This exact model has been my go to for spontaneous photography - it was a gift brand new when they first came out when I was a kid and it’s still going strong (other than the rubber component at the bottom which disintegrated). Took it on a long NYC trip a few years ago and used it more than my DSLR and Mirrorless cameras. It has that special character and the form is actually super elegant.
I first picked up this camera for $7 with charger, sd card, bag, and extra battery at my local thrift store. I used it to record my hs graduation, after the first one breaking I've picked up 2 more since then. Now currently have given my last working one to my father as I lost one of his point and shoot. For what it is, this camera will always have a place in my heart! It has been interesting seeing the resurgence and increased price of them. I used to be able to pick them up with box for $35 a pop.
Hi! As someone with digicam, people don’t usually use “AUTO” mode. I use cloudy/flash wb, -0.3 exp, iso 100. You don’t need to edit it after. Also, I use a sony digicam so the settings may vary.
Thanks for a great video! I dug out my old Sony DSC-p150, got some new batteries and have been having fun! Actually looked up the manual and learned more about its features than I did when I bought it new 20 years ago! It's so cool, I loan it out to my teenager now!
I am using my canon ixus 200 is that I got in my high school. I completely can relate that I rarely post or even process my iPhone 13 Pro photos, but canon camera is just so fun to play around with! I don’t think that it’s worth to buy an old digicam for 70$+, but if you are able to find one for cheap, it can be a cool toy to play around with. Creates very cozy photos.
I remember saving up for this as a teen and spending probably the most money i ever had on something. Hoping to be able to dig it up in my old storage.
great video man! i’ve had this cam for like 2-3 years and picked it up for 30 bucks with the original packaging! i had no clue about the film type filter, will definitely be utilizing that!
I used to sell cameras and lenses on eBay I probably had well over a hundred Canon point and shoots. I used or tested every single one of them with an indoor test and an outdoor test before putting it up for sale. You name the model I've probably had it, almost every SD model and S model. The Canon sd1000 is a really good one but there are others that cost a forth as much that take just as good of pictures. Also there are numerous Canon S models like the s50 s60 x s70 s80s s90 etcetera. That all shoot raw and have a larger sensor size and usually cost a lot less than the sd1000. I think the secret to these cameras is knowing what settings to use and never go over 200 ISO and you can still get good shots you just have to be more careful. Almost all of these Canon cameras take great photos the ones that are between 4 and 10 megapixels especially. Paying $125 or more for a Canon sd1000 I think it's a little nuts. Yes if you can get one at a thrift store for 25 or 30 bucks go for it but a lot of these Canon S cameras you can buy a for 30 to 50 bucks or so they are a far superior camera in several ways.
Awesome photos! This camera blew up, mostly for its cool looks and ergonomics , but there is a treasure trove in the powershot series. The SD790is I have has a bigger screen, same or better features, and a metal frame. Good light, lowest ISO, -1/3 to -1 exp comp, positive film profile - that’s when these give amazing results for me.
Pro tip! If you want the same looks and ergonomics, check out the ELPH 520 HS. It's a better camera all around. They are nearly identical dimensions but the 520 is 20g lighter. The 520 has a much better quality and slightly larger BSI CMOS sensor, Digic 5 processor, much more useful 12x (28mm-336mm) focal range, shoots 1080 24p video, 3200 max ISO, 1/4000s shutter and a way nicer screen. You can usually find them less than the SD1000 too. I have the red one, it's awesome IMO.
I bought this camera brand new when it came out and it came everywhere with me. Once cameras on cell phones took over, this one got packed away. My 15 year old daughter is now talking about an "old" point and shoot she can carry around, and i dug around and found this guy. I've been adapting old M42 lenses to my Canon 5D Mk II, and I think thats sparked something for her too, so this video is perfect. Like, this is almost exactly like us. Thanks for sharing!
