I don't know why people are complaining about the score, a 7 is pretty high for Anthony's standards.
I know people are complaining that this got such of a high score.
Lmfao yes
bc he gives lil pump a 7 too
@@love_amiguel4129 damn people still upset about that?
@Obsidian YT the two 7's aren't comparable though. Pump received a seven for making a satisfyingly fun trap rap record, Eminem received a seven for creating a record that did rather well to recapture what made his first couple of albums so fantastic. It doesn't mean he thinks Lil Pump can rap better or anything like that, it just means that both albums did a relatively good job at what they were trying to accomplish. Different standards

Bad Guy is Eminem in beast mode
I like how it was a sequel to one of his greatest hits, Stan

i could only shake my head when he said he was struggling to assimilate and get into the character, personally i did completely, it took me as soon as i heard it, still love it to the day.
The last verse on Bad Guy was one of the best verses he's spit in a while
No not beast mode, regular-human mode.
"Legacy has a very basic rhyme scheme"
Eminem literally kept the same triple rhyme scheme throughout all 3 verses. Every line rhymes with each other.
True
My thought exactly! It was one of the better songs on the album too.
I think Fantano was talking about the chorus in particular. In which case he's right.
this is why this man's opinion over hip hop and music in general is personnally taken as seriously as my dog's barkings at his tail.

It's weird seeing him being excited for an eminem album
You seemed to not like the song Legacy because of the rhyming scheme. Here is a quote from Eminem
"I don’t know if anyone will get this, like this is super-nerdy, but the rhyming words in that song never change. And that’s just one of the things that I do to try to challenge myself. I wanted to try to make a whole song where the rhyming words never changed."

I personally like the album it's probably his most lyrically complex albums the only song I couldn't listen to was stronger than I was
Really? "Stronger Than I Was" is a really ingenious song.. The first two verses are Kim's response to "97' Bonnie & Clyde", "Kim" and "Puke".. and last verse is a mixture between both perspectives..
i liked the verse but i think he was singing for too long into the song
Efreezy Too Breezy
just like hailie's song . he sings for two verses then rap
his most lyrically complex? ever listened to SSLP? MMLP? TES?
No I've never heard of eminem before. This is the first album I've heard from him. But in all seriousness it depends on what you take as "lyrical". Being lyrical can have different meanings. In most songs being lyrical means have meaning in songs. In rap being lyrical can mean having different flows and showing off technicality in verses. I'm using the second meaning. So yes, using the second meaning I believe this is his most lyrical or technically complex album
i know this video old but relapse was far from lackluster, thats a cult classic

Relapse sucks bruh
Edit: I actually like Relapse I was just saying it sucks sarcastically cause Em said it sucks
@A A not his best beats, that's the Eminem show. Not the best rhymes, that's mmlp. Not the best flows, that's either mmlp2 or the Eminem show. I can agree with best atmosphere though.
@mysteriousgamer89 dude ever heard of an opinion? Some people don't like songs with the most weird and bad voices. I like relapse but it has trash songs and the accents ruin it.
@mysteriousgamer89 I really tried to give it a shot but I just can't bear the accents. Also some of the tracks would have been bad without the accents: I hate the beat on old time's sake, and on my mom and bagpipes from Baghdad, he sounds like he was forced to rap on must be the ganja, I liked 3 am until the he starts getting off topic (and the accent became worse with time), I only like the hook on insane, I hate the hook on medicine ball and we made you. The remaining 7 songs (hello, same song & dance, stay wide awake, deja Vu, crack a bottle, beautiful and underground (which is how the album should have sound and is amazing)) are great tracks which I love. It's probably my 7/8th favorite album by em.

