This semester is a scenic landscape. The first semester was building a house using blueprints and an actual picture of the house they want to create. The students are very good with SketchUp--it amazes me!
man this is awesome ! I haven't been on it much lately , but my school just finished a few days ago and I really wanna get into sketchup more because its a nice break from electronic music and it gives great inspiration
Whhhhhaaaatsup! Very good video! Helped a lot to walk through all those steps. Got the extension you mentioned in the video, as well as added those sandbox tools to my toolbar. Thanks for all the great content please keep it coming!
I have an idea for a fully sustainable house I want to build into the mountains in a town called Zermatt when I'm older. I'm wanting to build the main part of the house underground and this is exactly what I was looking for !
is it possible to create sandbox from scratch and then bind the outside perimeter to a 3d contour? in my example i've drawn the outer edges of a slope constrained between a road and the side of a house and it would be very convenient if i could define the outer contours of the area that smoove function wouldn't affect since it raises and lowers the junctions
Great video!! One quick question....my terrain keeps disappearing when I use the stamp tool in the sandbox palette. Any suggestion on what's happening? Thanks!!
Justin, Is sandbox or Toposhaper best for contours and drawing roads and placing buildings in contours? Or is there anything else? - A Great fan of urs!
Thanks, Justin, please can you make a video on how to make an opening in an assembled wall done in Profile Builder 2, its really draws me back to work with it because of that!!! Thanks in advance
Hi Ahmed - Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that either! If I had to, I'd probably draw my opening in place, then right click and intersect the geometry with your model, then delete out the leftover geometry. You might be able to do it with a component set in "Cut opening" mode as well, but I'm not 100% sure. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. You might try leaving a comment on this video - th-cam.com/video/jF9UxYG5Noo/w-d-xo.html - the creator may have some advice for you!
I like your sketch up video very much and can I ask you something. When u use the rotate tool, how to lock the red, blue and green direction easily thx
You all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Jeremy Braxton i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You mean like typing in an elevation? Not that I'm aware of - I think you just have to click, but you should probably be able to select the top plane after it's set and move it up or down manually
Hi Justin, thanks for the great how to videos. I was wondering how you would make the road level, from side to side, but also follow the grade of the terrain? I'm not sure if the stamping tool can do this. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thank you.
Hi Charles - honestly, I'm not really sure. I think maybe an extension like instant road might be able to do this? www.valiarchitects.com/subscription_scripts/instant-road-nui - Thanks!
Great thank you Can you show us how to keep a part flat by choosing specific areas that should stay flat. I am training on a hexagonal building that is on a hill with carpark entrances below. The land is 75meters by 75 meters and the building around 35meters across. It takes me like 30minutes to chose all the area to stay flat. Then when smoove the whole area it seems my flat area does stay flat but does not rise. The opposite of what I would like to achieve. Does one chose the lines of the faces ONLY or also the face underneath? Thank you very much
Can you use the stamp tool like I talked about about 6:30 in to create the flat area you're looking for? Basically draw the flat area as separate geometry up above, then use the stamp tool to stamp a flat area in your terrain? Thanks!
didnt know about the grid. i just make 1 x 1 squares, made group, moved them out, then exploded them and then moved them how i wanted. that tool saves times, really when you have like 300 groups you need to explode.
Yep - there's a few ways to do that. The first thing I showed actually works with imported CAD files. If you want something a bit more powerful, you may check out the extension Toposhaper - th-cam.com/video/-Jd-wiznAbo/w-d-xo.html - Thanks!
answered that I ,ve been trying to suggest to ARTISAN to create a MAKE FLAT TOOL ,and sk had it all the time ++++ drape and ..+++ 4 my POD CORE COMPOSIT HOUSING they do,nt need DECKS.. leave the ground as we found it... Jon..
That the road has something like a max slope. So that it for example wil cut throught sharp terain because it is to sharp so it wil make its max slope throught it. like highways throught a hilly landscape
Honestly I'm not sure. I doubt it since it existed as a separate extension in the desktop version, but it's possible they've added it - I haven't used the web version enough to know for sure. Thanks!
You'll have to check how your device compares to SketchUp system requirements, it's more likely a problem with hardware than the stamp tool itself. Hopefully it's just that you need a bit more RAM.
Well generally speaking, you're going to use SketchUp to create models, then export them to a game engine like Unreal or Unity to do the actual programming...Maybe start here - th-cam.com/video/uhw2DwcoXr8/w-d-xo.html
Do you...um...think that I can...what I can do is....umm...can I just come in here and what I can do is...add some detail...or I can just come in here and what I can do is add some detail? Lol jk man thanks for the help, much appreciated
too repetitive and losing the focus. try to be clean and simply. it´s better to learn just 1 thing in stead of forgetting 10... thank you for your effort
Your channel is life changing for those who work with SketchUp. I thought I knew a lot about SketchUp, I was wrong!
Fantastic. This saved me from a breakdown. your videos are great, thanks!
BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN
Honestly! This is a life saver!!! thanks for taking the time to make this video!!! Much appreciated and God bless!
Lots of stuff I didn't know about before. Now I can make my scenery for the modelrailroad in sketchup before making it in RL
Hey! Justin, really nice video. Helped a lot for creating some smoothies with the sandbox today. Loved the plugin. Thanks a lot.
Awesome!
Really thanks dude this helped me to create roads on contours instead of using instant road (paid plugin)
Awesome - glad it helped!
You are very helpful,God bless you 💙
I have learned so much from your videos, thank you!
that's awesome, thanks man!
Thanks Justin - your videos are always useful.
Good tutorial--very clear. I'm having my students create a mountain terrain.
Cool! Sounds like a fun exercise - are you having them put houses on them, or are you just focusing on the terrain?

