Great car! Two things to be careful with: 1. The ESC goes into Low Volt Cutoff very low at about 6.3v. 2. The thermal cutoff does not seem to work. During hard grass bashing, I heard a "pop" and the ESC let it's smoke out. The plastic was melted and the heatsink was hot enough to fry a pork chop. The temp cutoff should have not let it get hot enough to melt.

That's actually a 550 brushed motor... Awesome litte big car. We been running one for a year, can't complain... Have 5T brushless system and new radio waiting but the thing hasn't broken yet. I've had to tighten turnbuckles for alignment. It's a favorite in our pack. We dismantled and lubed pre-use.
the brushless one is faster than the HYPERGO brushless 4x4 truck. I own both using 3S lipo 2200mah. I clocked the HYPERGO on my GNSS GPS ran 42mph on 3S. The WLTOYS have not gps yet but it will walk by the HYPERGO side by side!
My friend bought me this for my bday ( he lives across the country) and I had no idea what I was walking into since I've been out of the RC car game for aaaages. I had a RC10 B3 that had some slight upgrades, so some pre-assembled thing? Expected it to be just ok. Uhh, this thing is better built, faster has 4W drive and I'm blown away. My old car cost something like ...$150 just for the frame which didn't come assembled, I think it had the motor? But no servo or speed control, receiver, controller, etc. So it was another $70 for an electronic speed control and IDK how much for the servos since I think I just used one my brother had from the early 90s that he had in his King Cab. So for $130 for something that's this fast and ...pretty damn durable? I'm blown away. My first crash with the old B3 destroyed the shocktower because- naturally they made it out of graphite for some bloody reason. My first crash with this car broke 1 of the arm joints that took 5 minutes to replace.
This drivetrain has been made into a hundred different cars...Helion Dominus, FS Maruader 53910 and several more. It is SOLID AS A ROCK !! With a brushless system they are bad ass !!

Yo 10th scale!! I've had two of them, ran them into the ground. The A959 was the first "star" of WLToys company. Primarily sold thru Banggood and Amazon, then in September last year the 144001 came out, I bought one of the 1st issued. Solid vehicle, I personally had alot of probs and just ran out of 💰 money!! I sold both off them a couple months ago, AND I'm kicking myself for it. Might have to go round 3, but, SO MANY cars.... so little cash and time..... 😲☑️💯
Yea. Only prob I have with low budget rc’s like this is they have no slipper or center diff. So you can forget bashing. All that shock and sudden acceleration off the jumps go straight to the spur and strip it out and likely is a pain to access to remove. Like who really wants to drive a buggy or monster truck in the parking lot
Yeah. I haven’t driven it in a parking lot since. The thing is less than $150. You gotta save money somewhere. I have yet to strip a spurr. Not landing on throttle helps a lot.
so whats the solution for the diff getting clicky? That grinding noise.... is that something you have to replace parts on or do anything to... or it just goes away?
If I have to put up that buggy to go up against another 1/14 4wd buggy, it would be the 1/14 Tacon Soar Buggy 4WD from NitroRcx. They both look very identical
The Tacon Soar is a rebranded LC Racing emb-1. The 144001 is a knock off of those cars. I had a 144001 for a few months. It was fun at first but then the rear diff went and then the arms and spindles kept breaking. Got tired of waiting forever for replacement parts so I eventually sold it. BTW lots of the LC Racing replacement parts fit the 144001. But I'd definitely buy an actual lc racing or tacon soar before I buy a other 144001.
Omg thanks to you I got the car about 4 months ago I forgot to tell you. Also the wltoys company is so good that am getting the wltoys 12824 with a 70% discount simply bc we bought this one with a 3 year plan omg this company is insanely good.
Diff dont last more than two good use days and are a lil hard to get from china , best thing to do is put some ticker diff oil when they are brand new. Mine melted the plastic fan inside the motor from running too long on grass , replaced it with Arrma 550 , metal gears , etc.