Interesting (sincerely) how Fantano actually praises Em for his “unapologetically corny bars” in this review, yet condemns him for it in 2021. I guess he’s just fed up by the corn at this point, which is understandable. I personally enjoy some silly similes as long as they come from my good friend Marshall
I feel like Eminem never released Revival and Kamikaze, he’d appreciate MTBMB a lot more
Same I love em
Some people just have different tolerances for what they consider to be cringey, and go in and out of albums with certain expectations. Sometimes to make a point and discourage a trend, he'll lower certain album's cores when others who are less musically literate wouldn't have found an issue with them.
That’s because it’s just getting embarrassing now. Em is bad now. No substance, no point to his lyrics. Darkness” was a glimpse of genius that we all love from Em, but as a fan I have to be honest and honestly his flow and lyrics is tiresome anymore
“FED UP”?? By the “CORN”??? Bro is that a double?!

Best song on the album. Don't understand why he made it a bonus track
I'm so used to modern youtube that fantano dropping a gamer word actually shocked me
Came back to this review to realise how legitemately hurt and frustrated melon sounds about him now lmao. The negative reaction is fully warranted obviously but he talks about Eminem in such an appreciative and enthusiastic manner here lmao it's like Eminem broke his heart, the way he talks about him now in comparison
He claims to be a huge fan of "classic" Eminem. I think the album title gave him hope that his old idol would come back. This clearly not as good as the first one, but he still had a positive attitude because he thought this was just a "warm up" for what would come after, which would be Em back to his 1997-2003 form., When the awful bad and atrocious sounding Revival came out, he was clearly shocked. Then the mediocre and angry Kamikaze and MTBMB. You are right that he sounds extremely bitter. It's almost like he is heart-broken on a personal level that Em is not giving him another SSLP or MMLP. If you look at the anger of his Kamikaze review, when he talks about SSLP and MMLP, yoiu can clearly see in his eyes that it is more than just an album review. You can see in his eyes the look of betrayal. But we all need to let things go. Everyone ages and declines. It's the way it works. I still like Em for his flows, though.
@@petercoderch589 melon x eminem fanfiction
@@petercoderch589 Eminem has rapped about everything he can rap about, his flows are great, but his themes aren't. I miss when he used to rap and have passion, Darkness, although a song I won't listen to, is highly conceptual and I think he should make songs like that
Bad Guy(Stan part 2) was the best song in the alblum, hands down! ;D
yea, i completely agree, by far the best song... i did like the album quite a bit actually though.
'Stood next to the window, I peaked' Yeah I'm sure that's the best track
Zecariah Aden he said that in the perspective of Matthew Mitchell saying he had peeked on his hatred for Em and was ready to murder him, and on top of that he laughed after he said the line he was being corny on purpose
Groundhog Day.
The last verse was badass
This is actually my favorite Eminem album. All time. Yes. It makes you laugh, it makes you think, it makes you cry, it captures you with clever wordplay and speed. It has everything.
Bad Guy, Legacy and Headlights all brought me to tears. I don't think any other album has 3 songs that have that effect on me.
Bad Guy because of the epic final verse where he squares off against his own regrets and you realize just how aware he is of everything he's done wrong in his life
Legacy because I was bullied as a kid too and I've felt helpless like that, the female voice in the chorus was incredibly powerful. In the second and third verses he turns around his misfortune and turns his anger on his tormentors in a way that was so incredibly cathartic
Headlights because I never imagined he would pen a track about his mom in which he forgave her after so many negative songs about her throughout his career. Incredibly poignant.
Rap God was mindblowing in its talent and different flows and it's incredible fast pace for much of the 3rd verse.
Love Game was probably the funniest track when he talks about a dream within a dream within a dream where he's battling his gf all the way through and gets her to crash her car and the battle doesn't end there. His cartoonish description and punch lines reminds me of Brain Damage from Slim Shady LP and that's a good thing. Kendrick Lamar also taught me what it means for a guy to be a "Ferris Wheel" in his verse. This was my introduction to Kendrick. I enjoyed him here, def not my favorite sounding voice though.
So Far and Rhyme or Reason both sample classic rock tracks with Eminem singing his own variation on the classic hook. I liked the fusion between his rap and the original sample and thought the songs were very fun, clever and engaging.
I enjoyed Asshole and Brainless for being sharp, fun, clever, and very self-aware, classic Eminem to me.
Evil Twin was allright. Not my favorite but all right.
So Much Better was enjoyable to hear him be pissed at a woman again and just be straight mean-spirited again. That part of you that secretly likes to hear Eminem say kind of fucked up shit gets off on this one.
Survival is fiery and inspirational. That one gets me mega hyped.
I know there's stuff I missed too. But its like every track here is so hard hitting. That's why I actually believe it's his best. I loved his old stuff to death too but this album is just smarter and more complex and more versatile on so many levels. And it feels more complete to me than MMLP1 where the only track that can resonate with you emotionally might be Stan. MMLP1 to me was somewhat of a dirty, guilty pleasure. He was very technically sound and his rhymes, flows and the way the stuff was produced was on point, great cameos from a lot of other rappers. But also, still very immature and unapologetic and kind of adolescent. I loved it for what it was but didn't think of it as high art by any means (just listen to the chorus of "under the influence" and you'll see what I mean) I thought the Eminem Show was the first time he nailed it 100% where I was like "He did it! He got a perfect album!" This MMLP2 felt like he did it again.
billny33 Tbh only The Eminem Show is better. I agree that it's better than MMLP1 tho.

