  • I bought this washer used. Worked great for a month or so then started banging around really bad. Replaced all the suspension rods and corner springs. Not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.

      If anything on running a Washer with the Lid open, it would rather be to just see the action.
      If any Hands go in the Washer, while the Lid is open, it’s best to stop it first by taking the Latch off the Lid Switch/Lid Lock Mechanism or pushing the Timer Knob/pushing the Pause Button or cancelling the Cycle & waiting for it to stop completely before doing so.

      Very interesting Tony! Thanks for your input. I’m a pretty experienced DIYer but have never heard of this balance ring. Do most all machines have this ring, or only certain brands? Any added info greatly appreciated.
      I know those seemingly out of balance conditions can really shorten bearing life.

    • @Enigmaculate
      @Enigmaculate 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@elevatorproductionsbymaxpassa, Actually you're completely wrong on that part. Every washing machine that has the hanging suspension isn't " garbage ". Tell me one time where either GE, Maytag, Frigidaire, or Whirlpool had recalls for suspension systems breaking, exactly, NONE. Even if there have been incidents like that, it's either due to consumer error, or a manufacturing defect. Samsung is notorious for making extremely cheap suspension rods on their washers that had got recalled not too long ago, and LG had similar issues with their washers as well. So if you want to point out companies that has (in the past) made washing machines with cheaply made suspension systems, look no further than Samsung and LG, and these are two companies that are based in Korea and mainly manufacture mobile devices. Oh, and speaking of Samsung, they've had a plethora of terrible issues with a large majority of their appliances, not just some of their washing machines, they've had MAJOR issues with their refrigerators, microwaves, smartphones, and heck, even some of their dryers. Also, Speed Queen washers may be built to last, but that's not a license for anyone to just abuse the heck out of a washing machine, and the suspension setup that Speed Queen has isn't infallible at all, nothing in this universe is infallible to exact. Those " heavy-duty springs " can become rusted over-time and the hook end part of one of the springs can break off, or the connector hole for the spring hook can become worn from rust and fade away over the years. Just because a washing machine is built to last for many years, that doesn't mean that it's a machine that's impervious to wear and tear. It may be more resistant to wear and tear compared to lower end washers, but at the end of the day, it has a limited lifespan, just like all other washing machines (old-school or modern), it just has a longer lifespan. However, any washing can last a very long time if it's built right, AND if it's used properly and not abused. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Speed Queen isn't the only option to get for a washing machine. You make it sound like it's super easy to just go out and buy a Speed Queen washing machine. I'm sure you're well aware of how much these washers cost, you're talking about spending $1000+ bucks plus taxes included (and shipping & handling, depending on the company if you order online). Unless you have a {upper} five, six or seven figure income, you're probably not going to have $1000+ bucks sittin' in the bank account, especially when there's important bills to pay EVERY MONTH, food to put on the table EVERY MONTH, and house supplies and personal care products to buy EVERY MONTH, and even that's not scratching the surface of the costs of living. Now, if I had to recommend any washing machine brand to anyone, it would either be GE, or Speed Queen. The reason why I said GE is because their auto-balancing suspension actually works, and due to the suspension system being flexible, it's able to nullify any tension and/or stress from unbalanced loads by being able to freely float forward, backward, up, down, left, and right. GEs high-end top-loading smart dispense washing machine is the best of GEs current washing machines, it has dynamic balancing technology, a direct drive motor (which is far more reliable than the belt-driven motors of today), and anti-vibration technology [which slows the final spin speed down to a medium low spin speed for the remainder of the final spin cycle if there's too much vibration when the washer spins to high speed], and the wash action is very aggressive for a HE washer, and it actually scrubs your clothes clean, regardless of the water level. This guy's washer on the other hand was probably abused and eventually called it quits, even the ring was messed up. The reason why I even took the time out to type this comment is to convey one simple message, " _One apple may be rotten, but don't assume that every apple tree is rotten just because you had one bad apple_ ".

    It scares me every time it happens because its so loud and its very embarrassing when I'm using it, even though its been a very rare case that it would happen, I've been getting very scared and paranoid to where I would close my ears every time it would start to rotating because I've had moments of that happening out of the blue when not expected sometimes and its very loud and scarey and very embarrassing because I always worry about getting something said about it and possible blame for any failures of it happening to it and being at the same time that I'm going to have to be going to go and try to set it right even though it would sometimes do that even when I've put the load in very carefully right at times which were the very unexpected times, so you see washer machines are and can be very fragile things to work with so I'd be very careful with them if I were you, because you may never know what to expect with washer machines because they can get and be very weird at times sometimes.

      Balance ring can be a bitch to change .

    • @RecklessTheory
      @RecklessTheory 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is a disc cap under the agitator called a basket drive that secures it to bottom tub. For whatever reason Whirlpool/maytag changed it from metal to plastic. But since a metal gear sits inside against this plastic cap then any off balance load starts to strip it out. the more stripped out it gets the worse the shaking. You can replace this cap with a metal one and it won't shake anymore.
