Does the Canon R6 have DUAL NATIVE ISO?!?!?
Canon FL lenses wer made to be like Leitz lenses. Less contrasty, softer! They were actually better! Why mustyou/others chat about use in modern gigs! BS buddy. My M3 has a 50mm Summicron that's like 60 years old! It's damn sharp and lovely.. I have quite a few Canon FL and FD lenses. They are ALL less contrasty!
Do not throw out the E series lenes, they are actually quite good even though they are plastic. The Nikon way is actually the right way 😊
Great video. Hit me up if you’re selling the NFD 14mm 😊
cannon fd gang
Canon still uses OUTDATED decades old front-lit CMOS sensors. A7sIII is superior but still has problems. By now industry should have been moving to new sensor technology such as SPAD or x1000 more sensitive graphene sensors.
Look, if you want to mess around with some crappy 2007 compact camera, it is your business. But don't dare try to convince me that there is any merit to it. If you knew how to edit photos you'd know you can easily edit a modern camera photo to look retro and it's a much better result.
Awesome... I started collecting Takumar lenses a while ago when I came across a Super Takumar 135/3.5 by chance in a thrift store... I had a Helios 44 on my camera with the M42 adapter and so I was able to try it out right there in the store... I was blown away by the image I was getting and the superb handling of the lens. Meanwhile I aquired the 135/2.5 too, but I actually prefer the 3.5 because of its size and light weight (and because it was my first Takumar ;) ). Now I also got a 28/3.5, the 35/3.5 (they're so tiny and fun), a 55/1.8 and 2 of the 300/4 just for fun because I got them really cheap... I need to explore the faster ones next, but I already love the ones I have! :)
Oh yes i got my best pictures for the mikado with two contax pro flash sysem just from the front row Even now looking back i cant believe i took them..all manual obviously in those days
I used the 1.4 in the 80s. Bridal Got the best pics ever in my life
The Squarehood hood is out, I bought it and it is so nice!
Ooft! How’s the 135 2.5? ❤
I really like the Panasonic LUMIX digicams. The TZ series and ZS series of digicams are amazing, I have one of each.
Canon FL 35mm 2.5 excellent lens, excellent quality, clean and neutral, in terms of controls it is minimalistic, you need to get used to it.
Looks like you aren't a fan of fisheye lenses... talking about correcting the distortion and mentioning that you don't own a fisheye. But they do have their virtues, too. Fisheyes do bend straight lines at the edges of the image, but they keep the shapes of the objects there more natural than rectilinear ultrawides. If there is a ball near the edge of the image, it looks like an egg through a rectilinear wide-angle, but in a fisheye image it stays round. Rectilinear lenses keep the shape of a planar object correct when shot straight towards it, but to do that it has to stretch the edges, because those areas are seen from an angle. And then three-dimensional objects get distorted. Distortion is just different from what a fisheye does, but it is there. Fisheyes are made with different projections, and stereographic lenses keep the shape most accurate. Other projections squeeze the edges more. If you take a fisheye landscape image keeping the horizon in the middle so that it remains straight, you get a wide image where the objects have their natural shapes, and you don't even notice the fisheye effect. But I understand that sometimes you want to defish the image, when wanting to straighten some lines that don't look nice when bent. I think the easiest way to find the best value for defishing for your particular lens would be to shoot sraight at a brick wall or some other grid. Your demo image in this video wasn't very easy to interpret :) BTW I do like the style of your videos. Nice!
Nice video, I have a TV ZOOM LENS 11.5-70mm F1.8 M42, but dont know how to make it working with a M42-E adapter on my Sony ZV E10, do you have any idea how to use it on Modern camera?
55mm f2.8 Micro AI-S one of their best
I start photography just over 2 years ago when I purchased a Canon R7; recently I purchased a used R6 and am very much enjoying being on full frame.
Glad you’re enjoying it!
I am using my canon ixus 200 is that I got in my high school. I completely can relate that I rarely post or even process my iPhone 13 Pro photos, but canon camera is just so fun to play around with! I don’t think that it’s worth to buy an old digicam for 70$+, but if you are able to find one for cheap, it can be a cool toy to play around with. Creates very cozy photos.
Hi, is the a way you could share your recipes with us? That would be great. Thx
A lot of these aren’t straight out of camera, I wasn’t happy with how they came out of camera so ran them through dehancer
Thanks for this review of 20's. Did you notice any differences in barrel distortion for these lenses?
I didn’t notice anything too different between them but in the flare examples would be a good way to judge if there’s anything big differences for you as I’m planning the camera
@@calebbrunkow Thanks!