YoDawgoneeleven Yeexus leaked four days before it was released though.
you dont like legacy :(
Hook ruins the sound but no denying the lyrics...makes it worth dealing with.
He just rhymed the sky is falling all verses Although the lyrics were nice they could've been written better knowing Ems pen
Green that’s the point... rhyming the same scheme the entire song is more challenging, and subsequently more impressive when pulled off as nicely as it was on this. It was also used amazingly by him on the Slaughterhouse track Psychopath Killer and Guts Over Fear, both appearing on SHADYXV, but this song was able to use it in a narrative style track and for the most part it was a very well written track. The production isn’t that bad but it’s not great, and admittedly the female singing (I think it was by Paulina something I’m not sure) was mediocre, but his lyricism was well crafted. Also the way his voice is somewhat faded during the first half of the song before he finds his confidence when it stabilizes more is pretty creative and gives the track a whole new feel once you realize it. One of the best tracks on the album easily

Recovery was the best rap album of the year.
This was before Em murdered Melon's family and he still liked him
As far as this album goes, Bad Guy, Headlights & Evil Twin are the true jewels of MMLP2 & what make it out to be an amazing album.
Bad Guy involved all of his past fears coming back to kill him, no matter how much he tried "Recovering" from them in 2010. These fears are his inevitable career ending, empathy for those he offended as King of Controversy, death, & most importantly, Matthew (Stan's brother), who is arguably possessed by Stan himself & Slim Shady, Eminem's alter ego he tried killing after Encore & the drug overdose (not to mention many songs/skits/interludes Em made trying to kill this character). Eminem, knowing he's powerless against these Monsters he has created, chooses his limited time of life left in Matthew's trunk to show remorse for the sins he's committed throughout his career & give value to his legacy with the rest of the songs on the album.
--------------------
Headlights, with this song being the hardest for him to make involving apologizing to his mom, he ties the final loose end he’s had in his career before dying in the back of Matthew’s trunk in "Bad Guy". Instead of resisting, trying to fight his way through the trunk & save himself, he lets go of all insecurities knowing his final words were of kindness to his mother.
"And if the plane goes down, & the crew can't wake me up,
Just know that I'm alright, I AM NOT AFRAID TO DIE."
The drugs, the crazy behavior, the crude lyrics, his legal troubles, shitty relationships with ex & most of all, his mom, Eminem now no longer puts blame on Slim Shady for these mishaps. He finally takes responsibility for everything. With time running out before drowning, he accepts his fate & embraces death as if this were the last song he’s gonna end the album & his life with,….
--------------------
…until Slim Shady saves his life for Evil Twin. His remorse for the biggest sin on his conscience not only serves as a sacrifice, but allows Slim Shady, the presumably devilish side of Em that possesses him to be a “Bad Guy”, to change face & give him a second chance at life.
"Evil Twin, please come in. What was your name again?"
He says “please come in” to Slim, allowing him to take control, who in the 1st Slim Shady EP intro made his appearance quite forefully/violently in possessing Marshall’s body. This new acceptance shows that the bond Eminem & Shady have is no longer violent.
"Still Shady inside; hair every bit as dyed,
as it used to be, when I first introduced y'all to my skittish side,
& blamed it on him when they tried to criticize. CUZ WE ARE THE SAME."
He embraces his crazy side instead of just using Slim as a scapegoat for wild behavior. In conclusion, Eminem's demons no longer haunt him and he & Slim Shady are at peace for the first time.
afropick93 nah love game is the best song on the album, rhyme or reason is a close second

