As a kid, when I lived in Tampa Fl, my family had to temporarily move in with a relative. The stay was so short that I can't remember the school I attended, but I was befriended by a short, kind of chubby black girl on the bus ride home that day, and she invited me over to her house. I went over to her home, although I knew I would get in a lot of trouble for entering someone home, my mom didn't know. We talked about songs and artists we liked, and of course, most of our songs were from the African American culture. She introduced me to many songs from the caucasian culture that I was oblivious to, which included this song. I will never forget ....she turned her back to me and suddenly turned around with black sunglasses on and started to sing this song, which was her favorite. I was hooked, we sang this song over and over again. Then I had to go home. What I didn't know that the friendship we just established that day was brief, so brief that I would go home to find out we were moving again that weekend, and I would never see her again. So, I will use this moment to thank the black wearing the sunglasses wanting to be my friend, and introducing me to great music.

Well everybody likes and dislikes things. Sometimes that changes over time like in my case. As a little kid the song always scared me, but I grew into an adult who likes it.
@@attilavidacs24 it was a compliment. The rest of his music was super pop oriented, but "Sunglasses" had SERIOUS edge and was a great crossover hit for Corey. Check out all of the really great covers for this song on TH-cam. Its crazy!

Literally one of the best pieces of music to exist. The synth and guitar queuing up together makes a ethereal feeling for the listener and that electric guitar rivets through your soul!
God I miss the 80s so freaking bad. I used to miss the 70s but I was only a teen in the 70s. I was a full blown adult in 1980 and this is my era of being the "target demographic". America was rebounding from the 70s shutdowns and things were looking up. This was the best era of my life. The 80s started with me in the United States Navy as a signalman aka "skivvywaver" and ended with me working construction in the home town. I can't go back because if I could I'd go to 1980 and do it again.
My kids and wife know the name of this song because I always say, "I wear my sunglasses at night" when I grab my sunglasses. I am sharing the link with them so they know the song behind it.
One of the first songs to really work the effect of stereo sound. It may be taken for granted by anyone born in the last 40 years, but at the time it was really novel, and this song made the most of it.
Corey Hart wears his sunglasses at night so he can: -Watch you weave then breathe your story lines. -Keep track of the visions in his eyes. -Forget his name while you collect your claim. -See the light that's right before his eyes.
One of the worst songs. So many actual good artists came out in the 80s. I’ll never understand why the general public settled for such atrocious sounding songs as this.
I feel like I'm being subjected to some sort of experiment of perception. I thought up a whole music video around this concept that doesn't even relate to the song.

I agree, but I'm going to say the 80s was the best. Just the BEST. It's 2024 and I still grieve for the 80s. 😢
Facts honestly?
I wonder what this song means?
What was he going thru
For him to think about the lyrics and music video?
Ah 2024 is the best Taylor swift is the greatest artist of all time . She writes music from personal experience in the 80s they had so many song writers
40s to the 60s were very different as well.
Propeller planes to Jets
Atom bombs to hydrogen bombs
Rockets to Sputnik to going to the Moon 🌙 🌚
I am 55 yrs old now and i listened his musics in my 80's♥️♥️
Hi I just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day!
Made it to 58 today and jamin' to it! Hey, those were the times.
I'm 300 years old....
What a absolute banger we need music like this to come back.
thats what im talking about
We really really do!
Try retrowave. Running in the night, river of darkness, and only when it's dark are quite good.
With a singer of this generation to cover this song.that is the closest we can do to bring back this kind of music.expect modern instruments as well.

80s One of the best times to be alive. No other time has so many great artists lived.
How does a human dislike this song...this worlds crazy
Society has a lot of dumb shits in it.
I agreed...
They’re soft don’t know what bathrooms to use and get but hurt yes I know I misspelled
Well everybody likes and dislikes things. Sometimes that changes over time like in my case. As a little kid the song always scared me, but I grew into an adult who likes it.
Because they don’t like wearing sunglasses at night lol