Kind of wish you didn’t blow it up :/
This camera was blowing up long before I made a video
Great video!! I have the 24mm 2.8 AIS… im trying to attatch to a Viltrox speedbooster to a blackmagic pocket 4k. There is a protruding flange in back of the lens that doesn’t allow attachment to speed booster anyone know a way around? Thanks🙏
I haven’t used that lens in specific but I know that is an issue for a few AIS lenses, I’ve heard some people say they shave it down but that’s a sort of do at your own risk sort of situation
@@calebbrunkow yes I was looking for videos on how to do… but thank you🙏
What if i am not filming in log?
@@victorias.8135 this only applies for filming with CLog 3
I sold my R6 and bought the original BM 6K. You mention in passing how comfortable you are filming with the BM. The Canon had me crippled. Too many settings to remember. Too many dependencies. Too much if this not that. Much more unusable footage than usable. 95% of what I shoot on the BM is usable footage. It made me a better story teller.
@@inSurfersParadise that’s awesome!
@@calebbrunkow I do miss the R6 for stills. Figuring on picking up an EOS R. 2 cameras for the price of the R6.
Hey Caleb! Which adapter do you use for the canon FL to RF?
@@ThiagoMazzeo it’s just a basic fotasy FD/FL one. Pretty much any of them work but just make sure you have one that you can take the pin out of if you have any of the FL’s with the weird back

@@calebbrunkow its a great lens. Lives on my 50r unless I am taking portraits
The color shift note in the same is a great idea. I’ve been dealing with this same issue recently. This short cut will definitely help.
@@ebbxflow glad you found it useful!
hi there! this video was so helpful and I’m super new to any cameras but I was wondering if the photos shown in this video were taken raw from the camera or edited at all on a computer? sorry if this question is dumb i’m new to this stuff
@@RazzieVR all of the photos in this video were either raw or with very minor tweaks like white balance adjustments cause I couldn’t get it exactly where I wanted it in camera for some shots
I believe that you should be able to shoot raw with the sd1000 if you sideload the CHDK firmware onto the memory card. It opens up a plethora of options compared to the standard settings. Was able to do so with my sd1400is and it works like a charm !
That’s awesome! I’ll have to check that out
what with 1600 ?
1600 is clean too
It's one of those Canon Ixus cameras that's built like a piece of jewellery. Looks and feel are very important...like slightly earlier cameras like the Contax TVS Digital, with it's sapphire shutter release button. If you start snapping at a wedding or event, it won't be long until some one is asking about that 'pretty little camera'.
True!
Better than a plastic hot shoe cover is the JJC eye cup for the XE4 that gives you especially in bright light a clear view through the EVF.
That’s awesome! Haven’t tried that but may have to
Thorium, as I understand it, is in the glass itself. The rear element. So I buy an adapter and leave it on permanently. You gotta wonder about the safety for workers who made these lenses and others who made millions of them.
For sure! Wonder what the working conditions were like and yes I believe the thorium is in the actual glass
I got my 50mm f1.2 fd for 25 bucks at a thrift shop and I love it
What an amazing deal!
Hi I am having trouble trying to upload the photos to my phone!! Is there any other way than the SD card? If not please tell me how with the sd card because I have such cool photos on this camera and I don’t know how to upload them!
If you have Apple products you can just airdrop them from your computer to your phone which is what I do but you should also be able to get an sd card reader to whatever your phone port is and do it that way
I bought one for £5 in a charity shop. I didn't want the camera, just the case which fitted my 500HS. I decided to turn it into a IR camera, which I did. Then, I saw how much they're going for so have converted it back, this morning.
Damn this is sad... Another underrated channel on TH-cam :'(
The Squarehood for that 27/F2 Voigtländer is being avialable since 4 months...came shortly after your video 🙂
I thought it was so funny they launched it like as I hit upload it seemed, love that hood
I have the Rokinon 20mm1.8 A manuel focus lens i set the aperture through the camera instead of using the aperture ring on the lens . A good low light lens but has flaring problems from bright lights
you NEED to check PORST lenses
They’ve been on my radar a while! Just haven’t gotten around to them yet
I have a 50S, and have considered switching to the 50R with the SmallRig grip a few times, but each time I think of the lower viewfinder magnification, I drop it again. I wish they had done a little better here. I might eventually go for a 50S II or a 100S. I am currently selling my XPan with 45mm and 90mm lenses. Lovely camera, but I use it so rarely.