Colton Rogers I love loads of the songs on Recovery. Like "No Love" or "You're never Over"
What is it about "No Love" that you like? Frankly, I think it's one of Eminem's worst where neither rapper knew what they were even rapping about.
I notice this guy is a lot easier on certain artists. Like this dude didn't like the Eminem Show... He gave the MMLP2 a 7.. but he gave Drake's mixtape an 8... Drake's mixtape. An 8. I get it. Anthony's pretentious and Eminem isn't cool anymore. It's the popular thing to call Em corny and hate on his production. Anthony always compliments Em on his rapping skills yet.. I think Anthony forgets that rapping is THE most important part about Being a Rapper. So Drake's basic rhymes and similar sounding beats get praise yet Em's wide variety of sounds and technical lyricism is frowned upon?
Yeah he also gave the life of Pablo like 5 and fricking evol a 6

Eminem is a better rapper in the technical sense but Kanye makes better albums, is a much better producer and overall just a more creative and diverse musician, I know Fantano doesn't like Kanye but he's right about how Eminem has trouble with being immature.
Yeezus was a much better album because it wasn't filled with cringe-worthy poppy singing choruses and beats that sound like they were made by a 14-year-old in FL Studio.
Yeezus was terrible. It had maybe 3 good songs on it.Don't even give me that bullshit that it was "innovative" either. He done the same thing deathgrips has been doing.
"I got a problem yo, I was ecstatic to buy Yeezus, but I burned it first, heard it, and snapped it into 5 pieces, man Kanye's on that bullshit."
***** The comparisons are valid, one is a better rapper (Eminem) and one is an overall better artist (Kanye). People forget that Eminem also produces and mixes but it is not to the quality of Kanye at his best (MBDTF, Late Registration etc). So I don't see the problem with comparing them.
Yeezus was pretty bad, and while Eminem still has a kiddish personality (something I don't have problem with) which was highlighted in this review, so does Kanye. With his "Eating asian pussy with soy sauce" or whatever that BS was.
FlowArts I disliked tyler the creator well before Hopsin released Ill Mind 4. Some dick head at school who was a huge tyler fan, which thought Hopsin (all of FV), 2Pac, Biggie, Big L, and Eminem were garbage. But Tyler was his favorite? So I gave him a listen, he's garbage. one of the shittiest, most basic, boring flows I've ever heard as well.
MMLP2 has aged like a fine wine
"Hooks have never been Eminem's strongest point"
That's a lie. He used to have some of the best hooks - I mean, three standout rap hooks ever = "The Way I Am", "Lose Yourself" and "Without Me". How can you say the guy who made those hooks isn't good at hooks.
no, eminem is pretty bad at hooks, hes more of a freestyle guy. Also THE WAY I AM hook is sampled....
@@_bofu No he isn't lol. It's an interpolation yeah but he totally changed the delivery of it - what about Lose Yourself? he literally wrote one of the biggest hooks in hip-hop history. Also let's look at - White America, Cleanin' Out My Closet, Criminal, Kill You, Mosh, 8 Mile Road, The Real Slim Shady, Business... you think these are bad hooks? He isn't a freestyle guy, he used to be a brilliant songwriter. Still is, just not as good.
How can you mention Without Me without mentioning it’s two parents: My Name Is and The Real Slim Shady
@@chaoticprogress you are correct but he definitely isn't as good as he used to at hooks like if we talk about verses he honestly sometimes still delivers but with hooks at this point of his carrer are his worst quality

I loved the album, his flows were crazy, he brought some different rhyme schemes (the one on Legacy was crazy cause he carried it through three verses), and his bars were on another level. The deluxe edition added to the craziness, songs like Baby, Groundhog Day and Wicked Ways were just off the chain. I'd give it an 8.5, maybe 9.

