I have really been looking into this bike as my first bike, been bouncing back and forth with the Indian scout bobber and the Honda shadow phantom.thank you for your awesome review
I got the honda shadow phantom as my first and loved it. Sadly it got wrecked cause someone blindly made a left turn and i couldnt stop in time. Now looking at used scout bobbers for my 2nd bike.
I've been riding my 2016 Scout ABS for 3 years & 14k miles; it's in a 2 up touring configuration. It is not a cross country bike, I've taken it on a 900 mile trip where the longest stretch was 450 miles the first day, and that was a bit much as comfort goes. And the wife can't handle more than 3 total hours of riding. Be that as it may, I Love my Scout! lots of day trips through the NC & VA mountains and forests, I can cruise, or shred with the best of them. I'm 6 ft / 190 lbs, and no comfort issues from that prospective. My biggest complaint is gas tank size, max range is 120-150, however, its also a blessing, because it forces me off the bike every 120 miles, which is about the longest I think comfort for most will be able to stand. Happy Riding!
I have the feeling that you were riding exactly the same bike I did the test drove during the Indian Motorcycle demo event in Scottsdale, AZ. All flat black paint with upgraded headlight and a saddle black bag in one side and Missouri License Plate. 😅
Yes, the Scouts have three options for the handle bars (extended, normal, reduced), and three options for the controls (extended, normal, reduced) making a total of nine combinations in just that area. BUT, they also have two seat options like the thicker reduced reach seat that pushes the rider forward. With all three reduced options in play somebody really short could ride pretty easily.
I can’t wait to get mid-controls for my scout bobber. I’m hoping to get more lean angle before scraping the pegs and also will get me out of that “V” shape position and more straight.
@@ridin_low193 with the seat height as low as it is I'm not sure how you would go about that and increase clearance at the same time. You would have to fold your legs like you were in a full squat.

Doubt anyone's paying attention to comments here anymore but how does this bike work for a beginner bike? I'm in love with the look of this thing and definitely want one but never road a street bike....
Really lookomg into these biks because i hear about their reliability compared to Harley's. With harley i would love a Fat Boy Lo/sport but they're consistentlly expensive and are actually much heavier than this. Which isnt a problem for me, but its a reliability issue...now this bike.... This is a nice bike. Gonna test ride one and if i get one, im gonna get a slip on exhaust
Do you think the scout bobber is a "better" bike than the victory octane? In terms of performance, ergonomics reliability? I know victory is kaput now, but I'm leaning towards one or the other.
Is it a stiff ride? Can the shocks be adjusted to make it more plush? Likewise can the foot pegs be moved back a bit? At your height (I'm 5'8) do you feel a bit 'stretched forward' and uncomfortable?
Hows it going Dan? Love your stuff ! Been asking around on a lot of channels and I hope you can give me a more detailed view on my decision(s). Im 6'2, 80kgs(150-170lbs). Zero riding experience. Last time I was on a bike I didn't go over 25kph. However I am aware of the clutch systems on bikes, balancing etc. I don't want to go through the trading in route, buy one bike then trade in for another as experience grows. What im concerned with is pricing etc. Firstly I wanted an 883, then a 1200 - due to body dimensions. Then I thought it would be best to get a breakout 2019, however that is a little expensive and unnecessary in the beginning of riding. Harley has a great cult feel to it. SO now I am even more confused due to the 48, 1200, and Roadster HD vs. Scout Bobber - I want to ride cross country, and I think changing the saddle on either bike would do the trick. I want the best for aesthetics and comfort. But which bike has become even more difficult as I go through more material online. Reminder ill be riding in Europe - So I would love anyones input on this and as yours as well Dan ! Again love your videos !
Nice review of the bike..ive been looking at them im 6'1 alitte tall but the bike still feels good.lots of power..after riding the Indian bobber..and your sportster if you didn't have a bike witch one of the two would you buy?
I'm one year into riding. My first bike is a Harley Davidson Street 750. I have really enjoyed the bike I think because it is low, (I'm 5'3 and easily flat footed on her). My only issue...I don't feel like she would be good on longer interesting rides. My longest is 3.5 hours, but I never felt like she was completely happy doing 70 mph. Is that just a power thing? How would the Scout bobber compare? You said it seems to have plenty power on the interstate which makes me think my initial interest is now validated. Thanks for the info!