I still have my personal Canon PowerShot A2200 (Red) from my hs days. then days later when i posted a video using my old digicam on my instagram and tiktok, my neighbors and friends went nuts and they gave me their old digicams for free. now i have 4 digicams and here's the list... -Canon PowerShot A2200 (Red) ''my original baby'' -Olympus FE-4010 (White) ''Very Good Condition'' -Canon IXUS 400 (aka Powershot S400) Silver color and same design as yours. ''My new Favorite 🥰'' and Canon PowerShot A495 (Red) double A batteries but still love it. So i love it owning 4 digicams in 2024 feels like heaven. 🤗✨
My friend gave me his "bridge" camera but I got tired of carrying it since my phone often got nicer results. I've since gotten better at recognizing its strengths but that's for another time. My phone kept running out of batteries when I wanted to use it for pictures, so I got a Canon SD750, your SD1000's no viewfinder cousin. I've learned how to make its colors saturate nicely so as long as there is ample light, I get better results than the phone
I believe that you should be able to shoot raw with the sd1000 if you sideload the CHDK firmware onto the memory card. It opens up a plethora of options compared to the standard settings. Was able to do so with my sd1400is and it works like a charm !
I remember shopping for a bridge camera way back in 2015 and I swear I've seen these old digital cameras just being thrown away at one point since the advancement of camera phones. That same model is now being sold in our local version of ebay for 70 to 100 USD if you don't mind a broken screen. 😵💫
Another underrated contender is the SD800 IS. Its very similar in specs to the SD1000 with the addition of a wider 28mm view (SD1000 has 35mm) and Image Stabilization. The IS definitely helps.
I've been going apes**t with my Powershot for the past couple of weeks, and the combo of color noise reduction (set between 20-30 in Lightroom) and subtle sharpening makes ISO 400 look great, and some cases ISO 800 comes out OK.
Canon and Fujifilm P&S cameras have gone way up in price in the past year. Great for those who want deals with other brands, sucks for everyone else who wants a Canon SD series or Fujifilm Super CCD cameras.
I had one of these as a gift from my grandfather when I was 16 years old. It sparked my camera interest and I still love photography to this day. Annoying the 'set / enter' button stopped working. It's so annoying that I think if I did a factory reset, it would fix it - ironically, I can't do that.
Hello, I have a 3 pixel Sony camera. The camara take very nice photos during the day. At night it doesn't take good photos anyway. The memory card is rectangular, it is not the one we all use now. And it had very little capacity. And you could only record very short videos because the memory card was limited. But I remember that it was one of my first digital cameras and it took excellent photos during the day. Also the battery was double AA. The ones now use batteries exclusive to each model. I can use that camera with two double AA batteries even now in 2024. That's wonderful.
I have my Sony t1 I got in 2005. Still use it. I just bought a Sony T7 off eBay. Demand is getting heavy for these obsolete cameras again because they are awesome
i foud a Canon Ixus 80 IS at my dads.... and a analog Minox 35 GT 35mm point to shoot.... so excited to use them 🙂 i think i gonna leave my Sony A7C home for a while 🙂
My SD1000 is my Aunt’s who forgot it at my house 8 years ago. It has only 42 pictures on it total, half are from a single party in 2010 and then she didn’t take another picture until 2016.
I enjoyed your video. I think the issue with this particular model and other old digi-cams is every time there is a TH-cam video on any particular model the E-Bay prices rise to a level that a person shouldn't purchase it. Luckily I have the Canons SD1100, SD1200, Power Shot Elph 180 and the Power Shot A85 (like new). Except for the 1100 and 1200 which I bought new. The other models I purchased for about $5 but I buy all my older digi-cams at thrift stores, garage sales, or getting some through family or friends. I have quite a collection of old digi-cams. My oldest is the Kodak Easy Share CR6200 that is a 2 megapixel. Best of luck in your photography journey. Best Duane
Great input! I never made this video because this camera was popular, I made it cause that’s what I was given and wanted to share it. You can get very similar or even better photos with a camera that is way cheaper. Honestly the best thing to do is ask family if they have any old cameras or go to thrift stores and just grab whatever you can find
This us an awesome camera I picked one up a year ago and am impressed with the 7 mp it has. One thing I recomend is to chek out CHDK for Canon digicams. It alows you to shoot in raw and the files have so much more information and detail for editing in post.