No, stop it. Relapse was better, seriously........
I enjoyed Relapse, not fucking with Recovery tough. MMLP1 is his best next to The Eminem Show.
***** Relapse was alright. If you include Refill as part of relapse, it was AMAZING. Seriuosly, why does no one mention Refill? It's fucking incredible.
Dear Needledrop, considering you say at the start that this album pretty much stands up to the hype, I'm 10 minutes through and all I've heard is an awful lot of criticism. Draw out some of the positives dude. It's a sick album and in my opinion his best since the Eminem Show.

Strong tracks: Rhyme or Reason, Bad guy, So far, Love game, Evil twin.
Weak tracks: Berzerk, Survival.
But the funny thing is I disliked this album at first and thought it was his worst album, but after carefully listening to it I realise it's a masterpiece.
At first i was kind of sceptical about the LP since the singles werent that great... but looking back at Eminems output, he usually tends to release the great songs on the album instead of showing the best as his lead singles.. and mMLP2 hit me like a bomb.. personally stronger than I was blew me away, not because of the singing.. but this track and headlights really point out the way he has grown since MMLP1, he managed to put out an album which gave not a single shit about the current hip hop game, took it back to his prime, plus experimenting with different genres.... I am impressed ...
People nowadays judge too quickly, you need to listen to this album more than once and actually listen to what he is saying. This is why Hip-Hop is at a very low point at the moment.
THIS IS WHY EMINEM AND HIS FANS GET SO MUCH SHIT. JUST STOP.
Hip hop was at a very low point last decade but if you heard some of the underground movements you would see it is slowly reviving again.
How is hip hop at a low point exactly? Run The Jewels, Danny Brown, A$AP, Chance the Rapper, Kendrick friggin Lamar, Death Grips, Flatbush Zombies, Young Fathers etc are all doing really exciting things for Hip Hop right now!
Stephen Butchard
Kendrick Lamar is so fucking over rated
ll-nerv-ll goddamn i seriously thought i was the only one, we are an endangered species brotha
I love when Fantano talks about "Lose Yourself" and he spazes like a 13 year-old fangirl "Oh my God!"
i like that the song is true to the name and is all Marshall Mathers. The eminem persona gets killed in Bad Guy, then Slim Shady gets killed in the skit, and then it's all Marshall...
I hope hip hop's done with multiple personalities though. Tyler, the Creator kind of drove it into the ground.
do you think hopsin does the multiple personalities thing justice?
Never really thought about that, but that's actually a really cool and accurate way of putting it
Kendrick, J Dilla, MF Doom, Dabrye, GhostfaceKillah, and OH no also have multiple personalities as rappers and or producers.
Hey! Fuck you! You see my fucking profile picture? That is Tyler the fucking goat! Tyler is number fucking one and above... now that I thought of wolf Haley you may be correct
Flower Boy stfu
I love that this album has a lot of rap nerd references. Eminem mentions or pays homage to Pharaoh Monch, A Tribe Called Quest, Third Bass, Leaders Of The New School, Black Moon, Lakim Shabazz... etc. You gotta respect the fact that Em is still passionate and cares about the craft of emceeing. Tracks like Bad Guy, Rhyme Or Reason, Rap God, Brainless, Evil Twin, and the bonus track Don't Front are examples of that. Mainstream albums that have all this are far and few these days. Lil Wayne has gone retarded
Kanye is making weird music that doesn't sound like hip hop
DMX has become a crack head
Jay Z has become lazy
Drake is a soft singer.
Eminem is still a true emcee whether you like his music or not
andrew flores this aged well, Jay z and kanye putting out great albums still
j c I’m not a huge of jay z rn tbh and Kanye released some pretty trash (but funny) songs in the last few years. However, ‘ye’ and ‘kids see ghost’ were pretty good
Kanye is still real good
And then 4.44 came out.
New lil wayne album had pretty solid tracks on it
Eminem albums in order of greatness
1. The Marshall Mathers LP
2. The Slim Shady LP
3. The Eminem Show (could be 2)
4. The Marshall Mathers LP 2
5. Relapse
6. Encore
7. Infinite
8. Recovery
anyone thinking recovery is better than relapse needs to really re-evaluate their choice of genre
I would consider Infinite to be his best work, because it was easily his most genuine work. Anything after The Marshall Mathers LP is pretty mediocre if you ask me (including MM LP 2).
all because tyler the creator says relapse was good, doesnt mean its the truth for everyone. Fuck relapse, Recovery is better. IMO Recovery is even better than this. In recovery, he wasnt trying to re-invent his old shit, he raps of shit thats going on. In MMLP2 he keeps trying to recreate his magic.
Relapse is no. 1
Wow, very close to my list! I would put Relapse over MMLP2, but that's pretty much it :)
orr971 Relapse is incredible, fuck yes! :)
Not even trying to troll, but I don't... really see what all of the Eminem hype is about. Lyrically, he's a dragon slayer, flow wise as well, and he's definitely earned his place in the game. But people will automatically just hold him above ALL other rappers, not even considering their skill.
In terms of this album? Personally, I disliked it. Sounded... kind of weird to me. Maybe I'll give a few listens later... but idk, it just seemed kind of lackluster to me. Not full Eminem.
Okay, forget the "not full Eminem" part. Just felt lackluster. Had to clear that up 😁
Yes, I don't like the album. Should have been more specific, I didn't like the ENTIRE album mostly because of the beats and a few of the collaborations. Sorry about that.
Ashton Hepburn people do the same thing with 2pac who I think is one of the most overrated rappers of all time
TheAz943 For sure.
Did he really call Recovery a lackluster LP? WHAT?
Cant believe that. One of the best Eminem albums in my opinion.
snakedoctor2111 its obviously terrible. He only wrote it and put it out because Relapse was total shit.
terry Chapman Recovery was his fourth best. It was something different. Encore, Relapse and MMLP2 are just him being a parody of his former self.
Mark Fraser His best in order are, Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Marshall Mathers LP 2, Relapse, Encore, Recovery and Infinite.
We are all entitled to our opinion I guess. My list:
1) Eminem Show
2) MMLP
3) SSLP
4) Recovery
5) MMLP2
6) Encore
7) Relapse
8) Infinite

