I'm 72 and still listening to Mark my favourite guitar player I've got a vintage copy of the resonator guitar he's using at the start wish i could play one bit of that but my favourite guitar is this Pensa what a lovely sound all the best to Mark and his fans
Omg, I am in love with this. I have listened to it every night in the kitchen for a long time. Still, it nearly brings tear to my eyes every time. It’s delicious to me.
Last summer I was in the Telegraph pub waiting for my son's train to arrive to join us on holiday (we're from Sheffield). This came on after toon had just won 5-0. The place went nuts. I will never forget that half hour.. I'm addicted to this song now. Update 5-1 Vs villa
He is in an class of its own. What guitaring style he plays and nobody play it. Simply an class. Superb communicator with his rustic vocals and abstract guitaring with his team of classy artists. Perfect.
I had the pleasure of seeing Mark Knopfler and his band at the Dome in Perth West Australia back in 2005 and Why Aye Man was his opening number on the night. We were seated 5 rows from the front of the stage in which you could feel the sound waves pulsing past your face during this number. great song a great night which will forever I will remember. Thanks MK
Thank you Mark. You're perfomance was pure magic and I will hear you're talent and music until I fall off my perch and fly up into the place where all great musicians do what what they love to do 😇
Огромное спасибо за вашу работу. Музыка 20го века не умрет, но парни стареют и уходят из жизни. Thank you so much for your work. The music of the 20th century will not die, but the guys are aging and passing away.
God Bless you Mr. M. Knopfler.
A very interesting, & great, performance. I didn't understand this song until my XBIL from Scotland explained Thatcher's workers exodus policy to me. Why me, man?
We had no way of staying afloat We had to leave on the ferry boat Economic refugees On the run to Germany We had the back of Maggie's hand Times were tough in geordieland We got work tools and working gear And humped it all from Newcastle to here Why aye man, why aye, why aye man Why aye man, why aye, why aye man We're the nomad tribes, traveling boys In the dust and dirt and the racket and the noise Drills and hammers, diggers and picks Mixing concrete, laying bricks There's English, Irish, Scots, the lot United nation's what we've got Brickies, chippies, every trade German building, British-made Why aye man, why aye, why aye man Why aye man, why aye, why aye man Nae more work on Maggie's farm Hadaway down the autobahn Mine's a portacabin bed Or a bunk in a nissen hut instead There's plenty Deutschmarks here to earn And German tarts are wunderschoen German beer is chemical-free Germany's alright with me Sometimes I miss my river Tyne But you're my pretty Fraulein Tonight we'll drink the old town dry Keep work spirit levels high Why aye man, why aye, why aye man Why aye man, why aye, why aye man
Politics should always solv people's problems but..... not always so!!. Thatcherism an example critically composed/sung by Mark in this beautiful song..🌹🎶❣️

The man aged very well, and is so much better now than he was 50 years ago, when I first heard him on the radio.
L'harmonie, l'écho dun violon et de Sa guitare et mon âme qui s'envole... Merci Monsieur Knopfler ❤

Why me, man?
We had no way of staying afloat
We had to leave on the ferry boat
Economic refugees
On the run to Germany

Times were tough in geordieland

And humped it all from Newcastle to here
Why aye man, why aye, why aye man

Drills and hammers, diggers and picks
Mixing concrete, laying bricks
There's English, Irish, Scots, the lot
United nation's what we've got
Brickies, chippies, every trade
German building, British-made
Why aye man, why aye, why aye man
Why aye man, why aye, why aye man
Nae more work on Maggie's farm
Hadaway down the autobahn
Mine's a portacabin bed
Or a bunk in a nissen hut instead
There's plenty Deutschmarks here to earn
And German tarts are wunderschoen
German beer is chemical-free
Germany's alright with me
Sometimes I miss my river Tyne
But you're my pretty Fraulein
Tonight we'll drink the old town dry
Keep work spirit levels high
Why aye man, why aye, why aye man
Why aye man, why aye, why aye man
