There's apparently a great double CD Hoodoo Gurus collection out but I cannot possibly find it in America here anymore. Not even in NYC. It's sad. I have to order it soon on EBay or Amazon. That's if I can even find it.
@@DumbBaby not at all skewed.... it's a God given fact. The younger one is the less they know and therefore, less to stress about. The 80's were a grand decade for some, especially for myself. It was the age of "new". And, even though we didnt know it at the time, the 80's would lay the ground work for what would happen for at least the next 40 years. Have a great day. I'm gonna go close my eyes and miss the 80's again.
Oh my goodness......I heard this on WXRT in Chicago back in the late 1980s. I never knew what it was called or who performed it. Google was not part of everyday life yet..... so this was on my TH-cam feed and WOW, what a surprise!!
Geez we had some great bands over the years, these songs remind me of the end of high school and starting work as a fresh green kid with gnarly hard working guys. They were a soundtrack for my youth and it was a good carefree time. The Hoodoo's were one of my all time favourite bands and were amazing. They had such great songs and a really awesome fun vibe. Even as an older guy now I still love playing their songs on guitar and listening to them
I was a lowly roadie for the Hoodoo Gurus in 1993 up and down the east coast of Aus, I did that gig for two years just because Live crewing with Michael daffnis (daffy) thought I was good at setting up their par-cans and he thought I liked their sets! I did, but seriously
"What's My Scene?" is a song by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus. It was released in March 1987 as the lead single from their third studio album Blow Your Cool!. The song reached number 3 in Australia.
Blow Your Cool is a great album from '87. It got a lot of airplay on the college radio station on campus. I remember the Gurus from when they toured with the Bangles a year or so before this album came out. Bangles did some back up vocals on this album as well. Awesome band, highly underrated here in the states!
Curto pra caramba essa banda, eu mesmo sendo nascido em 94, me sinto como se tivesse feito parte desses som da década de 80s, a vibe é indescritível. 🇧🇷
Might be because a lot of the bands still believe in making it fun. Used to love reading their album liner notes and all the references to "junk culture" (that is, lowbrow pop culture, not a drug thing)
Because so much of AusRock in those days was fun or sounded fun and upbeat. We didn't take ourselves too seriously. Looking back, it reminds you of a time when we were all carefree, young and thought that anything was possible, and our music reflected that. It's what we all desire in life.
Hey hoodoo Gurus i have to say i first heard you in 1986 while we were supposed to be playing tennis at high school and they were playing your music over the loud speaker .. and i thought yes on so many levels and i know its hard sometimes to understand yourself but after seeing you with julia and just talking dave faulkner that was a gift and its all bitter sweet in the end but the gift you and your band have given us is remarkable and irreplaceable so dont forget that...and im gonna jig now to your music..Sometimes the most complex people are actually really kind and real ... Sharon😊😊
This is a song too really get your vibes jumping out of your skin. We know theres a better way. Anyday. And im glad i can play ▶️ it any day. And get that feeling of shooting a curl. 🌊
One of Aussies most underrated and under .. exposed 80's psychedelic rock/pop acts of the era. Was mid-teens at the time, but like most 80's music, doesn't ever seem to age... yep, that's the phrase: outside of time :p
I just brought one of their albums back to Korea (cleaning out mom’s basement - been living abroad over 25 years). Bought a record player! Grew up in New Orleans in the ‘80s where they were played in clubs.
For years I forgot about the Hoodoo Gurus.
Today I remembered.
Happy day.