^Exactly. Dude got us all excited for nothing, just more commercial bullshit for the radio. Fucking sellout.
I listened to it twice. Its SHIT. I listen to a lot of music. This was one of the most disappointing albums of the year. LISTEN TO IT YOURSELF. Just because someone else said it was good doesn't mean it's good. Most people in the world are ignorant anyway.
The last verse of Bad guy is amazing. I didn't really care for So much better, Stronger than i was or The Monster but the rest is really good. Can't believe this album is 7 years old!
Infinite: 7/10 - Very lyrical and well thought out album, but lacked character.
SSLP - 9.5/10 - A true classic. Each song is perfectly crafted and never gets old to listen to.
MMLP - 9.5/10 - Another amazing album. Much more grittier than SSLP but equally as good.
The Eminem Show - 9/10 - Great Album with elements from both SSLP and MMLP.
Encore - 5/10 - Had a few good songs, but most of the tracks were terrible.
Relapse - 8/10 - Eminem's return to the game. Very underrated album. Reminded me a lot of SSLP.
Recovery - 8/10 - Another underrated album. Much more emotional than Relapse, but equally as good.
MMLP2 - 7/10 - Good Album but was left disappointed. There were some good songs but I just expected a little more from Em.

@@NikhilSingh-oe6iq an overhated album can't be a classic
Y'all gotta stop vulgarizing the word "classic". A classic is a widely praised album, being high regarded both by the critics and the fans, almost consensually. Also, it has to be impactful and influence a significant number of artists within the culture. College dropout, MMLP, Only God Can Judge Me, To Pimp a Butterfly, Reasonable Doubt etc. are some examples of classics. MMLP2 is a good record but it doesn't fall into the category of a classic, imo.

