lol yea I have to enjoy the old drones because wife won’t sign off on anything new for a while. Buddy, I like all your videos. I haven't updated mine for 2 years! I haven't even flown this year. I've just been busy. I know that's no excuse, but it's all I have.😂 thanks for a great video. We love retirement and our motorhome. Being a snowbird is fun. But when we traveled across America twice, it was a lot more fun. I'm just getting to the point where driving is boring. And warm weather is much more enjoyable. North in the summer South in the winter. This summer, we had colder weather in Washington State.

Even though my M2EA is what I fly the most and the M30T is my most capable platform, I'm still quite impressed with these small buggers... Therye pretty useful for a quick and discrete daylight closeup of some subjects! 😄

That flickering on the homepoint updated is definitely a glitch too , I updated mine and it was jumping like that too, I thought I had a dodgy connection or something but now I know it’s to do with the update! lol I thought I had a bad connection, too. That was weird but after it did it a few times I started thinking maybe there’s something more to it. Awesome! Thanks so much for your comment, buddy. I totally agree with you. If it works, leave it alone. We have another mini 2 we call Jack that’s still on the 1.4.8 update from 2021 and it still flies perfect. Matter of fact, he’ll be making an appearance on a special video for Wednesday. Hopefully we’ll get back on our normal schedule next week. We’ve had some reviews to do and it always messes us up.
I haven’t done any updates as yet. It’s all working as it should so I don’t want to spoil things. What is the little black box thing on top of the drone, what is it’s function ?
Definitely a wise decision. Lol. I haven’t flown the mini 2 since this update because I don’t wanna take a chance of it getting confused with those speeds listed. Really weird. I’ve been “patiently” waiting on another update to fix this but I guess DJI is taking their time for once. Also, that’s a remote ID module on top of the drone. It’s something the FAA has started requiring so they can track drones in flight. It’s like a digital license late for the drone.
With those speeds, you should drag race Rose and Jack...lol. I saw, on a Facebook group, some folks were getting glitches with the app update, others weren't. DJI must have rushed updates, with the NEO release. Good Luck on the upcoming retirement!
Hahaha. Rose would probably win because Jack is still on the 1.4.8 update. He’s still working perfect though. We have a video coming out Wednesday where we fly with Jack. He’s been perfect since day 1. There were definitely a lot of glitches with this new update. I wish they’d figured them out before rushing the uodate like you said. Heck yea! Retirement in 10 days. Lol
Well, that was interesting, informative and fun, 78 mph, eh? lol There are definitly some glitches there. Hopfully, DJI will fix them soon. Martha was also studdering when she announced the home point was set. You got some beautiful ocean footage there too! And no, I don't think it's weird that you tame your drones, or talk to them. lol yea man 78 was a bit weird. I was saying I’m glad she didn’t make it to 88 mph. She may have found Marty McFly or Doc! Haha. A lot of people are saying they have the same glitches with their mini 2, also so hopefully DJI gets it sorted out. Oh, Kristi said I’m weird for talking to them. Maybe not naming them but talking is a bit too much. Hahaha.

Interesting! So first, spherical panos look great if you have a program on your computer like "Spherical Viewer." DJI drones merge panos great! Regarding the fly app ... just updated an RC2 then flew M4Pro and most all settings were fine but surprised that the C1 C2 buttons needed to be reset. The update blocked out the former settings (so need to really check things). Did not see any drone speed display issues but then again you always have funny curve balls thrown at you! LOL! 😂
Oh that’s a cool tip for spherical panos. I’ve had these drones for a long time and have yet to really do much with the special photo stuff. You’re right about those curve balls. lol. It seems like they save this stuff for We’re the Roberts. Hahaha. I haven’t updated the Mini 4 pro yet and I’m not so sure I want to from some of the videos I’ve seen out there. Seems like everyone is having some sort of issue or 2. lol
Hi Kevin! Clean the sensors! Especially the down sensors. Pus, be aware of surrounding power lines (magnetic field interference). Dwight had some tech issues last time. Cheers, Brendan.
I’ve cleaned the sensors! Lol. I was flying one of the “mini. Killer” drones the other day and hit return home. I didn’t realize it but the RTH altitude was set to 30 feet. Next thing I knew, the drone started lowering to 30 feet from the 70 feet height it was already at. Weirdest thing I’ve seen so far. I had no idea why it was lowering altitude until later but I watched it on the screen recording flying directly toward the power lines. Somehow it missed them and then headed towards the trees. All I could say was, “crap!!!” lol. Somehow I pulled up and missed the trees but the whole way home it wanted to lower its altitude. That was crazy. Anyway, story over. Hahaha. Which RC controller were you using, the RC N1 or RC N2 or RC N3 with the updated fly app for the mini 2? Compatibility: The RC-N2 is compatible with the latest DJI drones, while the RC-N1 supports a broader range of older models.
Hey there and thanks for watching. I’m using the RCN1 with the mini 2 on this video. I do have the RC2 controller for the Mini 4 pro but I haven’t updated that drone and controller yet. I may skip it! lol
My app wont work and i have the mavric mini 2 just like you and i uninstalled it and the app isnt in the store anymore for me to redownload. Any suggestions? Iv got to the website to download it from there and wont let me either.
Dang that sucks! The only thing I’ve heard is there are some android devices that have had major issues with the fly app lately. I’m not sure if the specific models but there have been a lot of different ones from what I’ve heard. Maybe check in with GavinHR and let him know what phone you’re using. He may have some good suggestions to fix the issue.