The Scout bobber is a very low bike so you would definitely be able to flatfoot it. And it's actually it's just as powerful as my 1200 Sportster or more powerful. It does have a 6-speed so you'll be completely happy doing more than 70
You should come join the Discord. There's a lot of people there with some Scouts and more information about riding longer distances. Plus I hang out on there like almost all day rebrand.ly/DDFMChat
With intake and exhaust my bobber easily hits 120 on interstate. I don't really pay attention to the RPM but I would say going 80 in 6th it is around 4k?
The scout motor, untweaked, will do 125 on the highway. It has plenty of power and is pretty linear until you hit about 4500rpms, then it goes like a rocket. At that speed if I remember correctly it is in the high 6000s rpm wise. The governor kicks in at that point so the motor has legs to go beyond that speed with a tune. SAFETY NOTE: The tires are only rated to 130mph, so tread with caution above that.
You were 16, now 17 It doesn't mater, you aré old enough. But If you are a beginer You would probably want to start with something smaller. And the bike it's 1,130 CC. That goes for advertirse as a1,100.
Vow that's terrific! Tell me is it a comfortable bike? You were riding on a nice road without pot holes or bumps obviously but I'm very afraid about the the very short rear shocks reaction. Do you think a Corbin seat could be one solution to gain comfort? Or to install other rear shocks? Many thanks for video and have a nice trip.
I have the 2018 Bobber. I replaced the shocks and the seat. I put Performance Shocks on it and got a Corbin seat. It has made the bike much more comfortable. But, in general, it's a brilliant ride.
I’m 5’7” with a 28” inseam. I’m all torso. Depending on the bike I’m comfortable up to a 32” seat height depending on the ergonomics. I find almost all super sports uncomfortable. But I sat on a few of bmw’s bikes and found a lot of them comfortable. But I am very uncomfortable with a road glide. Now a street glide. That feels right at home. It’s very similar ergonomics to my Dyna. I also love the mt07 for ergonomics. But I don’t think it’s suspension would like my fat ass.
The bobber is a 25 inch seat height. It is extremely low to the ground and feels so good. I don't know how they did it. I'm glad you found a bike that fits you well
A much better looking bike than that ftr. It knows what it is, a cruiser with power. I like that it has a six speed, which is one drawback to my sportster
The Scout would be better than the Bobber if you are planning on long rides, but both can be made comfortable. A good seat and bars that fit you can be found easily and make it a cruiser if you want it. In stock form, the Bobber is good for about an hour before your butt needs a couple minutes of break, but with a good seat and maybe better shocks it can be an all day bike. The regular scout has a better seat and more suspension travel, so you can go a good bit longer.
I want.... but i have a wife... she need a car so no bike for me the next 5 years again....sold the last bike 5 years ago because we had to have a car now she needs one who dont need a driverslicens and it cost the same as a bike.. hate my life... so just sittning here dreaming... thanks for the vid
Did you find out if the bike you were riding was the one with the reduced reach controls? I'm about your size but don't have an indian dealer near me that i can try these bikes out at.
Bro, a question am about to buy a new motorbike and am confused between the scout and the scout bobber which one is better most of my rides are in town and highways every now and then the bike will be my daily ride? Thanks in advance
They are nearly identical mechanically, the Bobber has 2" of rear travel and the Scout has 3". My Scout is comfortable for a daily commute. I've had it just over 3 years and am about to hit 35,000 miles on it. No mechanical issues, I do have a recurring problem with the trigger switch on the control not working sometimes, bit my dealer has always repaired that under warranty. Either is a fantastic bike, I guess the real question is how smooth of roads are you riding on?
Hey Dan; I hope ur fine. I been watching ur videos since a long time. Also I know that u have been making test drives in Indian bikes. I guess u are going to buy an FTR1200. Let me tell u that I was going to buy a Scout until I saw the Chief Dark Horse it’s bigger but I think it’s more trustable so I’m about to go and get it in about two weeks. @@DanDanTheFireman and I thought I read somewhere that the bobber seat pushes you forward a little bit... so that will help with my short legs if it's the case. And I have found somewhere thst they make mid controls... but bike they short, I am not sure how I would feel... feel like my legs would go to sleep a lot

Anyway, he put on a aftermarket mid control set. That made me want the bike even more. How are the lean angles? That's my only real concern now

Bottom line water cooled 100 horsepower hard at the beat we should got better fuel mileage or bigger tank
Indian's are cool but I am real happy with my Triumph Bobber.
but those are so uggggggly :(
Do you think the scout bobber is a "better" bike than the victory octane? In terms of performance, ergonomics reliability? I know victory is kaput now, but I'm leaning towards one or the other.