Finally one person that understand this great album. People hating on this probably are the same that love recovery.
Eminem did something different in this, and he mixed a lot of styles that makes this very interesting.
1:13 imma pretend I didn't hear that
Wow I bet all you people who are saying this album sucks only just skimmed through it or only listened to the singles. This is the best Eminem album since TES. 7/10
As a whole it's a great album. It really isn't lacking anything.
Wordplay, similes, metaphors, double/triple entendres, great internal rhyme, external rhyme, mosaic rhyming, awesome multisyllabic rhyming as usual, lots of refreshing subject matter as well. This is Em's most self aware album to date. The album is fucking genius because it shares many of the same themes as the first MMLP but it is also the bi-polar opposite to its' predecessor. The MMLP Em was enraged, angry, saying "fuck you" to critics and saying whatever he wanted. Whenever people tried to point fingers at him he just blamed Shady. But from the songs Bad Guy, Asshole, Evil Twin, etc. we see Em coming to terms with himself completely taking responsibility for his actions. Admitting that the hate he spewed was a result of the bullies he endured throughout his life and... involuntarily through this self therapy (which he calls music) he himself became the "bully" in the process. It's this kind of self acknowledgement that makes Em a genius. He pretty much admits Marshall and Slim are one in the same. That takes balls. To do that and forgive/apologize his mother after ripping on her for sooo long is insane. The MMLP2 is really the perfect final chapter for Em. Even the track Stronger Than I Was plays as a great opposite to the track Kim of the original MMLP. The MMLP2 really doesn't get enough credit.
wasnt feeling the album first listen, but ive listened 3/4 more times, and its definitly growing on me, solid album, easily his best album since the eminem show !!!
It's best if you get the deluxe edition where you get 5 bonus tracks that should've replaced certain songs on the 'actual' album. I personally hate the rock and oldies sampled beats..too Kid Rock-esque...they are beats that IMO no one other than eminem coulda rapped over. Lyrically he was still A+, but I really wish i could've heard more beats like Bad Guy, Rap God and especially Groundhog Day. Wish Dre had some beats on this album, Dre's beats on MMLP made it the classic it was. Either way i'd give this a Solid 8, basically because Eminems beat choice doesnt change the fact that he's still A+ on lyrics and flow.
Man, Groundhog Day is the SHIT
Yep, one of the best eminem tracks ever IMO...
Bobby Lawson
Yup. The song has the same rhyme structure for 2 and a half verses. Then he switches the style with this AWESOME part:
Promisin' complete dominance, Sugar Ray Robinson
I'm in a league Muhammad's in, Ali's my colleague bombing 'em
Probably end up on top of 'em, stomping 'em like Ndamukong
I'm Russian like a Ukrainian, LaDainian Tomlinson
Flow vomits in your face, competitors fall at my waist
You spit a rhyme, I spit in a rhyme's face
Sameh M I almost snatched my headphones off and threw them when he said "Probably end up on top of 'em, stomping 'em like Ndamukong
I'm Russian like a Ukrainian, LaDainian Tomlinson" lol. I was like WHAT?!?!? Dude is a beast
I listened to the deluxe version all the way through, I really hated stronger than I was but all in all I was blown away by how lyrically incredible he still is. Id give it an 8 or 9.
Eminem's flow is consistently good on all of his albums. I call it this way:
SSLP: 8/10 (banging commercial debut)
MMLP: 9/10 (amazing stories)
The Eminem Show: 9.5/10 (tracks like Drips prevented its 10)
Encore: 4/10 (what the fuck? Big Weenie lol)
Relapse: 6/10 (aight better than Encode by a lot)
Recovery: 8/10 (evolved Eminem shows here beyond his pop sound)
MMLP2: 8/10 (underestimated by some, great flows and cohesive)
I agree. but I'd give MMLP and SSLP higher ratings by 1
+Covert Gummy I still really do think The Eminem Show is Eminem's best work and the MMLP, while great, just doesn't do it for me compared to TES. SSLP isn't as cohesive as I'd like for it to have been.
