for the steering wheel, move it closer. And its to high she has to be looking straight into it. And get a smaller wheel. Big wheels you get behind on steering input
I don't want smalll wheel sorry it's where I want it thanks for advice tho
too much play in steering wheel
There's no play in the wheel
you race at South sound Speedway
I have seen you in real life 😂😂😂
these dei inserts gonna get hurt and others
