I’d love to film and shoot my summer activities. I’m planning on going on a vacation to the BVIs and attending a few summer camps. Having one of these would really help me capture the moment (without it being $30 to even look at the photos)

Would love to get my hands on one now as I’m at uni and going out with friends every weekend, just to capture the moment and add a sense of nostalgia to these memories.

The lil' Canon Powershot was so fun to use! I brought it to photograph my daughter modeling at New York Fashion Week 2006 and behind the scenes of her going to the castings for the shows. She was a teenager and she was annoyed that I was always getting snapshots of her at that time NOW she tells me she's so glad that I documented that experience. I have photos of her changing into heels before she went into the audition, her makeup and hair after a show for Cynthia Rowley, a shot of her walking carrying her Ford Models portfolio on 7th ave. We also took the Canon Powershot to Tokyo when she modeled there. Great camera! I use a DSLR now because I make a living at photography, when I used the Powershot I hadn't gone pro yet. But I get it, the lower rez aesthetic.
After loosing a year’s worth of material on my phone I’ve been looking at getting a digicam even more than before. It seems very easy to just go and take out the sd card and plug it into your phone or computer. That makes it very easy to make backups
Great video on digicams! I've been using them for many years. I need to disagree with you on one point: image quality. My experience has been that the still images produces by these cameras are fabulous! Even a 6 megapixel camera will produce a detailed 2K image. The video quality definitely looks a bit more retro, but it does have it's own charm. Many of these older cameras had CCD image sensors, which are known for producing beautiful highlights. Even when you push them into oversaturation, you get these neat starburst and blooming artifacts. If you're considering getting an older digicam, here's some technical considerations to keep in mind. Many of the older cameras do not support high capacity SD-HC cards. You'll have to use an older spec SD card no larger than 2 GB. These can be hard to find. I'm currently using a 1 GB microSD, with an SD card adapter. The Canon PowerShots with the telescopic lens assembly are notorious for generating lens errors if any dirt gets into the gear train that controls the lens. I've serviced a few of these, and the problem can be minimized by always keeping it in a case when you're not using it. If the camera is really old the battery may not hold a charge any more. While you can purchase a replacement, it might worth considering something like an A-Series Canon that runs on AA batteries. The LADDA rechargeable batteries sold at IKEA are actually rebranded Eneloops that sell for half the cost, compared to getting name brand batteries from a camera shop.
Great info - My tips for digicam buyers, look for ones that take AA batteries and regular SD memory cards! Sony cybershot digicams tend to use specific sony memory stick pro duo cards, expensive and not as readily available. Also note some digicams come with a model specific battery pack! If it's been sat in a draw for a long time the battery will almost certainly need replacing, some charge by a cable, some charge with a seperate unit you put the battery in. Make sure the camera comes with either the charge cable or charging unit, otherwise you'll have to order one. Also don't be surprised if your digicam doesn't support your 64gb memory card, most cards back then were 8gb or 16gb at most.
@xaym3n Yes you can get memory stick adapters that take a micro sd card, it's just an extra faff ordering the adapter, then transferring from a micro sd card into another sd card adapter to transfer to a PC or laptop. SD cards are just generally easier to deal with when transferring files.

@@spyratekodaks7494 just depends. I have about 25 cameras including quite a few digicams. I just prefer to use my phone most the time. I can make it look like about 50 different cameras, including instant, disposable and film cameras, it fits in my pocket and it’s already with me every day.
I still have my Canon PowerShot G12 laying around, bought back in 2012. It's not the smallest nor cutest camera around (it has tons of manual controls for a point-and-shoot), but it does at least have a CCD sensor. I had wondered what gave it that 2000s/early-2010s "aesthetic" in the photos it took (the G12 did originally come out in 2010), and it turns out it's because of the CCD sensor used by "digicams" of that area. I used that G12 up until the end of last year, then I bought a Canon EOS R8 in January. Obviously this is a far more serious setup, but sometimes I long for the fun of a small camera. I do have an old point-and-shoot Panasonic camera from the late-2000s, but I'll have to dig through my old stuff to find it.

You can get pretty good photos with these. But I will say, do not use auto or easy modes with a powershot. Also the flash actually makes most photos a lot worse unless you use slow synchro. So turn off flash or use slow synchro, and find good settings in Program mode. There's not too many settings so it's easy to adjust and totally worth it.