Eron Constante I personally felt like TES had too many corny bars, and songs like Drips and Say What You Say (Had terrible Hooks) Just made it worse. But White America, Square Dance, and Business held it up for me. TES was in my opinion the greatest rap/rock album to ever be released, but didn't feel as clever and smooth as MMLP
I agree with you on White America, Square Dance, and Business to be great tracks. Til I Collapse in my mind is undoubtedly his best banger track. Ever. Period.
Drips just killed the 10 potential for the album though I agree with that.
+Eron Constante Why do people hate Drips?
Em's albums have always been filled with high highs and low downs for me. Bad Guy is one of my all time favs songs. Legacy is almost unlistenable to me. Funny how he gave a shoutout to Phife because ATCQ is a great example of a group that has albums with tracks that are consistently good. It's impossible for me to listen to an Em album without at least one or two skips.
So I believe the score is super fair. Stans need to sit back for a little and be honest with themselves... would you really give every single track a 10/10 on this album?
I like all the tracks except stronger than I was and desperation
Honestly.......this was honestly the last great album Em put out. The flows, and wordplay still hit so hard almost 10 years later.
Hard agree. If his 2014-2023 run is strick from the record, he'd be top 5
@@egagnardbro alot of people be sayin that shit cuz of revival, from 2014-2016 Em's features were all dope asf, yea revival was bad with some good tracks, then u have kamikaze which has bangers, but as a whole album it would be like a 6 for me, then mtbmb both sides which were dope asf and I'll guarantee u it'll have the same relapse treatment and it'll be a cult classic, so having one bad album in those 10 years got him out of ur top 5 lol
@@taha2472 people will never recognize him as the goat til he is gone.
i imagine if pitchfork gave this album like an 8 then everyone would be complaining that he didn't give it a high enough score hehe
I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here, but I actually like this album better than the first MMLP. While very little on here matches up to the entire first half of MMLP1, it just feels more consistent in terms of quality and only slows down once Stronger Than I Was kicks in before finally gaining back some momentum with So Far. With MMLP1, the second half of the album just feels weaker to me compared to the first half, which contains classics like "Stan", "The Real Slim Shady", and "The Way I Am" as well as solid tracks like "Kill You", "Remember Me?", and "I'm Back". The only standout tracks to me after the awful Ken Kaniff skit were "Kim" and "Criminal". "Drug Ballad", "Amityville", and "Bitch Please II" (while decent standalone stracks) just don't work for me in context of the album, while "Under the Influence" feels shoehorned in to feature D12. With MMLP2, there was no time wasted and every track feels like it belongs on the album (except for Stronger Than I Was). In the end, none of the individual songs are replacing his classics any time soon, but as a listening experience from beginning to end, MMLP2 is very well constructed and rarely loses momentum. 9/10
Also, my list on how I rate his albums:
Marshall Mathers LP (9.5/10)
Marshall Mathers LP 2 (9/10)
Slim Shady LP (8.5/10)
The Eminem Show (8/10)
Recovery (6.5/10)
Relapse (4/10)
Encore (0.5/10)
EDIT: Had a change of heart and decided the original will always be better objectively. I still think MMLP2 is as good as I made it out to be, but I was being too harsh on those out-of-place moments on MMLP1.
MMLP 2 is not well constructed at all. Survival, and stronger than i was do not belong on this album at all. The production was not very good on top of that. MMLP is superior to this album and they should not be put in the same sentence when it comes to which is better. I did enjoy MMLP2, but your delusional if you believe mmlp2 was better then mmlp, TES , and sslp.
Zin Skymerald why did you rate encore so low?
Sergant Kornballz His lyrics were terrible, the humour was juvenile and immature, and his flow was completely stilted. It's like he tried to create bouncy and intricate lyrics like he did before, but something cracked and it just came across as a sloppy mess. It's perhaps the worst album ever released by a great rapper who's capable of doing much better.
