    Love the scientific approach very informative. On the GVM topic where does it end, I believe the caravan manufacturers need to have a good at themselves also 3000kg plus vans, no doubt you can do better on the weight saving front.

    Good video. Disappointed in the 300 series insofar that you still need a GVM upgrade to tow a 20ft off road van plus all of the accessories required for long term touring. Seriously considering replacing my 200 series with an American pick-up.

      American pickups in their 1500 form are the same or worse. RAM DS models particularly have weak rear axles - check out the Jmacx channel; they did a good video on it. You could get a 2500/3500, but do you want all the licensing / parking complications that come with it?

    I noticed this review is nowhere near as comprehensive as the review of the Defender. I think your reviews should all be the same so we can get an idea on pros and cons of each tow vehicle we are considering.

    interesting, thanks for posting. can you confirm that if there was a GVM upgrade , from your results it 'may' only be good if the axle ratings are increased? also what if more passengers (family) are included?

    Hey guys, when are we going to see the LC300 tow test?

      Hi Ian, as a customer is kindly lending us this vehicle to do these videos we are working around their schedule. At the moment they are out enjoying their new toy!
      We will hopefully get a tow pro in the 300 next week for them and take it for a tow test before handing it back over.

    Informative vid has rear axle max load been reduced to 1930 kg 200 series is 1950 kg has the gcm also been reduced on the 300 series?

    Looks Like a 18.6 Zone RV off road so should not weigh 3.5 T standard. Did you add weight to make it a measurable 3.5T?

    • @GR8Tmate
      @GR8Tmate 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s probably loaded to ATM, with full water tanks & possessions. Not really about the Zone, he’s just using it as a weight.

  • @jwoods6585

    for the money toyota want for one of these you shouldn't need aftermarket upgrades

    • @GR8Tmate
      @GR8Tmate 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      TBH, I don’t honk Toyota really cares about the aftermarket upgrades. At the end of the day the aftermarket industry assists Toyota by giving them an ‘out’ on certain warranty claims. It’s a WIN/WIN/WIN for them. All the other manufacturers are the same 😏

    40 kg increase with the driver in and "Allowing 40kg for an additional passenger"....what for, another 12 year old?

    • @GR8Tmate
      @GR8Tmate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe He said he weighs 80kg. When he sat in the drivers seat the front axel load increased by 40kg & the other 40 went to the rear (😂 funny about that).
      Anyway, he was referring to an extra 40 on the rear axel. Hope that helps.

    So basically another massive fail for anyone wanting to tow a 3.5t van and take the family away on holidays - over weight and uninsured.

    • @arielle_australia
      @arielle_australia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all. You can have a 300 kg TBM on a 3.5T van, provided you pack the van well. That leaves you with enough payload for the family. Just not much payload left over for aftermarket gear, which you can do without on fam holidays.

    • @Nascup

      @@Nascup The math checks out. Kerb weight +150kg for two passengers + 300 TBM leaves you with 163kg payload.