It's one of those Canon Ixus cameras that's built like a piece of jewellery. Looks and feel are very important...like slightly earlier cameras like the Contax TVS Digital, with it's sapphire shutter release button. If you start snapping at a wedding or event, it won't be long until some one is asking about that 'pretty little camera'.
I love this camera so much, i bought 3 of them before Jvapes made them blow up. Its my daily carry and take crisp pics or can get that grainy nostalgic vibes as well. Just a fun pocketable P&S
I recently saw a video on TH-cam debunking the whole high megapixel need for digital camera where someone worked out that if you just like to view your photos on a highend apple laptop you only need a camera with around a 5 megapixel sensor and for a four k screen around 8 megapixel recently I decided to take up my old hobbie of photography after a break of 19 years back in my time 35 mm ruled and digital cameras were first starting to appear and now it's all digital apart from Polaroids and disposable cameras being on a budget I got a very basic agfa for about £50.00 some people call it a kids toy in the reviews for the camera but yet the camera has a 5 megapixel sensor which is good enough to view photos on a highend laptop and that tech was on high end compact cameras 15 years ago
Hello friends, how are you? I am a photography enthusiast, but I am not obsessed with cameras, lenses or technicalities. I love photography and to portray images that resemble the reality we see, I have my main camera, however, I am fascinated by the possibility that photography offers us to explore "other realities", thanks to its characteristics, weaknesses, etc.,. To explore those "other dimensions", I love to use cameras from the early 2000's and take advantage of their weaknesses, thanks to noise, focus errors, etc and see how they interpret what they see. I'm following several options and this SD1000 is one of the ones I might be interested in...and also the IXUS 400 which apparently has the same sensor and processor as the PowerShot G2 and G3, and its behavior in terms of color science and ISO treatment is very similar. Maybe the IXUS 400 is more suited to what I need, which is a "rougher" image, less refined...and maybe being older and closer to the analog era, the color reference makes the IXUS 400 closer to the point-and-shoot disposable film cameras. I don't know what you think about it. Greetings from the Mediterranean coast 😊
Hello Yes I use digicams in 2024 and have a tiny collection. I agree with you that ISO over 100 is not a good choice :-). We can get realy nice images out of those cameras and if you know the camera very well, sometime you can get amazing pictures :-). Greetings from lower Bavaria.
As a 32y old person this video made me feel so old...😢😂 digicams for my generation were not our parents cameras... they were our "modern" cameras while our parents were still shooting film. P.S. also I remember hating the resolution and quality of the photos and videos that came from that cameras compared to the results our parents had with their film cameras. But we were just kids or teens and didn't want to spend the money on film so digicams were always on our pokets ready to shoot a free photo. P.S.S. I'm also pregnant so maybe it is time for me to accept that I am old now 😂
I been using canon sd1100is it’s pretty much the same camera I had it for a few years and the price gone up when it was new I paid 25 dollars for it at goodwill now it’s 300 dollars
hi there! this video was so helpful and I’m super new to any cameras but I was wondering if the photos shown in this video were taken raw from the camera or edited at all on a computer? sorry if this question is dumb i’m new to this stuff
@@RazzieVR all of the photos in this video were either raw or with very minor tweaks like white balance adjustments cause I couldn’t get it exactly where I wanted it in camera for some shots
Ow... This camera replaces my old Canon A90, which I particularly loved because it had the Manual option, but it still had the ability to control the shutter time. But the big advantage over mine was the size and the exclusive battery, which gave much more autonomy. The photo quality is great, for that time, I took a lot of impressive photos, and it's perfect for traveling, small and simple.... Today they no longer manufacture cameras with this construction quality, which was made of aluminum.
now digital cameras got more expensive, around $60USD I just bought a Power shot A510 back from 2005 (Was my first camera) in $58USD , box and manuals are incluided
1:33 what do you mean? isn't that how all OVFs work? it shows you what lens sees. if you optically zoom, it shows on OVF. it makes the same thing in a DSLR. but if you digitally zoomed, the OVF woudn't show it, of course.
