@@Bit01 I could have sworn that the animation looked like rotoscoping. I swear, that style of animation might have been time-consuming, but the level of detail and realism it gave to production was next-level. An art form ahead of its time I suppose...or just too expensive to sustain.

They found a GT500, rented it, took it to a race track and had a professional driver do all kind of maneuvers so they could study exactly how it moved and what it looked like. Then they went back to the studio in Japan and animated the whole thing by hand. They even put a tribute to the famous Blues Brothers chase scene under the elevated train line in the show. I really wish they did more with this series. The skills they used are dying out now. Newer generations of artists aren't learning them because cgi became quicker and cheaper.

(First time reading it) from what I've heard the ending was a little disappointing. Also check out "Riding Bean" animated ova, its on youtube sub and dubbed by the same creator Kenichi Sonoda.

The Shelby GT500 Fast Back is my dream car and it makes me wanna cry seeing them destroy it like that. However the car is beutify animated and looks just as good as the real thing.
If I’m being completely honest, I think the 1968 GT 2+2 is my favorite classic. Not because of Steve McQueen, no, but because it looked SO good in the daylight. The 67 GT500, the Olds 442 and the 57 Buick Century are the runner ups.

They used toy models as references back in the day, but now a days they just use cgi as a cheaper way.
