I like how they use Mikey. Usually he’s kind of the straight man but every once in a while they’ll put him in a zany sketch like this and it always pays off
My favourite zany sketch with him is David S Pumpkins where he screams "Ayyye Papi!!" 😂 Oh wait, that's Bobby! But Mikey's moaning is equally hilarious!
Waste of an awesome effect, yeah. It would've been cool if at some point he just let it rotate like 3 or 4 times; it seemed pretty smooth. I don't think he had a lot of confidence in the rig or his ability to recover cleanly though. You can see how he's very defensive and cautious during the single spin. As a result we get quality work on a neat set piece that is tragically underutilized.
@@andrewharvey3282 Eh, they are kinda crowded on the stage, so I imagine that he was afraid to do it too much cause if he spun it too hard or too soft he would have to jerk around to correct the orientation, which could have distracted or bumped into the other actors. Also, not only was he not on camera much, there were a lot of cuts. He may have done more attempts that just didn't make it into the final product.
This video was perfect! The voices, costumes, even the crook & police! I was very impressed with the animatronic actors, they acted & sounded so authentic! And when Kenan Thompson stayed behind to dance with the Pizza Band, priceless! 😆

I went to Circus Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese as a kid, and this is spot-on. The animatronic band was called "The Rock-afire Explosion," and, honestly, it's a great name for a band.
There are two reason why everybody is piling on SNL in 2024: 1) It's the 50th season, so natch 2) They break too much in regular sketches, the opening especially. The only acceptable times to break are when the cast interrupts the monologue or does a side-bit on Weekend Update. This sketch works largely because Keenan rarely breaks.
Thank you for uploading this SNL. I was gone that Saturday night and came home to my kids talking about "pizza, pizza pie". I found it but it wasn't got quality. Happy you uploaded the clip... good stuff.
