I’m in Indianapolis and travel FAR. Many states away for the right cars/ deals. I want to buy your 2.0t 2009+ a4 a5 a6 q5 that has a failed engine for any reason. If you want to keep it and fix it I could travel to you and fix it mobile mechanic style to help my career/ TH-cam gig. NaptownTuner@yahoo.com If I don’t reply soon hit me up on here then I’ll check back at the email thanks
Help me out ! I have CDN engine 2.0 tfsi b8 2010 with the same problem . I found a 2015 CDN 90k km engine . Dose it fit ? Needs cooding ? I`m not in the USA cuz i def come to you to fix it . Love your stuff great job .
Love NaptownTuner, just did a b8 A5 master cylinder with his instructions, didn't take the firewall/plenum out, just removed what I needed and zipped the new one on. Thank you brother, Jesus loves you!
Life long domestic backyard mechanic here and greatly appreciate these vids! The last couple years I've ventured toward Audi and love em. My godson blew up his A5 2.0T and I told him I'd help replace with a junkyard unit. It's been a challenge but these vids helped in a huge way prior to tackling the job, thanks! And WTF is up with that starter wire!? Holy stupid!
Thanks for the nice tips I m a 30 years experience mechanic But your tips made much easier I got a brand new engine From the dealer This a4 runs great now No mor adding oil every 400 hundred Miles Thanks again
Can't say thank you enough for making my life so much easier with this walk thru. Something I planned to do on my own and decided to check youtube before starting and found the man Naptown. Job has gone so much quicker and easier, and not a dull moment from Naptown which seems to help retain the instruction. Thx!
Great commentary! I appreciate the sarcasm, humor and how you break down each step. Too many “how to” videos gloss over steps that are routine to a professional mechanic and not so routine to the rest of us. I’ve got the 2.0 in my ‘08 A4 and ‘14 Q5 and can see this job in my future. Someone needs to send you a GoPro to strap on your head to cut down on your one handed carnival tricks.
I've been waiting for a video like this since 2014. Thank you for this educational and tutorial video. I will be pulling my engine and I will be replacing the piston and piston rings.
My sons and I just completed an engine removal and replacement install on my sons 2013 A4 Quattro - your videos and info came in very handy (had to remove head on original engine to get piston parts out to turn engine to access flywheel bolts UGH)... not sure I would have attempted it without your information a BIG THANK YOU!
I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I had the opportunity to do a job on a 2010 Audi A4 TSFI, and your engine removal advice really served me well. Thanks to videos like the ones you do, one can better guide oneself when carrying out work!
I just finished a piston job on my A4. The removal videos were a huge help! Followed them and everything worked great. There is a hole in the aluminum engine cradle to give you access to the back A/C compressor bolt FYI. Big thanks to NaptownTuner for putting these videos together!
This series was great. I pulled the 2.0TFSI without much issue from my A4. I now want to pull 3.2FSI from my Q5 but can’t find any videos. Is it much different?
So I finished the piston rebuild today on my 2015 Audi Q5, thanks to Naptown Tuner’s videos. It took a lot longer than I thought. She started up, ran for 10 seconds then started smoking, now the car won’t start…I really hope I didn’t just destroy all of that work.
Gave it a little gas and kept trying and it started up again, the smoke was caused by an oil leak…I forgot to torque down the vacuum pump bolts! @NaptownTuner - a reassembly video would be really helpful, there were several cases where I’d go to put something back and realize that I route things wrong, had to disassemble things, then resemble the right way.
You’re an animal, and hella amusing. I get a great laugh all the way through. You are very thorough, everything is explained. I regret that I’m having to work on this damn thing. Told my wife and son, get a Toyota or Honda. Thank you very much. You give me confidence to get through this awful job, lol.
I’ve appreciated your posts and educational videos! The engine in my ‘13 q5 is bad. Do you have an opinion on the “best year” 2.0t to look for to swap?
@naptownTuner hey hopefully you can help. I rebuild my engine with your video but I can't remember where the positive wire coming from the starter goes connected to. Any ideas ??
my daughters 2011 A4 Turbo had the timing chain jump. The Audi dealer said the valves bent & they hit the top of the piston so it needs overhaul or a new engine. I'm a decent backyard mechanic. I'd like to rebuild it myself. What are your thoughts?
Excellent video!! Picking up a B8 A5 2.0T with jumped timing this week. Is it worth repairing the timing in terms of money and time myself or dropping a whole new engine in?
I want to do a timing chain replacement on a 2010 A4 quattro. I have never done a job like this. Do I need to take the engine out to do the timing or can it be done with the engine on
Best tutorial on youtube, Thanks! Subscribed. Question, i have A6 Multitronic 01J. Do i need to remove bolts of torque converter? I believe multitronic CvT does not have a converter? Keep up the good work! 🎉
Hello. I just want you to know that your video is very informative. Great job! I have a question though. Is it possible to put a supercharge engine to a 2010 audi a4, let say from 2011 s4?
Hey NaptownTuner. I’m doing my own research I’ve found that the a4 engine is the same as the TT engine, but the TT is transverse. Do you know if they are interchangeable as far as mounting goes?
I was looking at buying 2010 Audi A4 platinum Quattro, had oil on a hose lower section closest to radiator likely hood it’s oil or transmission fluid? Viewpoint looking down with flashlight thru hood hatch/radiator area and online manuals say it’s a coolant hose? Should I be concerned about this before purchase/expensive fix, your thoughts?
Hey I got a 2006 avant with tip trans.im putting a manual trans engine in it.the manual crank needs a custom bushing to receive tip trans input shaft.do u know a vendor that makes this little gem? Btw your invaluable
Your video set for engine removal was awsome, very helpful. I bought a 2010 A4 with jumped time, all intake valves wiped out. I thought to do an engine out survey like you did but have been having second thoughts about just sneaking the head off and rebuilding it and then redoing the timing components...Any thoughts?
Eventually I might get into other audis, I’m not really a fan of the b7 though so it would have to be for someone else. I’d probably do 3.0t stuff next but I’m doing a 1.8t Passat clutch next week so that’s very similar
I have a 2010 A5 2.0 tfsi quattro tiptronic cabriolet, the engine consumen oil and I have to rebilled the engine the problem arrive after calling repair cars garages and any body I can imagine, I did not fine any body to do it, making the story short, if I take the engine and send it to you, do you rebuilt it and send it to me? I live in Hawaii Oahu, I can send you the engine buy ship and return same or any other way. Please let me know I love my car and I will tried to find a way to repair it.
Pink hat gained you a sub, Also " Im working with one hand and holding the other hand with the camera" Ill be doing this job in a week or so to replace my rings,pistons,rods... 13:50 "there is going to be 6 bolts, let me show you to them" lol

