I wouldn’t say the video is irrelevant as there are those laid back users who might use this solution the same as how I use it, but I do agree that further testing needs to be done to show it’s true advantage. Honestly, this channel is just for fun and gives me an excuse to try things that I wouldn’t do normally. I appreciate your comment and opinion!
Hi, i followed every step, i got 3 red blinks 4 white blinks upon starting and my mini pc refuse to start, is there a fix for that?
Oh, no! I found this article: support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997210-1528385-16. It states it’s a power supply issue. If you’re using this graphics card, be sure you’re using a high watt power supply: 135 watts or 150 watts.
I would like to see what this does to a Batocera machine running on one of these, could be a nice small dual boot Batocera gaming machine/Windows media center PC.
Thanks for watching. Yes, I'd like to do a follow-up video related to retro gaming, but it isn't something I normally do. But this channel is the opportunity for me (and hopefully others) to try new things and learn along the way. Stay tuned.
Runs well. My Bartop arcade is powered by an elitedesk 705 g4 with the ryzen 5 pro 2400ge
@michealdionne5456 I would have guessed, I have done a couple of the G3s for family members. Their igpus are good even up to PS 2/xbox/GameCube emulation fairly well. I was more interested in what it could handle at the top. Like PS3 or XBox 360 emulation. I am currently running a ryzen 3100/3060ti setup for my Home Media Center/Batocera system. It handles most everything pretty well.
At the very least, it'll free up some RAM.
Thanks for watching!
Please explain how we can search for upper and lower HP Flex IO cards
Hi and thanks for watching. I found this HP document that lists the HP Flex IO Option cards; hope this helps. www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c06042607.pdf
Can someone confirm which HP power supply you need to turn this on? I know the 65 watt standard one doesn't work, Just got a 120 watt in the mail, thinking I need to get the 150 watt is the hot ticket?... Thank you.
3 long beeps, 4 short beeps tells me its a power issue.
Cheers! thank you
Mine came with a 135 watt power supply and it worked fine (used in the video).
@@heywhatisnext Thank you, I appreciate the response.
This is sooooo cool!!!!
Awesome! Appreciate all your comments.
What is the specification of the HP Elitedesk 705 G4? There are variant CPU such AMD Ryzen 5 Pro and Intel i5
Thanks for watching. The 705 G4 mini I have is the Ryzen 5 Pro 2400 G.
Hold on... Is it me or you missed to put 2 more screws in the back of the graphics card?
Thanks for watching! I opened the HP this afternoon and there are no screws on the card toward the back of the computer. There are only two screws to the front of the machine.
Interesting, the built-in graphics are that good that a dedicated gpu wasn't a big upgrade.
At least now, with the dedicated graphics, you are not taking up some of your ram.
Yeah, I was surprised. With the discrete graphics, I noticed temps on the CPU were less during graphics testing I did off camera. This was to be expected. Still loved tinkering with this mini pc :-)
well it's not a very good discrete graphics card so that is why!
For about 2 years I ran a system based on the Ryzen 5 3400G as my main gaming system. It wasn't very good at first person shooters but World of Warcraft and Diablo3 ran pretty decently. Even on the 3840*1440 screen.
IGPs have become pretty powerful over the past couple of years.
Im curious if this will work in a 800g3? Im looking to passthrough the card for video transcoding.
Hi there and thanks for watching. As I don’t have the 800 G3 unit, I’m not sure. HP has a decent set of documentation online at support.hp.com/us-en/product/setup-user-guides/hp-elitedesk-800-g3-tower-pc/model/15257632 or here support.hp.com/us-en/product/setup-user-guides/hp-elitedesk-800-g3-small-form-factor-pc/15257618.
Hello ! please, could you name the part number of that HDMI Option Port board , you had removed , for instaling the discrete GPU ? I have a Elitedesk 705 G5 mini , and I cannot find the part number of this specific HDMI option port for this HP mini pc . Thank you very much , in advance !
Hi, and thanks for watching. The HP HDMI Port Flex IO board model number is 3TK75AA. I found this information in the following HP PDF: www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c06042607.pdf. It’s on page 5 and 6. Hope this helps!