6 months in ..... After buying the second gen. axle stubs that are 2mm longer so the wheels stay on, I thought we’re good. Then.... bent or damaged parts; both shock towers, chassis (although just slightly), both front shock shafts, left front axle (dogbone end). Broken parts, rear wing, rear wing mount, left front a-arm, left front steering knuckle. One high speed cartwheel crash did all this damage, but 3 wheels did stay with the car. Compare that to a couple bent shock shafts on my oldest Slash 2WD that has done maybe a hundred cart wheels in 20-25 years. Chinese Junk.
It's great but get a lot of spares. It's waaay too fast for the chassis :D so far had a bent front left shock and had screws forced out of one of the steering joints, which I've upgraded to be metal. The fact spares are easy to get and relatively cheap is great though!
Good stuff brotha! Love that lil thing too. I also got into the Tacon line, which is just like these but brushless out da box! Would be great to see a truggy version.
There are some pretty decent upgrade parts available for them too....metal diff and stuff like that...kind of like to see if it would be worth upgrading to brushless
You need 4 AA batteries for the transmitter, and yes, you can charge the LiPo via USB, but it will take forever. You can’t get a decent hobby grade charger for around $25. That will decrease the charge time by a huge margin.
Awesome vid guys, I just buy my first rc car and it was actually this from your link, excited to get those lipos with it lol thanks and keep doing what you’re doing 🙌🏻
Because why wouldnt you... if you want to play with an rc and dont give a blank if it breaks then you have one of the best bangs for your buck out there no doubt about it.... I still haven't gotten one and I still need too before they all sell out they are incredibly cheap and faster than what you need for a first rc tho it's easily cheap enough to be many people's first and favorite
Is it suitable to use on the beach? Or is it more of a tarmac car? I have absolutely no idea about RC cars and I might buy this one as my first excursion into RC world
I am buying an R/C car! It is between this one or the Traxxas 1/18 teton because I want to keep the car small so I can fit it in a backpack. Which one is better? This video was very informative. If I buy the WLTOYS 144001 it will be because of this video.
144001 is faster and has wayyyy more metal bits and upgrades available. The tenton has better OEM support. I personally prefer the 144001. I have the LaTrax Rally and I drive the 144001 more.

Would it be worth buying this car or a brushless for my bandit and upgrade it to being a 60/70mph+ build?
Thats up to you!
I have an upgraded one that does 60 ish
Epic!
HI, i bought two 144001 a few weeks ago. Already i have burned both motors running on short grass. Is this normal and what can i do?
I've got one and I Love it 😀 think its a fantastic Buggy for the Money. Great testing and a great video Guys 👍🇬🇧🥰🇺🇲👍
Awesome! Thank you!!
Omg thanks to you I got the car about 4 months ago I forgot to tell you. Also the wltoys company is so good that am getting the wltoys 12824 with a 70% discount simply bc we bought this one with a 3 year plan omg this company is insanely good.
Right on! I’m glad you’re digging it!
Hi, i would like to ask you, does this car has thermal protection? Im really afraid of overheating.
Diff dont last more than two good use days and are a lil hard to get from china , best thing to do is put some ticker diff oil when they are brand new. Mine melted the plastic fan inside the motor from running too long on grass , replaced it with Arrma 550 , metal gears , etc.
Yeah. We greased the diffs after the first three battery packs.
This one has been pretty solid so far!
Ever figure out the clicking? Cool video.
Just wanna ask.. If i play 144001 on sand.. Does sand goes in the motor and make trouble sound? How to fix?
30 mph with 2s and brushed out of the box is amazing!
That’s what I thought
It´s an extremely popular RC right now, I need to get one for myself eventually. Nice hat btw.
Whoop! Thanks!
I will check it out
@Bill Perri It is very cool, called the tacon Bulwark, super cool truggy.
I got a X-Max I might get this for some fun back yard bashing, You need a open field for the X
For real. I have the outcast 8S and you need a biiigg empty space for it.
wltoys makes great budget rc's and it's very customizable
Totally.
Can it drive on dirt or sand? And I luv your videos guys. Im watching this channel for 5h, very good content!! :)
There are some pretty decent upgrade parts available for them too....metal diff and stuff like that...kind of like to see if it would be worth upgrading to brushless
I’ve got something epic coming for it….