I asked my dad and he passed me his old Canon S95 so I went to buy the battery and cable for it, waiting for them to arrive, any setting u recommend for that nostalgic look?
I don’t know anything about that camera specifically but I just messaged around and tested different settings on mine until I found something that worked. I do recommend using the exposure compensation if the camera has it and set it to between -.7 and -1.5 EV
I bought one for £5 in a charity shop. I didn't want the camera, just the case which fitted my 500HS. I decided to turn it into a IR camera, which I did. Then, I saw how much they're going for so have converted it back, this morning.
HI I just got my ixus 70 some days ago but im still learning how to focus properly, some photos get out of focus, and still finding the best settings to get more focused pics, but I love it anyways, hopefuly I´ll do a video about it too :D
Some of the pictures are straight out of camera and some have slight Lightroom tweaks. Mostly messing with white balance since they all came out a little too cool for my liking
I bought a canon SD1000 in 2015 for $20, another in 2019 for $40, and now they're going for $100-200. So get them now before they start costing more than mirrorless cameras!
There are better Powershot SD models for less money. The SD750 is half the price of the 1000 and its the same camera with a larger screen, minus the VF.
Hi I am having trouble trying to upload the photos to my phone!! Is there any other way than the SD card? If not please tell me how with the sd card because I have such cool photos on this camera and I don’t know how to upload them!
If you have Apple products you can just airdrop them from your computer to your phone which is what I do but you should also be able to get an sd card reader to whatever your phone port is and do it that way
The film style one I talked about in this video is my most used. It seems to soften the shadows and highlights a little and then usually have to do some slight white balance adjustments in post as you can’t really dial it in when shooting
Dont overpay for this camera just because a TH-camr says it's cool lol. It's got a terrible lens and a tiny sensor. If you want an SD series camera, you are much better off with the SD500 with a better lens and a larger 1/1.8" sensor. Better yet, look for an SD900, which is the Canon Powershot G7 in an SD body. The 950IS, which is the G9, or the 990IS, which is the G10. All much better cameras than the SD1000.
I agree if you were buying for specs, but people are buying this camera for how it makes them feel and the very square body is unique when everything else is rounded. I think most people are not buying it for its output. They're buying it for its physical aesthetic. I actually had about four of these and resold them on eBay because of the price. But aside from the price, it's pretty fun to use when you want something enough price doesn't matter. So paying $100, give or take for this isn't so bad if you really want it. It's like buying a Leica.
@@ThePhotographersStone spending 2-3 times the price for a camera with an inferior lens and sensor just because of how it looks is just silly. But it’s your money….
Economics play a huge deal when buying stuff. This thing isn't as available as a bag of potato chips. I had to wait months before someone from fb market or kijiji sell this thing. But then again I bought an LX5 lumix for 100 CAD and olympus em10 with kit lens for 350CAD both in mint condition, with the box/bag, with memory cards, all accessories included( except for viewfinder for lx5). I'm willing to spend up to 200CAD for this depening on its condition
The term "digicam" generally refers to point and shoot digital cameras with 4-10 megapixels made between 2004-2012. So while the examples you listed are digital cameras, they are not what people refer to when they use the term digicam.
Look, if you want to mess around with some crappy 2007 compact camera, it is your business. But don't dare try to convince me that there is any merit to it. If you knew how to edit photos you'd know you can easily edit a modern camera photo to look retro and it's a much better result.
This model is the same size of a credit card. Aside from that, it's junk. The sd1000 has a 1/2.5" sensor which is 50% smaller than alot of other similar size cameras like the canon s95 which is probably the best and last ccd camera with an f2 lens and 10mp. Stay away from the sd1000. It is pretty, but that is it. You can buy a Fujifilm f20 for $50 with the larger 1/1.7" sensor and 6 mp super clean iso 400 images with perfect exposure flash shots and great color.