there are sd cards (like eye fi or toshiba air) that share the content of the sdcard via wifi. you can configure your own access point name and password. and then access the sdcard content via browser. not even an app required if you get a good wifi sdcard.
Very cool! I shoot mainly music photography with an a7iii for press kits / concerts and would love a low stress toy like this. Thinking I'd use it for BTS content with the bands I work with / hang around. Hoping that giveaway hasn't finished ^_^
I have a Nikon Coolpix A100 digicam. I bought it when it came out so it's with me for many years now 😃 I love it, but I would like to try other digicams, too 😄 Anyway, do you think are there any rules how to use a digicam for taking photos? I mean because these are limited gadgets do you take photos in other way than with a "normál" camera? Just being curious how you do things 😁 I like to use it's abilities to the fullest and I concentrate on the composition and lighting.
These are some good tips. Thanks for sharing them. Me and my wife have been interested in doing film photography, but like you said in the video, it's very expensive. So instead, we are leaning to get a vintage digi cam like this one because they are versatile, fun and powerful tools for storytelling, which we are contemplating doing for future videos. These digi cams seem like a good option. I love the grainy look of them, and there is no new camera in the market that can replace that. We need one. How can we enter your giveaway? Thank you for the opportunity! -Wilfredo
YES! Absolutely. Totally agree! Having something small and versatile while still giving that vintage/ grainy feel is something my phone and newer cameras just can't do. Plus - they are tons and tons of fun! Letting us know what you would shoot with the camera enters you into the giveaway!
@@nickthaskater No doubt. I definitely agree with you. However, I don't recall comparing one to the other. I only said that instead of getting an expensive film cam, we are leaning toward a digicam because of their versatility. 😊
@@wilfredoyvanessa fair enough. I wasn't sure if you were thinking that they were analogous. There's sometimes the perception that film is inherently shitty and that these cheap digicams are comparable to film.
Why I will NEVER do business with Moment again. I ordered the newest T-Series case, drop in mount and anamorphic lens for my iPhone 15 pro max only to pay and find out that Moment couldn’t fulfill the order. The lens was now on back order for like 2 weeks. So they shipped the case and mount. The case is extremely cheap! Well not in price as they charge $40 for the POs case and $5 more for the cheap ass plastic drop in mount! When it came time for them to ship the lens as the order stated they said they didn’t have any lens yet and hoped it would ship the following month. That didn’t work for me and I asked for a full refund. They refunded the lens and then sent me the return email for the case and mount. Now it says they are charging me $10 to return something I never opened or used! On top of that you have to print their return label and packing slip! $10 to return something I never used and on top of that I have to pay to print out a return label. Not because I didn’t want it but because Moment couldn’t fulfill the order I paid for. Welp, that will definitely make me never purchase anything from Moment again.
would you mind telling me what the name of the camera is that you took those videos you showed in the start? :) I really want to buy one, but im afraid that the videos doesn't turn out good.
They would be losing tons of money. Smartphones put digicams out of business and honestly, there are a handful of great apps if you want that digicam, film or disposable look.
Had TONS of fun making this one! 📹 What kind of stuff would you shoot with a digicam?! Let us know! 🤩

This video was great, just bumped into a friend with one of these style cameras… looks like a lot of fun. I shoot film a lot, so maybe this could be another alternative (this is my contest entry lol).
Trying to be a USB-C hero on trips and get togethers for sure 😎
Those photos look so cool 🤩
Can you do a whole short film with these old cams? I've always been interested to see these creators do so.
Absolutelyyy! I posted a couple fun old travel videos with them on my personal channel a while ago. Feel free to check them out!
A dedicated short film sounds like a brilliant idea :)

The Powersot cameras are awesome.
I love the video and it makes me want to use digicams a lot more so Good Job
Woohoo thanks so much!
SERE EL PRIMER COMENTARIO EN ESPAÑOL? JUSTAMENTE LO PORTABLE Y LIGERO ES LO QUE HACE ESE TIPO DE CAMARAS TAN ESPECIAL, Y CREO HABER VISTO UNA QUE OTRA ESCENA DE GUATEMALA DE MI CORAZÓN
I’m so mad that the one we had when I was younger broke from using too much when I was practicing photography

THANK YOU 😁
sweet video! i would love to shoot some Casey Neistat vlog style stuff on it. i love shooting stuff on my iPhone, but one of these would definitely be a nice change of pace and a welcome vibe change!
this is such a great idea! Absolutely love it 💥🤩
there are sd cards (like eye fi or toshiba air) that share the content of the sdcard via wifi. you can configure your own access point name and password. and then access the sdcard content via browser. not even an app required if you get a good wifi sdcard.
It is funny how all the influencers praise these cameras, but they never use them for their own channel..
For that they use modern cameras..
Good thing I didn’t sell my digital cam I know it will come back to life trend 😊
The video was great. Helped me clearing if I should get one or not. I saw the giveaway part . Im hoping i can get it from you. Thanks
Great video; that being said, it's not how you use "that being said"!
Wait, I'm running to my local thrift store real quick.
Very cool! I shoot mainly music photography with an a7iii for press kits / concerts and would love a low stress toy like this. Thinking I'd use it for BTS content with the bands I work with / hang around. Hoping that giveaway hasn't finished ^_^
Wow, digicam back !!!!!
You already knowww 🔥
okayyy go crazzyyy mia!!
Ricoh griiihdf lets gooo
Are these photos post-processed or SOOC just curious? They look really good if SOOC, love the colors!
I have a Nikon Coolpix A100 digicam. I bought it when it came out so it's with me for many years now 😃 I love it, but I would like to try other digicams, too 😄
Anyway, do you think are there any rules how to use a digicam for taking photos?
-Wilfredo
Low-res grainy digicam photos are not comparable to the resolution/fidelity of film.
YES!
@@moment Thanks for agreeing and for explaining me how to enter the giveaway. 😃
@@wilfredoyvanessa fair enough. I wasn't sure if you were thinking that they were analogous. There's sometimes the perception that film is inherently shitty and that these cheap digicams are comparable to film.
Moment should make lenses for digi cams like they have for, example, iphone.
This would be awesome 😳 or even some fun little filters
You are such a boss!! La mera mera!!
ayyy gracias i appreciate it so much 😁
Thanks!

Can't find one in my country
They’re so much fun! Where are you from?

What kind of camera do u have??
Got mine at a flea market for the low👍🏾
Let’s gooo 👏🏽
my sign like i did not search for a camera from a year and a half and in my country there s absolutely none
Imagine if camera makers still making digicams (like Canon IXUS 285 HS)
They would be losing tons of money. Smartphones put digicams out of business and honestly, there are a handful of great apps if you want that digicam, film or disposable look.
digicam vibes are in
heck yeah 😎
Love it ⏱📽🤍
hey ! which one are you using on this vid please ?
She is using the canon powershot SD850 IS
She says it in the video 3:27