Can I know the type of battery connector used in this car? Can you recommend a battery for longer running time.
Deans connectors. The stock battery tray is pretty small, so I’d recommend just getting a few more 1500 mah 2S lipos.
Pretty quick, but not the 60km/h (48mph) advertised everywhere they sell it. Still, looks like a pretty good bang for the buck.
Nope, but 30+ is dang quick for a 14th scale.
I just ordered one but im gonna upgrade all the electronics in it when i get it...
Do you need batteries or can you charge it with usb or sum
You need 4 AA batteries for the transmitter, and yes, you can charge the LiPo via USB, but it will take forever. You can’t get a decent hobby grade charger for around $25. That will decrease the charge time by a huge margin.
Hi. Incase a part breaks, like maybe shocks or whatever, are there spare parts that fits and compatible in the market? And are they easy to get?
Yup!
These are great for the price...i bought four. One for standard, others for Mods..
That’s the way to do it!

Awesome vid guys, I just buy my first rc car and it was actually this from your link, excited to get those lipos with it lol thanks and keep doing what you’re doing 🙌🏻
Looks cool, I'm sold, thanks bro !
No problemo
That looks exactly like my LC Racing EMB 01, though I never had problems with the diff on it. And I ran like 50 batteries through it.
Yeah, there are a ton of clones.
@@10thScaleGarage As Far as I know, LC Racing are the original designers.
How long did it take to arrive for you?
Because why wouldnt you... if you want to play with an rc and dont give a blank if it breaks then you have one of the best bangs for your buck out there no doubt about it.... I still haven't gotten one and I still need too before they all sell out they are incredibly cheap and faster than what you need for a first rc tho it's easily cheap enough to be many people's first and favorite
Well said. It’s wayyyy faster and cheaper than my first RC back in the day.
I just bought one. It is arriving tomorrow
Is it suitable to use on the beach? Or is it more of a tarmac car? I have absolutely no idea about RC cars and I might buy this one as my first excursion into RC world
sand is hard on RCs. i have one that i strictly use for sand.
Welcome to the club. And that's a 550 motor.
Nice catch! Apparently I’m the last one in the club!
Why haven't I come across your channel before??!!? Sweet videos brother.
I’m still new to the TH-cam game.
I know its been a year now, how's the RC? Still running good?
Yup! We run it quite a bit. Had to replace the drive shaft a few months ago but it was super easy.
My GF really wants this car, and I think want one too, seems like a fun little car and the price isn't bad.
Nope! I totally recommend it. Especially if your GF wants to get one. If she supports your addiction, you’ve got a winner.
@@10thScaleGarage I'm definitely looking forward to tearing up some gravel together. :D
ZOP Power 2200mah, 35C , is a perfect fit battery upgrade .
I’ve got some florion batteries that are 35c
I am buying an R/C car! It is between this one or the Traxxas 1/18 teton because I want to keep the car small so I can fit it in a backpack. Which one is better? This video was very informative. If I buy the WLTOYS 144001 it will be because of this video.
144001 is faster and has wayyyy more metal bits and upgrades available. The tenton has better OEM support. I personally prefer the 144001. I have the LaTrax Rally and I drive the 144001 more.
THATS PERTY SIC! I BOUGHT MY DAUGHTER THE REMO ROCKET, BUT THAT LOOKS A STEP ABOVE. I LIKE IT I DO. THANKS FOR NUTHER GR8 VIDEO!!!
Glad you like it! i had the Remo SMAX back in the day. Loved it.
Looks cool, do they come in bigger scaales ???
Yup. They come in 12th scale also. Check out my video.
I just got mine but the throttle is reversed so as I pull the trigger the car reverses and as I push the trigger forwards the car goes fowards
Flip the wires on the motor around. You’re welcome.
I actually prefer that wltoys radio over the stx 2 that came with my arrma granite
haha. Me too!
Destroyed my rear diff in weeks. Got new gears and greased. Lasting very long niw
Yeah. Mine had zero grease. Fixed that issue after this video.
Same here. Mine had grease in it but still wore out in the first few days