Appreciate the insight to other alternatives. I see where you’re coming from but personally I think this camera produces great images in good lighting. That 10mp one with an f2 lens sounds super interesting though
@@calebbrunkow im glad i did not offend u. I have owned around 50 different digicams from 2002 to now. I owned the sd1000, sd500,sd550, among others. @@calebbrunkow thank u. I always was searching for the best digital pocket cameras. The best ones always had the larger sensors. The canon S95 and the fujifilm XF1 and XQ1 nikon P330 & P340 are just about the best small compacts with 1/1.7 to 2/3" all came out before 2012. The only issue is the prices tripled in the last year.

My SD1000 is my Aunt’s who forgot it at my house 8 years ago. It has only 42 pictures on it total, half are from a single party in 2010 and then she didn’t take another picture until 2016.
That’s wild!
Best
Duane
Great input! I never made this video because this camera was popular, I made it cause that’s what I was given and wanted to share it. You can get very similar or even better photos with a camera that is way cheaper. Honestly the best thing to do is ask family if they have any old cameras or go to thrift stores and just grab whatever you can find
This us an awesome camera I picked one up a year ago and am impressed with the 7 mp it has. One thing I recomend is to chek out CHDK for Canon digicams. It alows you to shoot in raw and the files have so much more information and detail for editing in post.
That’s awesome I’ll have to check that out
@@calebbrunkow There is also a lot of info on TH-cam about it.
True!
I love this camera so much, i bought 3 of them before Jvapes made them blow up. Its my daily carry and take crisp pics or can get that grainy nostalgic vibes as well. Just a fun pocketable P&S
So true! Such a fun camera to have in your pocket
That is really cool! Glad you’re getting back into photography!
All of those seem like great options. I haven’t used any of those other ones you mentioned but I’m sure they create similar images
Checkout the Sony P series or Olympus Camedia series. Great digicams
I’ll keep those in mind!
Hello
Yes I use digicams in 2024 and have a tiny collection. I agree with you that ISO over 100 is not a good choice :-). We can get realy nice images out of those cameras and if you know the camera very well, sometime you can get amazing pictures :-).
Greetings from lower Bavaria.
So true!
I have a canon IXUS 185 as my main point and shoot, and although being fairly new, it still has the old look
That’s awesome
As a 32y old person this video made me feel so old...😢😂 digicams for my generation were not our parents cameras... they were our "modern" cameras while our parents were still shooting film.
P.S. also I remember hating the resolution and quality of the photos and videos that came from that cameras compared to the results our parents had with their film cameras. But we were just kids or teens and didn't want to spend the money on film so digicams were always on our pokets ready to shoot a free photo.
P.S.S. I'm also pregnant so maybe it is time for me to accept that I am old now 😂
I’m 27 so not that far behind. The resolution definitely doesn’t hold a candle to film
(2) 😂😂😂
i use a 2013 panasonic lumix dmc sz3. and a 2009 ricoh grd3. love them both. want an sd1000 though.
Haven’t used those ones but they seem cool!
Great video🤩 I think digital cameras are back. What filter you use in this camera like in the options : vivid, sepia or other?
For all the photos I used the film preset with minor tweaks in Lightroom for some shots
I been using canon sd1100is it’s pretty much the same camera I had it for a few years and the price gone up when it was new I paid 25 dollars for it at goodwill now it’s 300 dollars
Geeze! The prices have gone nuts for these old things
These photos look great, are they straight out of the camera?
Some are and some aren’t, the ones that aren’t just very slight white balance tweaks since the white balance misses sometimes in camera
hi there! this video was so helpful and I’m super new to any cameras but I was wondering if the photos shown in this video were taken raw from the camera or edited at all on a computer? sorry if this question is dumb i’m new to this stuff
Sounds like a cool camera, I’ll have to check it out
now digital cameras got more expensive, around $60USD I just bought a Power shot A510 back from 2005 (Was my first camera) in $58USD , box and manuals are incluided
Pretty good find
You make really beautiful thumbnails!
