Coach Tara, wish you were here. I’d sign up for your classes. I find them immensely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to produce high quality and instructive vids. Cheers for the Deep South! 😎🇺🇸🇺🇦
Can’t properly express how much of a blessing finding your channel was to me! You’re clear AND detailed in your explanations and that’s not that easy a combo to find. Really, thank you so much for taking the time to share all this information with us, it’s very appreciated!!!!! Aside for complimenting you a lot, because you’re a great teacher and it shows (and I mean, having the experience you have it’s obvious it would be that way), I’m here for some questions: I’d like to start doing archery (I’m 20+) but I don’t have any place to learn archery at nor any archery related shop in my town or near it, so I have to learn and purchase online. I’ve been scouting around for equipment and found the “security gear”, so on that front all’s good. Now, as a beginner I don’t have that much knowledge on bows and especially arrows which I saw need several specifications to be assembled and used, starting from the material and going to the measurements. What would you suggest me? I don’t mean to compete, I’d just like to do target shooting as a means of stress relief - some do boxe, I’d like to use archery for it, I like the fluidity of the movements better and it’d be more satisfying XD So: 1 ) I think I’ve seen wooden arrows not be suggested that much because they’re heavier, right? What material do you think it’d be good to start with? I’d still need to understand the technicalities of arrow sizes and related, because from sites alone it’s a tad confusing and it might as well be my dyscalculia but even looking for information here and there doesn’t make it too clear 😅 2 ) For the bow, I was considering a 68’’ Windrunner takedown bow from Mandarin Duck (recurved) because I’ve read it be considered pretty adequate for a beginner, and most importantly-it’s available in Europe, which many of the beginner bows I’d looked for previously weren’t. Please let me know if you have any familiarity with it or if you confirm it to be a valid option to start with! 3 ) For the string, obviously it’ll wear down depending on usage, but regardless of that, how often do you think it should be changed? 4 ) Regarding the “string hand”: I’m actually right-handed, but my left eye is completely blind and it’d feel really meh/awkward trying to practice with my good eye far away from the target, even if I used my dominant hand; so I was considering purchasing a left-handed bow so as to be able to use my right eye instead, but do tell me if there are other ways or if I could do it differently, any tips are super welcomed! This was my very simple, novice archery enthusiast thought process 😂 I think that’s all? 👀 FORGIVE ME for the papyrus, but I wanted to explain myself as best as I could, hope everything was clear enough. Hope there weren’t any typos, I’m italian-french so sometimes the neo-latin oriented brain I have pranks me… Thanks in advance! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad I came across your content I recently got my first recurve, your tips sure will help. Thanks for sharing and greetings from this small rural town somewhere in Mexico!
HI Tara are you able to make a video on how to aim , and to tighten your shots, I have a recurve 30# sometimes a get a group and other times my shots spread out, so its not always consistant.
Just getting started in traditional archery in my 50's so my son and I can do something together. I've done lots of equipment research and have everything I need (a few hundred buck later) but know little about the shooting basics. Looks like I'm in the right place! Thanks for providing "square one" tutorials. They're surprisingly difficult to find on TH-cam. Guess I have some binge watching to do... Subscribed!
I just found your channel. I have a question that I can't find real guidance on. I am right-handed/ right eye dominant. I have worn out my right shoulder from years in my line of work. I'm retired now. Can an old dog shoot left-handed?
Excellent video, all your lessons are good and help me get better in Archery. There's only one thing I don't agree with you about, the position of the 3 fingers, when I learned how to shoot the arrows the told me to put 1 finger over the tip of the arrow and the other 2 under the tip of the arrow, I see you always put the 3 fingers down the tip of the arrow.
I respect that! A lot of it comes down to personal preference. I used to shoot my olympic recurve bow split finger, but now I find it works well for my beginner classes to learn three under... for a few different reasons! As long as your consistent and having fun, it all works out the same! Have a great day!
@ArcheryHouse ok so you're telling me that both ways are correct as long as the person feels comfortable to practice it?, if it's that I now understand and it's more clear to me

Thanks Tara. I am not a young person but I am new to archery and your advice is very valuable to me. Thanks again. I will watch all your videos. Greetings from Europe.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a beginner. My goal this year is to learn as much as I can. I'm so glad I found your videos, you are an excellent instructor.

Good info!
Thank you!
0:34 I call that a square stance, whatever the name, it is a good stance for beginners.
You are correct! I teach closed and open stances - so I always say closed! LOL
Closed is the opposite of open, i.e. with your front foot forward of your rear foot. Not commonly used, but it's different from square.
Thx, Tara! Sage advice.
Thank you!

That’s great news! Happy Shooting!

Yes I can! Working on an aiming video!

Thank you for watching! That's awesome you found a hobby you and your son can enjoy together. It's a great family sport!
Thank you for your video.
I have a question:
What is the draw weight of your bow @28 ?
What is your maximum draw weight?
Thank you Tara
Is it normal to pluck the string? What is supposed to be happening between the string and fingers when you release?
I like to visualize my fingers just slipping off the string and gliding across my face and behind the ear!
Great info, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Someday I may even hot the yellow. Hope springs eternal for the tyro with a recurve ...
Just follow these 4 steps, and you will find the yellow! It also helps to put up a huge target at a close distance 😂
You are such a beautiful lady.
