YES! All I could think about while watching this was all the people I hired/trained over the years for GameStop and and eventually seeing all my sweet summer children get their spirits crushed when they realized that it was a job that you could easily get fired for. I was able to keep a couple core teams together for a couple years at differeny stores The bad part about every gamer wanting to work at GameStop is that they have a never ending supply of resumes. Too many crap AMs and DMs won't take time to REALLY train and teach new employee to learn to run the store, over just point and scan. If someone doesn't catch on .....🥾
This totally fits as a metaphor for Kyle and Beck's career on SNL as well. They were friends and comedians together who both got hired at the same time at their dream job, a place that has influenced them since their childhoods. There, they met the people who they've idolized as icons, but who they now get to work with on a daily basis. Even Lorne Michaels could be interpreted as that owner at the end.
These Beckett/Mooney sketches are so corny but I always smile when I watch them. I don't think their aim is to get laughs as it is to realistically explore a fringe slice of life.
+Nihilist Porcupine You might already know about it, but search goodneighbor on youtube, it's their old YT channel. They don't upload on it anymore but there's some hilarious stuff on there
lorne is probably taking them after Andy samberg, whose digital shorts became more popular on the internet through TH-cam. he knows what he's doing, the only main difference is that sambergs shorts were aired on television lol
I love how Kyle and Beck's videos hone in on such a specific part of our culture. Especially the millennial generation but in a very non-obvious way I don't know how they do it but it is amazing
I would be remiss to not mention how perfect Leslie is in this skit. She plays off Beck and Kyle's quirkiness with everyday apathy and weariness of an average low wage worker. Her expressions are priceless AND she is a great cast member contrary to TH-camrs.
Watching dudes like this and after watching a few of their skits on SNL it seems like they're in a totally different league from the other actors/writers these guys could easily be legends, especially kyle
+Danny Steeler I just work at a grocery store, I am applying to a steel workers union soon. What videos? I don't have that interesting of stuff on TH-cam, lol.
Yes, if only everyone were this excited about their jobs. Unfortunately, others always seem to make it their job to discourage this - as demonstrated in this skit.
I'd imagine if jobs like this paid better wages/fair compensation for overtime/possibility to buy shares in the company and offered decent healthcare they would. Job satisfaction should not be the exclusive purview of people with prodigious student debt. (that is not to say that there aren't people with degrees in jobs they hate, certainly no shortage of that, but they also have more options) - every person putting in a fair day's work, no matter whether they're sweeping the street or managing a chemical plant, should be able to have a decent, baseline standard of living without killing themselves at multiple soul-crushing jobs and getting a scant few hours of sleep a night.
I definitely have had a few co-workers like this in my retail jobs before. Specifically Beck's character at my job at Lush, and at the library at my college. It was intense.
I don’t know why but I love this sketch, the “grow a guy sketch” and the “pumpkin F@$king” sketch. For some reason the weirdness always makes me laugh.
2:56 Pete’s “you don’t seem like it” with a cigarette in his mouth does it for me. Something about it reminds me of old school SNL humor, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase.
They did such a good job of creating this little world that I already anticipated the Pogie character coming into frame once that music started playing.
The Pogie’s Pepperoni sketch on SNL is like a parody of the Chuck E Cheese franchise and I also really like their quirkiness of Kyle and Beck bring to the sketch also they are really funny and make me laugh every single time on screen!

OH GOD NO
Because they exploded?
I find it hard to believe that anyone who interacted with games stop in any capacity acted like this when hired.
They need to make a playlist for weird ass Kyle sketches so it's easier to find.

Do you think this is how Kyle and Beck actually reacted when they got hired by SNL? I'd like to imagine that it is!
sooo cute
Yep this is totally normal we can just be on tv every Saturday on snl totally normal

Did they die when they met Lorne?

I love Leslie in this sketch cause it sound like she has lost the will to live like most of the people at Chuck E. Cheese
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Like pretty much any retail/food service employee with any aspirations who is over the age of 21, lol.
So true lmao
It depends. The employees at the Chuck E. Cheese near me are all very friendly and are always smiling. My kid loves that place

NO, it's simultaneously corny and hilarious.
I knew kids like this in high school. they were a couple smart-asses and now I think they actually have dead-end jobs at Pogie pepperonis
Mitzi73 totally agree. It's very much geared towards a certain generation 😊 it's not as slapstick like a lot of classic SNL skits idk
Kyle needs his own show like Fred did