What year is your Audi
Is it the same thing for a 2006 A4?
B6 and B7 have timing belts
2011
Can you also pull the 3.2 engine from a Q5 without putting it in service position?

@naptownTuner hey hopefully you can help. I rebuild my engine with your video but I can't remember where the positive wire coming from the starter goes connected to. Any ideas ??
Are the bolts from the crank shaft caps reusable when installing new main bearings
Is the removal process the exact same if it were a 6 speed manual??? Or does the front clip have to be removed ?

Would you be able to tell me if the process would be the same on a 2007 A4 with the 2.0?
@naptowntuner would you personally recommend the 2.0t in the Q5 2013 or the 3.2 v6 in a 2012?
Where abouts are you located. You need any side work?
would this be similar for a b7 a4 this is the only good video I could find for pulling an engine
Hey NaptownTuner. I’m doing my own research I’ve found that the a4 engine is the same as the TT engine, but the TT is transverse. Do you know if they are interchangeable as far as mounting goes?

What if your engine is seized and you can’t spin the pulley using the 24mm socket to spin the torque converter to get the 3 bolts
Hey is this process the same for the Quattro and FWD models?
Do you need to remove the torque converter bolts when its a 6 speed or will the engine break free with them still attached?
is this process similar to a b7 a4 this is the only good video i can find for pulling an engine

Do you happen to have the part number of the cover you removed at 24:43 ?
What size are the bell housing bolts
Question are you using a bar to keep the engine up? Cuz im wondering why the engine didnt drop when u removed the mount bolts
Another great video! Thanks
Noticed the exhaust system was already removed....would like to have seen that. Exhausts have always been too stubborn for me.
That’s in part 2

Can you do an engine removal for A4 B7? This platform is much loved and needs more info on DYI

Do you know if I can swap a s4 b8 into a a4 b8 Quattro ?
Extremely appreciated!! ❤️❤️❤️
Dude, thank you. You're a legend!!!!!
I Have the A5 with 6 speed manual gearbox. Can I still get the motor out without the bumper removal?
Yes but the snout on the flex plate extends a little further, need the load leveler for sure and a pry bar when installing
@naptowntuner When you remove an engine using this method, on an average day, how long would you estimate that it takes you to get it out?
Found my answer: under 1hr!!! Wow. th-cam.com/video/fTUraB21HEQ/w-d-xo.html
Haven't followed you since your fasting episodes. How are you?Do you mostly do 2.0T Audis or have you done any 3.2 V6 videos?Hope you are well!!
Wow you are the Audi A4 B8 expert! Amazing! What was the reason to pull the engine in this one?
I’ll refresh the engine and reinstall as the channel gains momentum I’ll do a lot more