hello I have a 705 G5 model will this modification work? G4 looks the same inside there is also a connector. But won't the bios block the start?
Thanks for watching. According to HP’s website, it does appear that it should work: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06461848.
Hi when it come's to using the pc what did you do about the HP Wolf Security and sure start... it can be a pain if someone is planning to use it for a home pc everyday use some light gaming
As far as I know, I do not use these two solutions. This came refurbished with a basic Windows 10 installation. As far as everyday use, I have a part time job building online help and interactive training on this device and have had no issues running it as a daily driver. I don’t do much gaming, so I can’t speak directly to that (outside of some Sim City). I will follow up with you on what tool from HP I did install.
I like this video, have a simular setup.
Have a Dell 5070 extended with a AMD 6400LP.
Surprised its runs so well, tested it with some gaming. Didnt expect a j5005 to be able to game with 10 wat tdp and only 8 pcie 2.0 lanes and 45 watts for the gpu.
Thanks for watching. I hope to do a few more episodes on this PC.
Mini g4, the gpu fan malfuntional. Anone heve solution plss
Hi there! It appears there might be fans on eBay for part number L19561-001. I’d verify the number and image on the listing before purchasing.
did you upgrade the power supply? what wattage and model is your power supply? thanks
Thanks for watching! Yes, I did upgrade it; however, mine came with a 135 watt power supply and the 150 watt power supply I purchased didn’t make much a difference.
Thanks for watching! Yes, I did upgrade it; however, mine came with a 135 watt power supply and the 150 watt power supply I purchased didn’t make much a difference.
Are you using the Larger Power Supply?
Thanks for watching. During the video, I used the 135 watt power supply that came with the unit. I purchased a 150 watt power supply off eBay. Honestly, the mini pc runs about the same; no noticeable additional power consumption.
Probably better off with a EGPU connected via oculink.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the input.
Wow, I don't know about external graphics card to HP G4 mini. I have two, and I am funboy this computer :). Thank you for movie.
Thanks for your watching.
hi nice video. can i ask would this be able to handle 4k movie playing as in kodi do you know? thanks
Thanks for watching. Based on the Kodi hardware requirements page, this EliteDesk exceeds the minimum requirements. 4K may push it a bit, but single streams might be okay. Playback of 4K video locally is fine.
I see Davinci Resolve, i click like
Thank you for watching!
Would you suggest a G6 or G5 over this G4 if I copy the same upgrade?
Thanks for watching. In short, I guess it depends on what you want to do. The HP Elitedesk 800 G6 has a recent Intel processor and a discrete Nvidia graphics card option. As I stated in the video, I create interactive, online training and online help systems. For me the G4 works fine, and two years ago the price was hard to beat.
HP ProDesk 405 G4 Desktop Mini pc is support this ?
Hi and thank you for watching. I reviewed the HP document and it doesn’t appear to have the expansion slot like what I have. h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06516348.pdf
I have an HP EliteDesk 705 G4 SFF, can I play games on it? 8GB RAM, A10-9700 CPU
Thanks for watching. I don’t have access to that PC, but I looked up the specs and benchmarks. Out of the box, I would say older titles might be okay, but nothing too graphics intensive. The CPU Geekbench numbers were 646 single-core and 1574 multi-core. For retro gaming, you should be fine up to PSP, and even then you might be stretching the limits. Anyone else want to chime in?
Did you exchange the standard power supply?
Thanks for watching. I did upgrade to the 150 watt power supply even though I had the 135 watt unit. Honestly, I haven’t noticed a different in wattage between the two.
I’m wondering about emulation, my stock one tops out at ps1, will this run ps2 & Xbox or higher?
Thanks for watching. Honestly, I don’t know but willing to try. If anyone else knows, let us know.
@@butterbagboy AMD RX560 isnt realy fast. Its 2,5 Times slower compare to a SteamDeck. This means ... If you Play emulated Games ... It Work fine. 30-60 FPS bottleneck is more the CPU If you use older Gen Intels.

What power watts 150 but what hp cord
Thanks for watching. Are you referring to the power suppy or the cord to the power supply. I believe the power cord is a three prong adapter.
Do you think this will work with Fedora/Ubuntu?
Thanks for watching. I believe that it should work with the PC and graphics card. I do plan a follow-up video(s) looking into alternative OSes, attempting Windows 11, and retro gaming. Have a few more shows before I can get to the revisit.
Very interesting
Thanks for watching.
Would the card work with g5

Does MGPU work with this set up?
Thanks for watching. Following the online instructions, I do not see the MGPU option under Gaming > Graphics > Advanced. I’m guessing this isn’t support with this setup.
Lenovo M720Q is better. You can use a standard Graficcard. I use a M910X with i9-9900T and a RTX A2000 with 64gb RAM and 4TB NVME with BazziteOS and PS5 Controller.

You can upgrade to windows 11
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I’ve contemplated upgrading, but haven’t pulled the trigger. Short term, I’m using the iProda Mini PC with Win 11 I reviewed for my side business usage while keeping the HP Elitedesk on Win 10 for future videos.

@heywhatisnext you're welcome. Apart from the repetitious phrase, it looked like a good video. That phrase is excessively over used by many Americans and it does get tiresome hearing it, especially as it is usually completely unnecessary in the context of the commentary.