Um a kiwi and we all loved the hoodoos back when they hit the radio waves mid 80's and still do and❤ to all the great ozzie bands, keep it coming😊😅😊
Me three ;)
@@thiscorrosion900 Yeah I bought their compilation CD years ago but I think it was a single disk IIRC.
One of the most underated bands ever.
criminally
Big time
right up there w the replacements, Husker Du, Big star, Fountains of wayne,...
A great Australian band so underrated but whose legacy will outlive us all.
they are active
They are touring 2024
The days where more happier and less stressful back then, great memories!!
What's so stressful about your days now??
That's because you were younger.
Only seemingly, in retrospect. I fall for that one sometimes too. The good feels from the music paired with distant, skewed memory

This is a hell of an Aussie anthem and reminds me of many enjoyable years living there. Puts a massive smile on this Kiwis face!
No one does power-pop as good as the Gurus. NO ONE
I came across this band by accident on my feed so glad I did I've loved them ever since I did 😊
If this isn't played at my funeral I'm not showing up.😆
😂
Me too
Lol 👋😂👍
If this isn't played at your funeral, I'm not showing up, mate!
And same on my end!
My favourite Hoodoo Gurus song. Hello from Malaysia 🇲🇾
One of the hits of my teenager years!
Another amazing aussie band just another number to add to the best music nation ever and I'm a kiwi
I don't think i've heard this song since the 80's. Glad I stumbled on it again.
I listen to their songs once in a while on SiriusXm first wave radio!😎👍
One of my all time favourite bands -Australian or international!
My favorite band of all time! And being 65 I've heard a lot of them.
Oh my goodness......I heard this on WXRT in Chicago back in the late 1980s. I never knew what it was called or who performed it. Google was not part of everyday life yet..... so this was on my TH-cam feed and WOW, what a surprise!!
Just heard them on xrt today

Should have been number one. Still rocks today in March 2024
Has to be one of Aussies greatest songs, from a Nzer across the ditch. 2023.

A Rays fan AND a Gurus fan?! Let me buy you an overpriced beer at the Trop
World’s most under appreciated songs
Saw them when I was a teen at the Esplanade foreshore in Perth. Still one of the best concerts I have ever seen and it was FREE
I was at that concert I think. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the sound wasn't the best because it was really windy.
Whangarparoa, New Zealand 1st March 2023 - AWESOME Show. Amazing energy. LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!! Wahoooooooooooooooooo
Fabulous band - timeless music. I feel happy whenever I hear this!
The lyrics start and finish mid sentence.... masterful. I always put on the Hoodoos when I need a good smile and a dance. Fantastic Ozzie band!!
I was in Venice back in 87 when I first heard this, an Aussie overseas for awhile, brought me straight back home in my head.
OMG Love this song and forgot it existed!!!!
I had this album in highschool! I haven't heard these songs in so long. Thanks for putting them on TH-cam!
I love fun 1980s music videos!
I saw them live in Liverpool UK in 1985. they were great and did a brilliant version of Galveston for the encore. I wish there was a recording of it.
Feels like a satisfying end to a really good Tv show
One of Australia's greatest anthems, yet only has 30K views?? C'mon mang.
There was an upload with millions of views that seems to have been taken down.
people who listen to this dont use youtube.

Curto pra caramba essa banda, eu mesmo sendo nascido em 94, me sinto como se tivesse feito parte desses som da década de 80s, a vibe é indescritível.

One of the best Aussie live bands ever f**king fabulous lots of great songs
Why is this song so relatable?
Definitely the most fun I ever had at a show!
One of the great videos to one of the great Aussie songs. Our band tried this just last week at our mid-week jam. Such a fun song to sing.
I remember this song in a surf video from the 80’s.
Love it! ❤
I really love the energy of this band! Amazing!
This really deserves millions of views, such a great tune.
😮 still here..always will.
They are so underated
Have LOVED the GURUS since Stoneage Romeos! They STILL BLOW MY MIND!!!!!🤩 sgl
Probably one of my earliest introductions to Australian rock. Still not sure why it's so good.

I can remember going to UNSW in 83 and seeing the Le Hoodoo Gurus concert posters on the Roundhouse
just awesome truely
Dave F. has one of the best voices I've heard.
And a ton of energy
Saw em with the Bangles in western Kentucky years ago.
First band I saw live in 1984 at the Newcastle Workers Club
This song is basically about that one person in the 20s I can’t figure out their life.
Top of Aussie Pop!
Just awesome music 🎶 🎵 ❤️ 👌 👏 👏👏👏👏
I love this
What a great song writer or writing group I dunno if he did em all himself. Anyway, really good. Top notch craftsmanship.