Thank you for this content of sketchup really learnt a lot of skills
Awesome - glad you're finding it helpful!
Good intro to the Sandbox tools.

thank you very much.
Your all videos are very helpful for me.
Glad you're finding them helpful!
I struggle with terrain so much when designing residential landscapes. Which tool method would be the most efficient for my application?
Thanks so much! If I'm subtracting from the uneven ground, do I need to make it a solid first? Thanks!
Can we change the shape of the smoove tool?
thanks for the great tutorial, much appreciated !!
Glad you liked it!
Great videos 👍
thanks very clear again
Excellent. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
this really helpful..... is there away to make a drainage? because I try to find a way to make a empty space on that drainage and still failed
You'd just use sandbox tools to lower the geometry around the house probably...
Great video!! One quick question....my terrain keeps disappearing when I use the stamp tool in the sandbox palette. Any suggestion on what's happening? Thanks!!
No idea - is it a complex shape?
Can grids be formed on contour faces after it was formed from the 'Form Contours' command?
Justin, Is sandbox or Toposhaper best for contours and drawing roads and placing buildings in contours? Or is there anything else?
- A Great fan of urs!
Toposhaper is for import of contours, not for editing the contours...
Thanks, Justin, please can you make a video on how to make an opening in an assembled wall done in Profile Builder 2, its really draws me back to work with it because of that!!! Thanks in advance

Here you go - th-cam.com/video/tHYXGt84yGo/w-d-xo.html - You can tap the Up, Left, and Right keys to lock to the various axes. Thanks!
Great tutorial! Thanks so much, really helping to create some depth to my renders :) :)

@Jeremy Braxton It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass :D
@Carmelo Bruce no problem :D
Hello Justin! Is there a way to manually adjust the height when using the Stamp tool?
You mean like typing in an elevation? Not that I'm aware of - I think you just have to click, but you should probably be able to select the top plane after it's set and move it up or down manually
Very helpful! Thankyou
Glad it helped! :)

Right at 8m00s is gold
brilliant!
what if my project is not square. cuz sandbox tools default grid tool is square

Yeah - this is a lot faster - it's a nice tool to have. Thanks!

I don't understand what you're asking for
what kind of sketchup did you use?
Desktop version
The best I have seen THanks
Is there a way to make roads that follow partialy the topografie?
You mean other than using the drape tool in sandbox tools? What do you mean by partially?
That the road has something like a max slope. So that it for example wil cut throught sharp terain because it is to sharp so it wil make its max slope throught it. like highways throught a hilly landscape
Pls make a video on how to make ramps on these types of terrain plss plsss
thankyou!
quite helpfull
Ty
Is the sandbox tool available in the free web version of SU?
Honestly I'm not sure. I doubt it since it existed as a separate extension in the desktop version, but it's possible they've added it - I haven't used the web version enough to know for sure. Thanks!
Every time I try to use the stamp tool in the Sandbox, The program just freezes and can't do anything

thank you.....God bless
I’m using mac and I don’t know where to go to enable sandbox mode. Please help
This post is from 2017, but I assume it's in the same place - forums.sketchup.com/t/sandbox-tools-not-appearing-in-su2017/43187 - thanks!
how do you use sketchup to model for video games
Well generally speaking, you're going to use SketchUp to create models, then export them to a game engine like Unreal or Unity to do the actual programming...Maybe start here - th-cam.com/video/uhw2DwcoXr8/w-d-xo.html
That is like the fastest wifi connection
…what?
how to decrease the size of smoove circle
I showed you at 4:10. When you first activate the smoove tool, type in a value and hit enter
Very helpful. Why is there music in the background? It is a bit distracting.
I don't do that on newer videos
@@Thesketchupessentials Thank you.
I can't seem to download SketchUp. Can someone help me?
You're going to have to provide more information. Did you go to the SketchUp website? Where is the process not working for you?
OK but can I come in there though?
I don't understand the question...
👍
👊
I clicked “from scratch” and it created the small hash marks, but then it created a solid ass square and there’s no grid.
So, nobody's gonna talk about the music in the background lol?!
What about it?
yore presentation is good but beginners not friendly
Do you...um...think that I can...what I can do is....umm...can I just come in here and what I can do is...add some detail...or I can just come in here and what I can do is add some detail?
Lol jk man thanks for the help, much appreciated
Lol - Hopefully, in some of my more recent videos I've gotten better...
