    Hey Frederico! Thank you for your nice words. The hardware and network configuration you see in this video belongs to an automation system we deigned for a refinery so all see here is technically correct.
    If you see four IMs in the NetPro instead of tow it means you have not used the “Insert Redundant” option while copying the IMs. I have made you some screenshots to show how to do that in 3 simple steps. Click the link below:

    Is the repeater necessary to make the link between the 2 CPUs and the HMI Panel? Can't we use the same way as done between the CPU-A IM-A-1 IM-A-2 ?

    • @realpars

      Redouane KECHIDA We need to connect two CPUs to a HMI panel that only has one input! So we do need to use the repeater. It works like a adapter here.

    • @realpars
      @realpars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, of course. That is the normal way that Profibus is connected in a segment (daisy-chained)when you have multiple devices. The Profibus connectors shown in the video have an IN terminal and an OUT terminal. In your example, device 3 and device 1 only have one connection, so you would enable the segment terminator (via slide switch) at those connectors.

    • @realpars

      SWR = software redundancy. This cable is a ProfiBus network cable that connects to a communication interface (CP) card on PLC A and to a CP card on PLC B.

    What if there are two rs repeaters which each one is connected to different Profibus network, then one out of the DP is connected to the other one , then looped through to be connected to HMI
    How set that up in HW configuration?

    • @realpars
      @realpars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Saed,
      Thank you for your question! The Siemens system in the network configuration has embedded software rules it follows, and when you compile the software for errors, it will notify you and gives you some solutions to help solve the errors. But what you are asking, I believe, is not possible.
      Here is a link for your review on the possible redundancy possibilities with Siemens PLC.

      Let me put my question clearer.
      Two CPU s71500 type
      Each one of the them is connected to the same a Redundant IM ( only one i/o Rack)
      Ok
      The two OUT DP signalS from the IM are connected as IN signal to two RS repeaters , namely repeater A and B
      The out of the repeater A is connected to the out of repeater B then looped to the HMI from Repeater B .
      How to set this configuration in HW configuration.
      I am so grateful for your response in advance.

    • @realpars

      The HMI in the video is connected to the MPI network, a network type that uses the same connector as the Profibus network but is connected to an MPI port instead of a Profibus port. MPI = Multipoint interface, and was the original communication interface introduced by Siemens. It is well-suited for connections to HMI panels and other peripherals in an S7-300 architecture.

    • @realpars
      @realpars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Noemí Maqueda , using IM varies based on the project and application. For the project that you see in this video, we're using Profibus-DP network and connecting the DP port on the CPU directly to the IM on the next rack.

      realpars.vhx.tv/plc-hardware/videos/35-interface-module-final-1 this is the 14h video I was talking about, there you used an IM next to the CPU, even when the DP port was free... Why?

    • @realpars
      @realpars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noemi, Glad to hear your positive feedback. As I stated before, there are different projects. Depending on your project, sometimes you need to add an interface module next to the CPU and sometimes you need to make use of the port that you have on the CPU. In this video, we have an S7-300 redundant system. That's why we use a diffrent configuration.

Assume there is a setting on HW config about maximum DP Slave device that can be possible added in this CPU.

    • @realpars

      I assume you meant ET200M, not IM200M. You should be able to add as many Profibus DP modules as is allowed by the protocol (126 nodes per segment). I suspect you are not setting up your network configuration properly. Why do you say you cannot add another DP slave device? Did you get an error message during the hardware configuration? Are your slaves all set to unique node numbers between 2 and 126?

    What's a CP module? And what's the meaning of SWR?

    • @realpars
      @realpars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CP =- communication processor. A CP card adds a communication port to the CPU, such as an additional ProfibusDP port, as in this video. SWR = software redundancy. This is software-driven redundancy strategy that uses peer-to-peer communication between two CPUs to provide a backup in case the primary CPU (CPU_A) fails.
