some guys re-skinned Unreal Tournament 2002 or something similar to be thieves vs. guards and it looked amazing, never got a chance to try it

The best god-awful movie set in Ireland ever. Almost entirely shot in Wicklow Town, County Wicklow. The novel that it is based on, was set in England, in (I have not read it, I am just going by reviews) the fictional town of Lasherham in what was presumably meant to be a reasonable size English market town in the countryside, making his debt enforcer living at least possible, in theory. In a tiny place like (Ballymoran aka Wicklow Town), no chance. The English novel's Mark Taffin was an ugly Phil Mitchell-esque bruiser so the author wasn't best pleased with Pierce 'Skinny Pretty Boy Fucker' Brosnan being cast. There never were any strip clubs in Wicklow Town either, then or now. Endlessly quotable...we really need a Bluray commentary from the man from Navan, come on Pierce embrace your oeuvre!

It's such a pity that this movie wasn't better, because the core idea really isn't that bad. The themes are pretty solid - the hypocrisy of the townsfolk (they accept Taffin only as long as he's willing to do their dirty work while they keep their conscience clear) would be pretty interesting to see explored in a better movie.