The 80’s were the absolute best years for music!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
YES IT IS 😊😊
The mid sixties up to the mid seventies were the best years but then come the 80's that's for sure. 👍
@@gernotboesser6901 don't
@Gernotdont
Don't switch the blades on the guy in shades oh no truly legendary corey hart 1984
One of the most iconic songs of the 80's. Corey Hart should have made Metal!!
Why should he have made metal? This is far better.
@@attilavidacs24 it was a compliment. The rest of his music was super pop oriented, but "Sunglasses" had SERIOUS edge and was a great crossover hit for Corey. Check out all of the really great covers for this song on TH-cam. Its crazy!
@@attilavidacs24 I think he's saying that parts of this song shows he has the voice for it if he wanted to do harder songs.
I'm driving back to the 80's Who's going with me
ME!
Hope we see the Spaceballs there.
Shotgun! Can i keep my mullet?
yes and turbo charge that !
me...
You got the DeLorean?
Visions in my eye!
The last memory I have of my uncle was him singing karaoke to this song around the time of St. Patrick’s Day this past year. He loved this song. Rest in peace, Uncle Mike. Love you so much 🕶
Sorry to hear about that , rest in piece.
SilentRetro Thank you.
He's wearing his sunglasses in heaven, rip
Kevin Davis Thank you so much for that. :)
I raise a drink to Uncle Mike
80's still going strong in 2020
Wow, you are so cute.. like holy cow..
Did you know there are german texans.
Literally one of the best pieces of music to exist. The synth and guitar queuing up together makes a ethereal feeling for the listener and that electric guitar rivets through your soul!
I know it’s not based in the 1980s anymore, but this song better be in GTA 6.
NOPE really did an awesome job on this one
Damn what a song man why can’t people make music like this anymore
cause to many "singers" depend on autotune.
@@dons8122 some artists don't even use real drummers anymore. it's computerized.
They switched from blow and Acid to cough syrup and antidepressants.
It was a good question but l think we are happy with it💯
Blame tech
65 years old & I still wear sunglasses at night & my wife loves it . 😎
63😘😉😎✌
innocent old people c:
da hora mesmo
Lol thats so cute
Lol
Pass it on to the next generations... That's what dads are for.
That's a beautiful story, Jeff.
You, my dad, my uncle, and now myself have that in common.
@@The_Great_Eye - It is funny how well remembered this song is.
GO JEFF!!! :D
my dad's music taste is a million times better than mine can ever be. this is GOLD
Learn from your Pop!
youre lucky you have that kind of a relationship with your dad...
@@ceytserin7919 I'm very blessed ik, and I'm grateful for it
Eyerything from 80`s music is epic now in retrospective.
Why can’t music today be like this I mean pop today really sucks and I have no idea how people like it
Before the duckface became popular...... There was already Corey Hart.......
:28 lol
Right, lmao.
Underrated comment. All I can give is one up.
And Billy Idol
The duck face only became popular because all the damn lip injections these women are getting.
One of the first songs to really work the effect of stereo sound. It may be taken for granted by anyone born in the last 40 years, but at the time it was really novel, and this song made the most of it.
When someone says nostalgia, I automatically remember how fun it was growing up in the 80s
Man, you said it!
I feel sorry for the millennials.
They had/have a sucky childhood
I remember how fun it was playing GTA Vice City as a kid
Yep me too, I remember putting on our sunglasses at night helping my mom do the dishes and singing and dancing to this song lol
I was 10 and I remember my Mom yelling at me to take off those stupid sunglasses when this song came on the car.
Wow I haven’t heard this in forever and randomly came across it on Spotify. Love 80s synth like this. Needs to make a comeback.
TH-cam "New Retro Wave"
This is why I miss the 80's 🔥🎸
You don't look like you experienced the 80s lol
@@deadengineer6951he’s very young that’s true
simply a masterpiece
As a black kid growin with a mama who’s loved the 80s, this was my SHIT!

Corey Hart wears his sunglasses at night so he can:
-Watch you weave then breathe your story lines.
-Keep track of the visions in his eyes.
-Forget his name while you collect your claim.
-See the light that's right before his eyes.
He sight
He see light
But most importantly he wear his sunglasses at night

Thank you.
Underrated comment. Please move to top.
He is a watcher he was put here to protect human kind he knows all he will be our saviour in 2020 ..

ugh thank you, I exactly wanted to know what he said after that line haha
Love you still Corey, stay strong mate ❤
One of the best songs of the 80"s. I still listen to this music even today and I love it. Cool Song!😃
Me too!
Yessirrrr
One of the worst songs. So many actual good artists came out in the 80s. I’ll never understand why the general public settled for such atrocious sounding songs as this.
@@JordanBlue1 lemme guess……you love the Beatles? Elvis? How original. Go be salty somewhere else please I’m tryna flex some sunglasses
@@jesussanchez8848 nah they suck
Young Harrison Ford looks. Billy Idol-like confidence and charisma. Incredible voice and songwriter. True 80's legend.
70 '80' 90 'this music will never sound out of time
This is one of the songs that defines the 80's for me. An 80's music binge is incomplete without it.
This will always be a classic!!! 80s was the best decade hands down🥰😍❤️
The 80's will never die I love this song!!!!
80s suck ! Only the early eighties Up to 1983 were cool and innovative. And this song ist from november 1983. 😁😁👍😁😁
Right on
Amen amen
I was watching "live from the upside down" from the Doritos event and I believe Vecna killed him
I was born in 93 I still enjoy from oldies 70s, 80s, 90s are best music of all time. Today's music is completely GARBAGE.
when you wear headphones the music goes back in forth in each ear
Stereo was invented in 1940 ... right in time for Corey!
It kinda feels nice.
THAT'S COOL I BET IT SOUNDS SO COOL AND TAKES THE LISTENER ON A RIDE !! ROCK ON AND I WEAR MY SUN GLASSES AT NIGHT ... ;)
That means that it's a stereo record
I feel like I'm being subjected to some sort of experiment of perception. I thought up a whole music video around this concept that doesn't even relate to the song.
