Here's the thing. They've been pretty beat up from being compared to BMTH. This is a clear departure from that, and thusly sets them uniquely apart from that comparison. I say well done and a solid step forward.
Not that much of a departure, The Hell I Overcame sounds like it come straight off Sempiternal. Still good stuff though.

Dethrone is the heaviest song from the album but i think Mercy is the best. It is heavy but much more melodic.

Mercy and blood are the other heavy songs on the album. Mercy is probably my favorite on the album. Super melodic and heavy
Their new album is very good from front to back; is a more complete album than their first. The first album definitely had more bangers on it though
It’s less heavy than their first album overall so most people in this comment section don’t care. But I think the album is amazing.
@@liambarrett2638 Yeah it's less heavy hitting then there last, but it was a smart move to spice things up a bit to mix there music up. They are a very young band which I'm grateful to listen, and a lot of young bands don't hit main stream that fast. I seen them live and there amazing.

Definitely understand your focus in the chorus lol. It sounds like a pre chorus to something bigger. Very interesting way to organize the song for sure!
I love love love their song Mercy off this album. As well as Running In Circles. This album definitely appeals to a wider audience and matures their sound, I think it's a logical and nice evolution of their sound. Unfortunately with that, the appeal to certain fans gets lost. Luckily I didn't lose mine.
Personally, i dig the style of bad omens.
Their major problem is, however, that they're way too repetitive; some sections seems to be just copied and pasted into the next one, which is a shame, since they can be very creative (just listen to their self titled album).
I just love it when a song evolves second after second, building up to a huge last chorus or breakdown, and i really think they have the ability to do that.
I'm tempted to download the album as mp3s rather than listening on Spotify, and then do some rearrangements to make each song shorter and remove excessive repetition.

I’ve found this simplicity to be heavier than many other modern songs; it’s aggressive, to the point, hard hitting, and thrashy. Just my personal feelings- as a drummer, I just find simpler-hard hitting shit to be more memorable and catchier

I haven't finished watching your review quite yet (i obvs am, i love hearing your takes on things) but I will say I feel that this record feels GREAT to jam as a whole. I'm honestly not too big on individual songs, though most do stand alone pretty well, they SHINE as a whole. It follows a concept that I still haven't FULLY figured out, but is cohesive throughout the whole record (even the cover of Come Undone they did for the deluxe edition fits really well with the story line Noah has set up) and further, feels like the opposite side of the conversation that comes up in the first record.
I hope you take a 2nd look at the whole record and jam it as, what I feel anyways, it was meant to be: a whole piece taken in all at once because I genuinely feel that this record is worthy of defining my generation, according to spotify and I do not deny that at ALL!

I just love songs like this. Not a huge fan of fan of the band but holy hell this song slaps
Mercy is really Architects-y and Blood is almost as heavy as this one but quite a bit more creative and interesting. I originally hated the soft songs too, but they've REALLY grown on me the more I listened to them. Highly recommend spinning the album all the way through, but yeah it's not always for everyone.
Ben Hostetter yeah the entire album is a masterpiece tbh, at first I didn’t rly like the songs like If I’m There and Burning Out and stuff like that but they definitely grew on me and now it’s in my top 5 albums of all time cause of the variation in it

Top 10 albums of 2019 by far in my opinion. Lots of variation in music, vocals, and very good orchestration. Some people find it generic, I think its awesome.

as a sucker for this album, i agree with your thoughts on this song. some egyptian melodies would have been the perfect touch to a dark and heavy song. also, everyone really likes mercy and think thats their best, but i personally favor kingdom of cards.