Thank you! I really enjoy making them
These photos look better then my parents Olympus fe-20 that has 8.0 MP
I’m sure that can take great photos as well!
@@calebbrunkow it does!
1:33 what do you mean? isn't that how all OVFs work?
it shows you what lens sees. if you optically zoom, it shows on OVF. it makes the same thing in a DSLR.
but if you digitally zoomed, the OVF woudn't show it, of course.
This is true for through the lens OVF’s but not most rangefinder style ones like this one has.
Good Camera Bro! 👍🏻☺️
Very fun camera
I asked my dad and he passed me his old Canon S95 so I went to buy the battery and cable for it, waiting for them to arrive, any setting u recommend for that nostalgic look?
I don’t know anything about that camera specifically but I just messaged around and tested different settings on mine until I found something that worked. I do recommend using the exposure compensation if the camera has it and set it to between -.7 and -1.5 EV
You can shoot RAW with this camera, install CHDK.
Great to know!
Great video! Do you have any suggestions for digicam's which will produce that retro look?
Pretty much anything from this era will produce a similar look, especially if it’s a lower megapixel like this with a CCD sensor
Dope video dude!! Also we need to throw this thing on a drone and two some video out with that haha
Thanks dude and that would be killer!
I bought one for £5 in a charity shop. I didn't want the camera, just the case which fitted my 500HS. I decided to turn it into a IR camera, which I did. Then, I saw how much they're going for so have converted it back, this morning.
Novice here. I'm looking at an SD1000 or an Elph 360 for pretty much the same price and good condition. Which should I get?
I only have experience with the SD1000 so can’t speak to the other one but I really enjoy the SD1000
@@calebbrunkow thanks! I ended up going for the SD1000. The camera itself is a piece of art for me.
To answer your math question, 32gb is not a thousand times bigger than 32mb. 1 GB equals to 1024 MB, therefore 32 GB is equal to 32,768 MB.
Gotcha! Close I guess
HI I just got my ixus 70 some days ago but im still learning how to focus properly, some photos get out of focus, and still finding the best settings to get more focused pics, but I love it anyways, hopefuly I´ll do a video about it too :D
That’s awesome! Would love to see the video when you’re done
I really enjoyed the video. I have a small question though. Are the pictures edited? Or are they directly from the camera with the film preset?
Some of the pictures are straight out of camera and some have slight Lightroom tweaks. Mostly messing with white balance since they all came out a little too cool for my liking
Hi, great video :) The samples photos are straight out of camera or are edited with lightroom?
Glad you enjoyed it, most of them have a little bit of Lightroom edits but mostly white balance adjustments as I couldn’t dial it in in camera
@@calebbrunkowthanks Caleb
I bought a canon SD1000 in 2015 for $20, another in 2019 for $40, and now they're going for $100-200. So get them now before they start costing more than mirrorless cameras!
So cool to get them for that cheap but yeah they’re getting pricey
There are better Powershot SD models for less money. The SD750 is half the price of the 1000 and its the same camera with a larger screen, minus the VF.
@@michaelbell75thanks for the tip!!! Gonna go buy five
One of the best cameras I have ever shot. I miss that little guy
It’s a fun little camera for sure
Whats the Film Style preset called that you're using on the camera. Bought my camera online and pumped to use it next week 🤙🏽
So stoked for you! The film style is called “positive film” in the camera
@@calebbrunkow thanks heaps. Appreciate it. Count down begins till i get some awesome retro shots 🤙🏽
@jasonbedford467 you’re welcome!
love the vid i use a sony dsc wx50
Thank you!
lumix lx5 is where its at as far as digicam goes
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to check it out
Hi I am having trouble trying to upload the photos to my phone!! Is there any other way than the SD card? If not please tell me how with the sd card because I have such cool photos on this camera and I don’t know how to upload them!
