  • This is my favorite rendition of Lovin' You. The wistful sweetness in Minnie's voice and melancholy tone of the violins make it such a bitter sweet affair.

I have just read her Wikipedia page which prompted me to seek out this particular performance. She had two children Marc and Maya Rudolph (actress Bridesmaids). When she originally wrote this song there is a part where she sings “Maya Maya” repeatedly. This was to distract her daughter when she was a child. But if you notice at 3 minutes in of this performance she sings “Maya Maya Ringo Ringo”. Ringo was her nickname for her son Marc. Because she knew that she didn’t have long to live and wanted to include ‘both’ her children. What a tear-jerker aye?… Well it’s certainly made me well up that’s for sure. Peace my fellow brothers and sisters! ✌🏻🫶🏻

It's taken me 2 full days to gather my thoughts...but July 12, 2019 marked FORTY YEARS, since the awful and inconceivable loss of this gorgeous and beautifully talented angel-a victim of breast cancer which metastasized. Even more fascinating is to know that actress/comedienne (and SNL alum)Maya Rudolph, is the only daughter of the incredible Minnie Riperton. Besides Maya, Minnie left behind her husband, the recording producer Richard Rudolph, and young son Marcus. Such sadness is so hard to put into words, the tragedy of losing Ripperton at just age 31. I find myself unable to comprehend what her life may have been, had her illness been attacked early on, with modern medicine and technology...Minni would have been just 71 years young today. RIP Minnie Ripperton(and condolences to Richard, Maya and Marcus Rudolph on what surely must have been a sad day for all "LOVIN", and undoubtedly, remembering Minnie).

    This is what i meant
She fought on till the end
    She smiled through the pain
She didnt do what some of us today would do , sulk around and be sad because of what is to come
She strode on and gave us a final concert
I truly think she deserves more recognition for all she has done

@@theelvisguru9490"No god would take away someone like her in such a painful way".
It's the consequences of what we have done as humans. All of us. Not just the first humans.
Each and every one of us has sinned.
We've been given a gift of salvation from the 2nd death through Yahusha Hamashiach (Christ). I pray Minnie truly accepted salvation through HIM. If she did, she is peacefully resting till the first resurrection and day of judgement.
It's laughable to hear people who are irreverent to GOD attempt to criticize HIM on a moral level even though HE *created* us.
You are not the creator of chicken, cows, pigs etc. but you eat them and thus play a role in the killing of them. You have never created a single leaf yet you use paper, and thus play a role in trees being cut down. Never have you created a single leg of a roach or fly yet that doesn't stop you from killing them etc. Never created a single tooth of a dog nor a single claw of a cat and yet you remove their wombs and other reproductive parts/advocate for that at your own discretion...
Yet you think you are justified in questioning how The Creator, The Almighty GOD decides to let us part from this world....

Never get tired of listening to Minnie Ripperton. She was a class act. Such golden perfection in her vocal abilities. Just her singing with the orchestra backing her, it doesn't get any better than that!

Actually, Ringo was her son Marc's nickname. She absolutely loved her children so much she immortalized her connection with them in two songs, As heard here in "Lovin You" and also in "Wouldn't Matter Where You Are" (Marc.... I'm Calling You; I've got to get my hands on you right now).

Nobody I mean nobody has complete control of the Whistle Register like Minnie did. She never strains to get those notes they just come to her.

    • @TW-mg3ld
      @TW-mg3ld 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Betty Wright, Shanice, Chante Moore and Denice Williams could maintain the register but Betty Wright had the strongest Whistle Register

I think you did not understand what I said. I did not say Minnie was the only. I said she is the greatest user of this Register as she is the only fully trained opera singer. Her use and ability supersedes all. Betty Write uses it only for novelty not actual singing in the way Minnie does. She had every normal technique a singer uses in head voice in this register, this can not be said for anyone else. Also You dont know Minnie if you think Betty has the strongest. Minnie used the technique of removing weight from notes to fit the song she did. Often her songs required light notes which is harder than the reverse she would make it sound almost non human. She also could throw all her weight into a note like Betty only could. Please dont ever disrespect the first Operatic R&B singer who is the greatest of them all @@TW-mg3ld