My DJI mini 2 is asking for the Rc n-1 remote controller firmware update is it safe to do it? And my RTH is flickering also and my miles per hour saying I am going much faster than I really am and my distance still says I’m traveling away when the drone is sitting still what do I do about it?
Awesome questions and thanks so much for watching. From what I’ve seen with the 1.14.2 update, all of those things you mentioned are bugs a lot of us are experiencing. None of them mess with the flight or the functions of the drone which is good so it’s just more of an annoyance. They had a new update come out today 1.15.0 to introduce the Air 3S but I haven’t updated yet. I watched a couple videos on the update though and it sees stable enough to upgrade. That could fix all of your problems but then again it could create some new ones. lol. These updates are never perfect so it’s always a hit and miss type thing. I usually just cross my fingers and hope for the best. lol. I’m planning on updating and making a video for the Mini 2 next week or so and am hoping it fixes my problems, too. We’ll see!!! every time I add super light weight landing gear to mine. I get a payload warning and get restricted flight height. How to you add a RID module and still get it to go that far up?
Oh wow I’ve never had any interference like that. Have you tried going to settings and making sure the payload limiter is turned off? There’s a toggle switch for payload and I have mine set to off. I thought it was supposed to automatically activate when it senses a heavy weight but maybe since my switch is off it overrides it.
lol that’s not surprising. Irritating but not surprising, eh? I’ve seen several comments so far saying the same thing. I think DJI pushed this update out way too fast. Maybe they’ll have another update soon. Hahaha.
One thing I noticed on my Air-2 is that earlier saved hyperlapse "waypoint" missions now load with a "20s" interval instead of "2s", giving an immediate message that there is not enough battery. Changing interval back to 2s and resaving fixes it.
@@WeretheRoberts I'm using RC-N1 with a tripletek tablet (android). Haven't tested it with iPhone. Also, my mini-2 did not exhibit your weird home point set glitch.
Not sure if this is connected or not but i tried to setup a Mini 2Se this week and couldnt get my DJI Fly app to open or work. looking around online it appears this may have to do with the phone upgrading its software and the app not liking it. in my case its a Google Pixel 8. The app was working a while ago but now wasnt. I tried reloading and it wouldnt reload. I found a chat group where this was acknowledged by DJI and they were working on it.

That’s a remote ID module. It’s something the FAA requires us to have on our drones if we are flying commercially or if our drones weigh over 250 grams.
My mini 3 and mini 4 pro now fly at triple the normal speeds - my mini 4 pro was going 88 MPH which I was wondering how can I set the flux capacitor for 1969 Woodstock concert

Boooooo!!! They need to fix that part. If people don’t know any better they’d think their cable or phone is messed up, eh? I’m sure eventually they’ll get it right. I think they rushed this update for the Neo and they should’ve done their normal quality control checks instead.
Another good video. I like very much that you put names to your drones. My favorite, Rose. The others are OK, but Rose is the oldest (don't tell her) and with more experience. I haven’t updated to the new fly app version yet but from what I’ve seen so far it seems to have fixed a lot of issues. I want to update but haven’t had a chance yet. Hopefully I’ll be able to do so soon and if I remember (maybe you could remind me haha) I’ll let you know. Not sure if I’ll be able to do a video on it before they come out with the next update. Lol
I’ve heard that complaint a lot lately. If you’re using an android that could be the issue. There are some android devices that have been having a lot of problems and even some aren’t supported by the fly app anymore. Which is crazy to me me.
What are you retiring from? Ever fly at Hammock beach resort? I used to fly there a lot. Actually left my controller on the ground by accident and it was gone when I came back about 15 minutes later....