If you have Apple products you can just airdrop them from your computer to your phone which is what I do but you should also be able to get an sd card reader to whatever your phone port is and do it that way
You can load custom firmware and shoot in raw
No way! That’s awesome
You got a 32GB card to work? Max I could get was 4GB
Oh really?!? That’s wild yeah my card worked fine, just a basic Sandisk card
@@calebbrunkow I’ll try formatting on the camera itself. Also I read that fast write SD cards make old tech cranky. I may have used one of those!
@blainerohlfs it seems like the cheaper the better for sd cards with these old cameras lol
I use the canon powershot a430
Nice!
would u recommend this camera or the nikon coolpix S210?
I haven’t used the cool pix but I’m sure you can get great photos with it
Was wondering how u can access the picture profiles? 3 3:25
If you hit the function button it’s two or 3 sections down
What was the film style preset that u mentioned was it the positive film
I believe so, I show it in the video
@@calebbrunkow can you please give the settings of the camera in the manual mode, thank you!
@Asher-q2i i shot all of these in auto and mostly used daylight white balance and used the exposure compensation to dial in exposure
What is the picture profile you use the most- the one you think looks like film? Thanks!
The film style one I talked about in this video is my most used. It seems to soften the shadows and highlights a little and then usually have to do some slight white balance adjustments in post as you can’t really dial it in when shooting
@@calebbrunkow dia?
Just found one in our stuff.
That’s so cool!
Your math was correct
Dont overpay for this camera just because a TH-camr says it's cool lol. It's got a terrible lens and a tiny sensor. If you want an SD series camera, you are much better off with the SD500 with a better lens and a larger 1/1.8" sensor. Better yet, look for an SD900, which is the Canon Powershot G7 in an SD body. The 950IS, which is the G9, or the 990IS, which is the G10. All much better cameras than the SD1000.
Great insight!
@@michaelbell75yes it might be but isn’t that how most of us buy cars?
Economics play a huge deal when buying stuff. This thing isn't as available as a bag of potato chips. I had to wait months before someone from fb market or kijiji sell this thing. But then again I bought an LX5 lumix for 100 CAD and olympus em10 with kit lens for 350CAD both in mint condition, with the box/bag, with memory cards, all accessories included( except for viewfinder for lx5). I'm willing to spend up to 200CAD for this depening on its condition
are these pics SOOC?
Some are some aren’t. They’re not heavily edited though, just simple white balance tweaks mostly since you can’t pick a kelvin.
My photos look grey is there any way to adjust that ?
Hmm i haven’t had that issue but you may be on the black and white and some other color profile setting that is muting the colors
sx260 hs or this camera?
I haven’t used the SX260 so wouldn’t be able to help ya on that one

I bought my SD450 new in 2006 and have NEVER used the viewfinder. Cute, but utterly useless.
Cool to have owned it from new!
"Digicam"..isn't that just a digital camera??? So my 5D, 6D, 70D, EOS-M, and my Lumix is all "Digicams"?? And yes, they are.
True but mostly referring to these style of cameras that were typically branded as such
The term "digicam" generally refers to point and shoot digital cameras with 4-10 megapixels made between 2004-2012.
I still have 2 old S45 4mp cameras that still amaze me and they shoot raw and so does the S95. I also still have a fuji F10 and an F50fd. But i have had nikons, olympus and sony wx80 which is smaller than the sd1000. I could go on. My real cameras are my griiix and my XE1😁
@frankartale1026 wow you really know your stuff, appreciate your insight
@@calebbrunkow thank u. I always was searching for the best digital pocket cameras. The best ones always had the larger sensors. The canon S95 and the fujifilm XF1 and XQ1 nikon P330 & P340 are just about the best small compacts with 1/1.7 to 2/3" all came out before 2012. The only issue is the prices tripled in the last year.
@frankartale1026 prices have gotten crazy for most digicams
Kind of wish you didn’t blow it up :/
This camera was blowing up long before I made a video
Thanks to videos like this, I sold one of these for $200. At auction. From a starting price of $5.