Love the overall look. But thr cillinders are awefull. Nothing on harley in my opinion. But good looking bike besides the engine i gues.
Is it a stiff ride? Can the shocks be adjusted to make it more plush? Likewise can the foot pegs be moved back a bit? At your height (I'm 5'8) do you feel a bit 'stretched forward' and uncomfortable?
I'm looking at teh Vulcan S, Yammy Bolt, and Scout...Bike courses should be tax decuctable as well as insurance discount?
02:02 V position, we call them taco stance lol
I 3ant to take another msf training before getting the scout bobber. Can’t wait
What kind of gloves to you have @dandanthefireman
They look like Roland Sands
check out the fancy ones lowbrowcustoms has. they have handmade tuf guy gloves
That feeling when you want a scout but ride a 250 rebel. 😭 Just can't afford a bigger bike even if I want to
Nice review of the bike..ive been looking at them im 6'1 alitte tall but the bike still feels good.lots of power..after riding the Indian bobber..and your sportster if you didn't have a bike witch one of the two would you buy?
It would be dope to take a trip to Mt Lemmon with that bike
What site can I go to , to find the best deals I want the 2019 Indian scout bobber
I'm so torn between an Indian scout or Kawasaki vulcan 900.
Change the seat I did on my 2020 twenty ABS and now it's secured. Old seat is bad
Subbed! I'm thinking of buying. Thanks for the review.
Would you consider the bobber a good beginner bike?
@@DanDanTheFireman will do!
When your 16 you can get a 50cc but I’m just wondering how old do you have to be to be able to own this bike ? What cc is it ?
1200 lol
You were 16, now 17 It doesn't mater, you aré old enough. But If you are a beginer
You would probably want to start with something smaller.
And the bike it's 1,130 CC. That goes for advertirse as a1,100.
This is one of my dream bikes, but I fear my 28"-29" in inseam won't fit right on it. The curse of being a short rider.
Reduced reach controls, they sell a boot on kit on their website
@@twowheelsclubseals i saw a video of a 5'2 woman flat footed on the bike with ease.
Does this bike lean learn to the right? How's the balance?
Why don't they make the speedometer a little bigger, so that the rider don't have to squint so much.
I want to snag a scout . looks freaking awesome
Yea a 6th speed is awesome. The FTR is just gonna be way too much fun. Street Tracker time!
btw the Sportster has a 6th gear; they omitted the 5th gear
What would you rate the Indian scout for long rides (Touring) 1 through 5 Raiding ??
The Scout would be better than the Bobber if you are planning on long rides, but both can be made comfortable. A good seat and bars that fit you can be found easily and make it a cruiser if you want it. In stock form, the Bobber is good for about an hour before your butt needs a couple minutes of break, but with a good seat and maybe better shocks it can be an all day bike. The regular scout has a better seat and more suspension travel, so you can go a good bit longer.
Thanks! Is this ok for a tall guy?
I’m riding Yamaha FC-07 for 6 months and plan to change to scout bobber or fat bob
What is you recommendation based on your test riding?
I want an indian scout sixty, but my wallet says to get something like a rebel 500 or maybe a vulcan s
Hey quick question:
Could getting new handlebars on it make it less aggressive?
I want.... but i have a wife... she need a car so no bike for me the next 5 years again....sold the last bike 5 years ago because we had to have a car now she needs one who dont need a driverslicens and it cost the same as a bike.. hate my life... so just sittning here dreaming... thanks for the vid
Dude you can buy a used bike for like a grand and some wrenches for $30.
That blue mike that’s riding to your right side in front of you is sweet!! What model is it?
Hi Dan, were you able to confirm if the bike you were on in fact was equipped with the reduced reach handlebars or were they the standard ones?
Man your my height and hearing your take was perfect man thanks! Been looking at one was thinking of maybe used what’s your advice?
These are amazing bikes. You'll love it
DanDanTheFireman Awesome thanks man!
@@DanDanTheFireman how tall are you
@@DanDanTheFireman never mind you’re 5’6
Hey Dan, whats the motorcycle jacket and pants you're wearing? I need to get some gear and I like the kevlar thing vs. the traditional leather.