He has had a Mavic pro for a long time also. He lives 2 blocks from bay drive. Great charter captain for years. Glad you liked that spot.
I fly the Air2S. Last Monday I noticed I had an update available on my RC Pro for the Fly App. It was version 1.14.1. After downloading it, the Fly app kept crashing. As soon as I opened the app it would crash. I spent all week going back and forth with DJI Tech support as they said I was the first person bringing it to their attention that there was an issue. By Thursday they were prepared to send me a label so I could send the RC Pro to them after everything I was told to do did not work. On Friday I noticed a new FW was available. So I downloaded version 1.14.2 and go figure that one solved my issue. The Fly app no longer crashes and I ended up flying all weekend.
Wow it’s funny how problems like that always are so hit and miss. But what’s cool is they said you were the only one that reported it. They made a new update just for you!!! How cool is that?

Oh wow I hadn’t seen that issue before. I don’t have the histogram activated on Rose so I never would’ve thought to look at it. I guess it’s good they fixed it. Even though there’s more issues now. Hahaha. I’m sure they’ll get it all sorted out soon though, eh?

Hey again, buddy. Yea I got the 107 back in March and honestly it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. I used Drone Launch Academy to study and it worked out really well. If I can give any advice, I would say schedule your test first then start studying hard for it for about 2 or 3 weeks. I initially just started studying in my spare time with no real date to be ready by and next thing I knew, 6 months had passed and I wasn’t even close to ready. lol. When I finally buckled down and decided to get it done, I scheduled the test for 3 weeks out and studied a little bit each day until the morning of the test. Surprisingly I was way more prepared than I thought I would be but having the test date already set kept the pressure on to study. Anyway, sorry I typed so much. lol. Best of luck when you take the test, man. You got this.
I used the Pilot Institute - great organization and community well worth the money you pay for the course and they have many free courses as well. Most of all if you follow the program- you will pass the exam (they also guaranty your money back if your don't - so fail the test once and you would have paid for the course )
Nice. I think most of those companies are pretty similar but the best part is its pay once and you have access for life. It’ll be cool to have it when I need to renew in 2026.
Holy crap! I haven’t seen that high of a speed but I was in normal mode. I bet sport mode is crazy! lol. I’m sure they’ll get it sorted out but it’s pretty annoying to have all these bugs on a new update. I think they rushed it again
I went to my local AMA field yesterday with my Air2S and two iPad Pros, one on 1.14.2 and the other on 1.12.3. This iPad Pro with the older version showed the expected (presumably) accurate speeds. The other with the new version of Fly showed 140 mph in sport mode! It does make one wonder what else is messed up.
@@djcase21 agree. And now I’ve seen it on a couple videos where the miles per hour is way off. You would think that would be a somewhat simple thing to make sure you had correct.

I dont think the drone likes your RID module. Its right over your GPS module and depending on the trajectory of the triangulation of satellites you will get different behaviours at different locations. Minis arent great with payloads and I have had similar anomalies with an Air 2 using a go pro attached which is better with payloads.

I talk to my James the CFLY mini 2. The other day it was “you fkin pile of sheet” I flew in the morning no problems. A flight in the afternoon the gimbal wouldn’t work. Camera on but looked like I was flying with a certain debilitating shaky disease. Also I had 24 satellites and he was still toilet bowling in the morning flight. Vids on my channel. Not the shaky one though.

lol so far so good. None of our drones have seemed to have any problems directly related to the RID modules. People keep commenting that the modules are placed directly above the gps receivers but I keep telling them it doesn’t seem to matter because I’m still getting over 25 satellites with each flight. I think most of my problems are self induced or glitches. At least that’s that I’m telling myself. Hahaha

Have DJI got a wind speed sensor ? So if they’re flying into the wind the sensor might sense a faster flight speed.

Even though my M2EA is what I fly the most and the M30T is my most capable platform, I'm still quite impressed with these small buggers... Therye pretty useful for a quick and discrete daylight closeup of some subjects! 😄

We have another mini 2 we call Jack that’s still on the 1.4.8 update from 2021 and it still flies perfect. Matter of fact, he’ll be making an appearance on a special video for Wednesday. Hopefully we’ll get back on our normal schedule next week. We’ve had some reviews to do and it always messes us up.
I haven’t done any updates as yet. It’s all working as it should so I don’t want to spoil things. What is the little black box thing on top of the drone, what is it’s function ?
Definitely a wise decision. Lol. I haven’t flown the mini 2 since this update because I don’t wanna take a chance of it getting confused with those speeds listed. Really weird. I’ve been “patiently” waiting on another update to fix this but I guess DJI is taking their time for once.
Also, that’s a remote ID module on top of the drone. It’s something the FAA has started requiring so they can track drones in flight. It’s like a digital license late for the drone.
With those speeds, you should drag race Rose and Jack...lol. I saw, on a Facebook group, some folks were getting glitches with the app update, others weren't. DJI must have rushed updates, with the NEO release. Good Luck on the upcoming retirement!

