He's pretty much the old father while everyone else are rebellious teenagers, T
the teenagers didn't t listen to their father only to find out too late that he's right. And since he's already kicked the bucket, they can't apologize to their dad for not listening.
In all of Aot, Floch is one of the most real feeling characters, to me at least, like just such a realistic (and traumatized) human, with very self-consistent behavior. More and more I felt myself rooting for and sympathizing with him. I’m upset that he was killed, by Gabi of all freakin’ plot armored people.
I didn't read the manga but i'm sure mans wont die by getting winged in the soldier after all he's been through. Man is probably the most realistic character though. Any of the MCs would act like him if this show were real

But besides that floch is a really great and interesting character. And about the alliance's you could say that they kinda betrayed eldia but for a good reason, i mean history shows that this stupid unnecessary circle of hatred needs to be stopped

I partially can understand why people don't like Floch. But I get mad when their arguments are stupid.
You can doubt his morals and it's perfectly fine, but purposely ignoring his road to become like this and looking at his character shallowly, that is stupid.
Maybe his ways weren't perfect, but at the end he was fighting for his Paradis survivance, while the group trying to stop Eren were, like Foch haters, purposely ignoring the fact that if Eren was stopped, the whole world would be momentary united to destroy them and take from the island so much resources and eldian slaves as they could before starting fight each other again.
Hange&co could sleep in peace knowing they didn't have to dirt their hands "allowing a massacre", but they chose not to think that stopping the rumbling (at the beginning if they'd have could) could mean their own people death, also in a massacre.

Not much depth in Floch character. The narrative shows him as a stupid sadist fascist bastard, an evil representative. Yeagerists became "morally gray" only in their last fight.
I became a fan of Floch's character the moment he gave the speech to Mikasa, about how Erwin being the devil and doing whatever it takes to succeed, even though it sounded crazy to hear.

If Floch was in s1-s3 like he is in s4 he would be a fan favorite, now people hate him because he stands against armin, mikasa and the others and stays true to eldia and his people.
Everyone else knows that if they stop eren, other countries will destroy eldia. So they choose everyone else instead of their own people.
Floch know this too. And chooses his own people. He is not a bad guy. Neither is Eren. It was an us or them situation and they choose "us" which is understandable.

Erwin was never meant to idolized. He constantly took gambles and stood on a pile of human sacrifices. It’s the reason he didn’t want to come back and died in the first place.
Floch is more like Erwin than people realize. Both are sacrificing others for the sake of Paradis Island. Both are insanely charismatic.
Biggest difference? Floch actually believed in his cause. While Erwin wanted to further his own goals.
Floch is easily the best character. A scumbag for sure. But his character arc is so incredibly good.
Erwin was sacrificing others for his own dream though and floch was doing it to save the island. I don't see much similarities besides them both become devils. The difference is, floch wanted to be a devil and seems to enjoy being a devil while erwin died, not as a devil but as a hero.