Would 5'4 feet tall girl b comfortable on any kind of bobber ( not just indian scout)
Take a look at the kawasaki vulcan 650 really nice bike and about 3 grand cheaper.
Too bad companies don't listen to customers! WTF? Seat comfort is the MOST important! I'm 5'6" too w/29" inseam...reviews appreciated!
Exelente moto para aventuras campestres.gracias.
Do you think someone 6ft1 would be comfortable on the bobber? The only reviews I've seen have been from little guys
Did you find out if the bike you were riding was the one with the reduced reach controls? I'm about your size but don't have an indian dealer near me that i can try these bikes out at.
Really like the look of this bike but....being 6'2" 225, afraid this bike might not be big enough. Anyone fitting those stats know, by any chance?
Would you say this is a good beginner bike? I really want it but I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before.
Saitama _ go for it.
I wish I was short. I look like I'm riding a mini bike on it. Sucks because I like the scout the best out of all their bikes
How tall are you?
What kind of gloves are those
Bro, a question am about to buy a new motorbike and am confused between the scout and the scout bobber which one is better most of my rides are in town and highways every now and then the bike will be my daily ride? Thanks in advance
They are nearly identical mechanically, the Bobber has 2" of rear travel and the Scout has 3". My Scout is comfortable for a daily commute. I've had it just over 3 years and am about to hit 35,000 miles on it. No mechanical issues, I do have a recurring problem with the trigger switch on the control not working sometimes, bit my dealer has always repaired that under warranty. Either is a fantastic bike, I guess the real question is how smooth of roads are you riding on?
What kind of gloves are you wearing?
They look very much like the Roland Sands Bronzo Gloves
Hey Dan; I hope ur fine. I been watching ur videos since a long time. Also I know that u have been making test drives in Indian bikes. I guess u are going to buy an FTR1200. Let me tell u that I was going to buy a Scout until I saw the Chief Dark Horse it’s bigger but I think it’s more trustable so I’m about to go and get it in about two weeks. Could u please try to make a video about the chief dark horse? I would like to listen ur opinion about. Greeting Daniel from Mexico City
Daniel Flores also debating between the chief dark horse and the scout bobber!!
It won't be your first bike will it?
blightedmonkey I had another one a few years ago. But it was an old 250 cc. The Chief Dark Horse is going to be my first big bike.
@@daniel740828 that's a big jump man. 250 to a dark horse lol it's going to be tuff.
Personally I prefer the smaller to mid class power cruisers. Things that pull like a train but I can still flick em in and out of traffic.
Goodluck with your search mate
I'm looking at getting my first bike and I am leaning towards this or the bolt... I'm 5'3.... do you think this would be a good bike for a short beginner?
This is a good bike for a short beginner. It has a very low seat height
I love this bike but also wanted mid controls. I researched it and found out that nikki sixx has a motorcycle channel on TH-cam. He owns a scout bobber and mods it himself. Anyway, he put on a aftermarket mid control set. That made me want the bike even more. How are the lean angles? That's my only real concern now
Robert Stimmel hey bro. I think you mean Rikki Rockett.
Yep, Rikki Rocket from Poison
@@dryphillogic Haha. I knew it was one of those guys.
The trump Bob bber 👍 Motorcycle very go0d ! I got a sporster HD in San Diego ca , : / very desapoint with HD ,
Great Video
I am torn between scout and scout sixty. It would be my first bike. Anyone here who has experiences with both kindly provide some feedback/advice
I will have this bike some time soon. 🤔🙂
Hey bro great vid!- much love from South Africa
Much love from Murica!
You forgot about
C. Both
😉
I finally made my mind yesterday to buy a kawasaki vulcan. And now you show me this .... haaaa
So apparently the scout is not confy on long rides + it heats too much. Hm hm what to do
+ It's not really the same price
The bobber is uncomfortable somewhat, the Scout is just fine.
Would that Indian bike be good for a frist time rider
100 hp could be a bit much for a beginner
Do you get much engine heat on your legs? I live in Central Texas and it's hot enough just curious about how much heat that bike puts out
Yes alittle. Not a ton though
I had 2018 scout I live in California I could not Stand the heat the engine put out so I sold it at a lost best thing I did in town riding you cook from the engine heat