He’s been perfect since day 1. There were definitely a lot of glitches with this new update. I wish they’d figured them out before rushing the uodate like you said. Heck yea! Retirement in 10 days. A lot of people are saying they have the same glitches with their mini 2, also so hopefully DJI gets it sorted out. Oh, Kristi said I’m weird for talking to them. Interesting! So first, spherical panos look great if you have a program on your computer like "Spherical Viewer." DJI drones merge panos great! Regarding the fly app ... just updated an RC2 then flew M4Pro and most all settings were fine but surprised that the C1 C2 buttons needed to be reset. The update blocked out the former settings (so need to really check things). Did not see any drone speed display issues but then again you always have funny curve balls thrown at you! LOL! 😂
Oh that’s a cool tip for spherical panos. I’ve had these drones for a long time and have yet to really do much with the special photo stuff. You’re right about those curve balls. lol. It seems like they save this stuff for We’re the Roberts. Hahaha. I haven’t updated the Mini 4 pro yet and I’m not so sure I want to from some of the videos I’ve seen out there. I’ve cleaned the sensors! Lol. I was flying one of the “mini. Killer” drones the other day and hit return home. I didn’t realize it but the RTH altitude was set to 30 feet. Next thing I knew, the drone started lowering to 30 feet from the 70 feet height it was already at. Weirdest thing I’ve seen so far. I had no idea why it was lowering altitude until later but I watched it on the screen recording flying directly toward the power lines. Somehow it missed them and then headed towards the trees. All I could say was, “crap!!!” lol. Somehow I pulled up and missed the trees but the whole way home it wanted to lower its altitude. That was crazy. Anyway, story over. Hahaha. My app wont work and i have the mavric mini 2 just like you and i uninstalled it and the app isnt in the store anymore for me to redownload. Any suggestions? Iv got to the website to download it from there and wont let me either.
Dang that sucks! The only thing I’ve heard is there are some android devices that have had major issues with the fly app lately. I’m not sure if the specific models but there have been a lot of different ones from what I’ve heard. Maybe check in with GavinHR and let him know what phone you’re using. He may have some good suggestions to fix the issue.

My DJI mini 2 is asking for the Rc n-1 remote controller firmware update is it safe to do it? And my RTH is flickering also and my miles per hour saying I am going much faster than I really am and my distance still says I’m traveling away when the drone is sitting still what do I do about it?
Awesome questions and thanks so much for watching. From what I’ve seen with the 1.14.2 update, all of those things you mentioned are bugs a lot of us are experiencing. None of them mess with the flight or the functions of the drone which is good so it’s just more of an annoyance. They had a new update come out today 1.15.0 to introduce the Air 3S but I haven’t updated yet. I watched a couple videos on the update though and it sees stable enough to upgrade. That could fix all of your problems but then again it could create some new ones. lol. These updates are never perfect so it’s always a hit and miss type thing. I usually just cross my fingers and hope for the best. lol. I’m planning on updating and making a video for the Mini 2 next week or so and am hoping it fixes my problems, too. We’ll see!!! How do you get the radar to come up in the bottom left corner?
In the bottom left where the map is, just tap the bottom right corner (maybe the top right corner) and the radar should pull up.
When Rose keeps repeating herself it is because she thinks that you are not paying attention Kevin. Perhaps if you acknowledge what she tells you she will not repeat herself.

every time I add super light weight landing gear to mine. I get a payload warning and get restricted flight height. How to you add a RID module and still get it to go that far up?
Oh wow I’ve never had any interference like that. Have you tried going to settings and making sure the payload limiter is turned off? There’s a toggle switch for payload and I have mine set to off. I thought it was supposed to automatically activate when it senses a heavy weight but maybe since my switch is off it overrides it.

Rose is a Mini 2. We have another mini 2 we called Jack and he’s on an old fly app from 2021 (1.4.8). He’s still flying slow. Haha

One thing I noticed on my Air-2 is that earlier saved hyperlapse "waypoint" missions now load with a "20s" interval instead of "2s", giving an immediate message that there is not enough battery. Changing interval back to 2s and resaving fixes it.