I think if you already have a 50S it’s not worth it to swap it out with the R. The only thing you’re really paying for at that point is the styling
@@calebbrunkow And the nose-grease-free rear screen :D The body is both shorter and slimmer too. But yeah, I will probably hold out for a 100S.
@@MorningNapalm the 100S would be a cool one to have
I have a canon powershot sd630 which came out in 2006 and still takes better photos than my brand new sony xperia smartphone with carl zeiss lens
Have you ever tried the Voigtländer 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar II? It's also a pancake lens but I much prefer the classic design along with the focal length over this one. A conspicuous classic decently fast nifty-fifty lens, honestly I thought Fuji would've made one already on their own but nope.
I haven’t tried that one yet but sounds awesome! May have to
Its an Leica M mount or LTE mount version, you need a Leica M to Fujifilm X adapter..which makes everything bigger. That Color-Skopar is also 35mm, for 36x24mm Sensors - and not for APS-C hereby. (edit) Yes, you can use Fujifilms own adapter, but then you do have a 52.5mm focal length - and no more 35mm for real...in terms of FoV, so it doesn't make sense. Since a nifty-fifty is more compressed FoV, than a wideangle 35mm lens, for real. (Fujifilm, Sony, Pentax & Nikon APS-C is usually x1.52 cropfactor - Canon APS-C is x1.6)
@@marcp.1752 yes, I am aware. Fortunately Leica M (along with LTM39) to other mirrorless camera adaptors are quite thin and small so the lens will still be compact when mounted while still retaining electrical contact. I prefer longer focal length, my phone can do the wide stuff so I never felt the need to have wide lenses (I don't like wide angle distortions either). What doesn't make sense exactly? Yes, the crop factor will make it a classic nifty-fifty, that is exactly what I said.
@@shira_yone For my taste, that Color Skopar 35/2.5 (II) doesn't make sense via crop Sensor, because you'd end up with 52.5mm FoV in 35mm terms, plus the added adapter. But if you're being fine with roughly 50mm, it's fine. But everyone is being different. I'd use that lens on a Leica M film, or even digital, if i'd own one. Have the also very small Heliar 40/2.8, which fits perfectly the CL/CLE.
@@marcp.1752 okay. It definitely made sense to me. The Heliar 40/2.8 is also one lens I'm interested in, since it'll be a 61mm lens in 35mm terms on a Fuji X system. Another one is a really tiny lens, the TTArtisan 28/5.6 (a copy of Summaron 28/5.6) made of brass. I think this Voigtlander 27/2 in the video is probably better overall, but the TTArtisan does look really cool (and is cheaper).
I have a 50mm 1.8 that picked from a thrift shop for $20. I haven’t printed out the negatives to see how they look
Lemme know how they came out!
powershotsx150is
A thing nobody ever talked about but i really dont like about the lens, is the fact that its not sharp across the frame beacause of its strong field curvature. The lens is not even sharp across the frame to the edges at f5.6 and at this aperture even the midframes are a bit blurry. At F11 its okay. I really love this lens, especially for portraits, but because of this downside its not suited for me for an "always on camera" lens for everything. I more like to walk around with the 58 1.2 because that lens is at f2 as sharp across the frame the dream lens is at f5.6, and therefore suited for landscapes much better.
I hear ya! That field curvature definitely lends to the “dream lens” aspect of it but not great from a technical standpoint. Love the 58 1.2 FL!!
I picked up the Vivitar/Tokina 35-105mm f3.5 with Pentax K mount for cheap. It's actually fairly nice lens. It adapts super easy to my RF body and the results are very nice. Pretty darn sharp and useable throughout the focal range. I took it with my on a vacation I took to the East coast earlier this year. I took along a Quantaray 24mm f2.5 also with the PK mount and the combo of those two lenses meant that I didn't have to bring along a lot more lenses. Though I did stuff an Industar N-61 53mm f2.8 into the kit because its so funky and small. That whole kit ended up making me very cool images during the week long trip. The zoom lens was a huge help, though it is a heavy beast. But it has a nice little macro feature that allows it to focus pretty close. Not a true 1:1 macro, but it helps to get you closer to the subject and its useable throughout the focal range. Unlike some other vintage zoom lenses in this same sort of range. Often they can only use the macro feature at the wide end. Anyhow, another option.
Really appreciate the input! Sounds like a great setup you have there
Nice video! And to clarify, the non-moving glass element in the L lens is indeed the floating element that's there to correct the image during close focus situations.
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the insight!
I remember saving up for this as a teen and spending probably the most money i ever had on something. Hoping to be able to dig it up in my old storage.
That’s awesome! Hope you find it
