It’s also the only weapon iirc that has both serration and righteous attributes, the whip being serrated and the cane being righteous ofc.
visceral damage is totally independent of weapon damage. It’s solely determined by your skill attribute/applicable runes Your initial thrust damage is based on the weapon you’re using. You can test it by having no R2 weapon (bare-hand, like you start the game) and just doing backstabs that way. The visceral damage will be constant based on the enemy.
@@ZoeBatemanactually, it does matter which form you use, as with the transformed whip form, not only do you get a serrated bonus, you also get a 15% skill scaling increase, meaning you do more visceral damage in whip form over cane form.
The Threaded Cane is, in my estimation (from over 2100 hours of play), the best weapon in Bloodborne. It's faster than most weapons even in whip form, has access both to the Holy Damage modifier and the Serrated Damage modifier, scales mostly off of Skill, which both increases its Visceral Attack potential *and* means that it can be enhanced to ridiculous damage levels with a Heavy Abyssal Blood Gem, and its moveset is by far the most versatile of any weapon. It's got crowd control, single-target range, hits around corners and through walls, its basic attacks are wide and sweeping enough to catch dodging enemies, its heavy Whip attacks have surprisingly good stagger potential at a decent range, and its transform attacks deal excellent damage while also switching to a more-needed form at the time. Most other weapons have at least some of these benefits, but no weapon has *all of them.* The one drawback to using the Threaded Cane is that it's not the best option for a first playthrough during the early game, because it takes a while for its scaling and Blood Gems to catch up with the other starting weapons, but other than that, it pretty much has no downside.
I agree with most of this, and have to add something. Starting with the addition, you don’t even mention that the serrated form is great against a large portion of enemies and bosses, and then when you add fire paper, oh god. This is why I don’t agree with all you said, because the Threaded Cane is actually EXCELLENT for a first playthrough in early game. The whip is so damn good to take out the hordes in that first area, and this weapon shreds apart Cleric Beast, and Gascoigne.
The best part is it’s transform form is one handed, something only a few weapons can boast to have in the game, leaving you to choose any sidearm needed for any encounter.
I just like skill builds and one handed weapons because I LOVE parrying. I’ve gotten pretty good at. I can basically parry lock Lady Maria. Most fun for me! The cane fits that perfectly.

The thing about the threade cane is it requires the most stat investment of the 3 starting weapons but when you get 50 50 strength and skill the cane outpreforms the axe and the cleaver by a mile
@@MsYunaFires naw, don’t really need strength unless you need it for your secondary weapon. I invest just enough stats to wield the LHB as my secondary, everything else goes into Skill, Vitality, and Endurance. You dominate most bosses and enemies
on release, quite a lot of guides recommended the cane because the whip can target heads easier and has a longer reach, which was friendly to newbies. i remember it was between the cane, kirk’s hammer and the axe before people started worshiping the cleaver and saw spear
You left out that it is great because the transformed state is highly effective against most enemies, and especially most bosses, in the game. While only a few things are weak to the holy damage that the base form does, that base form has not one single enemy that is resistant to its damage type, either. It also scales with skill, so a visceral attack is going to do extra damage, and if you do a visceral on a boss while using flames, that boss is going down easily. Plus the best crowd control, and despite what people say, you do stagger opponents with this weapon. There are literally a shit ton of reasons to use the Threaded Cane while there is not one single reason you shouldn’t use it
I wouldn’t say best crowd control, I had the whip as my secondary on my first playthrough and I’ve felt like my amygdalan arm is better at dealing with crowds on my second. This might just be me coping though, since I fell in love with the arm’s moveset the first time I tried it, and I might just be deluding myself into thinking it’s better than it is. Also, you forgot to mention that the whip to cane transformation animation is the best thing in this entire game

Cleaver might be outclassed by many other weapons but L1 transformed attacks are shredding (specially if the enemy decides to stand still) It also consumes the same stamina as fists (correct if im wrong) and has more moves when charging transformed R2

Been stuck on logarius and I got a level 7 Ludwig holy blade with 30 vitality 25 strength and 20 skill and you’re over here making him look like a pushover with less health. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I know I’m a bit late but telling you won’t hurt either I guess In phase 1, dodge to the left. Almost all of his phase 1 attacks can be dodged by doing this. You wanna hit him once (if you’re using your LHB in short sword form, twice would be fine as well) as he will sidestep once he takes damage. Stick to him like glue as he’ll punish you very badly if he gets distance from you. In this phase, you’re not really trying to get damage in rather get him into phase 2 as quickly as possible. When he is about to enter phase 2, he’ll thrust his staff into the ground. He takes a while to transition so use this time to stagger and visceral him. For phase 2, I highly recommend you use a gun like the hunter’s pistol. Unlike phase 1, now you wanna let Logarius come to you and parry him when he attacks. When he attacks with scythe, parry as he is about to swing and with the sword, parry when he is mid-attack. When he flies up to attack from the side, dodge left and he’ll miss you. If he goes directly on top of you, it’s a bit tricky to deal with but I recommend you run in the direction he was last at. Lastly, when stabs the ground with his sword, shoot it.
I learned recently that Bloodborne has a parts system (sort of like monster hunter) where if a part is broken you do much more damage, maybe it was that
I guess I missed that part in the video, but what I do know: Amelia is vulnerable to serrated, which is the damage type of the whip form, so extra damage is done. The cane also stems from Skill, which is the stat that also increases Visceral Damage. A lot of bosses have different places you can attack. For Amelia and Cleric Beast, the head especially, which you can shoot to stagger them, and the whip form can also reach there occasionally. Then doing a visceral in whip form on staggered Amelia (or Cleric) will do bonus damage because of serrated damage and also because the Skill stat raises the visceral damage output. If you have a fire gem, or fire paper, which if I remember right you could have at least one fire paper by the time you get to Amelia, it does even more damage, and the fire damage is also added into the visceral attacks which takes off an even bigger chunk of the health bar.