Not sure if this is connected or not but i tried to setup a Mini 2Se this week and couldnt get my DJI Fly app to open or work. looking around online it appears this may have to do with the phone upgrading its software and the app not liking it. in my case its a Google Pixel 8. The app was working a while ago but now wasnt. I tried reloading and it wouldnt reload. I found a chat group where this was acknowledged by DJI and they were working on it.
I have a fix for that on my channel. I’m sure Kevin will let you know too ☺️👍

That’s a remote ID module. It’s something the FAA requires us to have on our drones if we are flying commercially or if our drones weigh over 250 grams.

I’ve heard that complaint a lot lately. If you’re using an android that could be the issue. There are some android devices that have been having a lot of problems and even some aren’t supported by the fly app anymore. Which is crazy to me me.

I fly the Air2S. Last Monday I noticed I had an update available on my RC Pro for the Fly App. It was version 1.14.1. After downloading it, the Fly app kept crashing. As soon as I opened the app it would crash. I spent all week going back and forth with DJI Tech support as they said I was the first person bringing it to their attention that there was an issue. By Thursday they were prepared to send me a label so I could send the RC Pro to them after everything I was told to do did not work. On Friday I noticed a new FW was available. So I downloaded version 1.14.2 and go figure that one solved my issue. The Fly app no longer crashes and I ended up flying all weekend.
Wow it’s funny how problems like that always are so hit and miss. But what’s cool is they said you were the only one that reported it. They made a new update just for you!!! How cool is that?

There was an issue with the Mini 2 that 1.14.2 took care of. The Fly app would keep crashing constantly if the histogram was active.
Oh wow I hadn’t seen that issue before. I don’t have the histogram activated on Rose so I never would’ve thought to look at it. I guess it’s good they fixed it. Even though there’s more issues now. Hahaha. I’m sure they’ll get it all sorted out soon though, eh?

Hey again, buddy. Yea I got the 107 back in March and honestly it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. I used Drone Launch Academy to study and it worked out really well. If I can give any advice, I would say schedule your test first then start studying hard for it for about 2 or 3 weeks. I initially just started studying in my spare time with no real date to be ready by and next thing I knew, 6 months had passed and I wasn’t even close to ready. lol. When I finally buckled down and decided to get it done, I scheduled the test for 3 weeks out and studied a little bit each day until the morning of the test. Surprisingly I was way more prepared than I thought I would be but having the test date already set kept the pressure on to study. Anyway, sorry I typed so much. lol. Best of luck when you take the test, man. You got this.
I used the Pilot Institute - great organization and community well worth the money you pay for the course and they have many free courses as well. Most of all if you follow the program- you will pass the exam (they also guaranty your money back if your don't - so fail the test once and you would have paid for the course )
Nice. I think most of those companies are pretty similar but the best part is its pay once and you have access for life. It’ll be cool to have it when I need to renew in 2026.

Holy crap! I haven’t seen that high of a speed but I was in normal mode. I bet sport mode is crazy! lol. I’m sure they’ll get it sorted out but it’s pretty annoying to have all these bugs on a new update. I think they rushed it again
I went to my local AMA field yesterday with my Air2S and two iPad Pros, one on 1.14.2 and the other on 1.12.3. This iPad Pro with the older version showed the expected (presumably) accurate speeds. The other with the new version of Fly showed 140 mph in sport mode! It does make one wonder what else is messed up.

I dont think the drone likes your RID module. Its right over your GPS module and depending on the trajectory of the triangulation of satellites you will get different behaviours at different locations. Minis arent great with payloads and I have had similar anomalies with an Air 2 using a go pro attached which is better with payloads.

I flew in the morning no problems. A flight in the afternoon the gimbal wouldn’t work. Camera on but looked like I was flying with a certain debilitating shaky disease.
Also I had 24 satellites and he was still toilet bowling in the morning flight. Vids on my channel. Not the shaky one though.

lol so far so good. None of our drones have seemed to have any problems directly related to the RID modules. People keep commenting that the modules are placed directly above the gps receivers but I keep telling them it doesn’t seem to matter because I’m still getting over 25 satellites with each flight. I think most of my problems are self induced or glitches. At least that’s that I’m telling myself. Hahaha

The recent passing of a bill to ban all DJI drones is just another sad example of our freedoms being taken away here in the states. 😕
Couldn’t agree more, man. They grasped at straws with their logic and they worked. All you gotta do is mention national security and people are scared to death.
Skydio is the major lobbier for the ban.

You know I’ve heard rumors about some specific android phones being discontinued which I think is horrible! GavinHR would probably be able to help you find a phone that is still supported though. Have you been to Bay drive park? Just north of bings landing. Never crowded large parking area, restroom and on the ocean.
