    This whole video I was like "why is this Minnesotan living on a houseboat in Sweden?!" I knew that a lot of Europeans (and Nords in particular) were very, very good at speaking English, but I had no idea of the extent with the accent and everything. You sound more American than quite a few Americans I've met, and I'm a Virginian.

      toastyghost I was thinking da same ting mate. Her English is a fair bit proper bubba. Is cool she lives on the crick like she does. In most her videos she’s a cuttin a caper. I’m from Virginia as well , grew up in guinea. A town full of Swedish immigrants. The accent is thick . I have since lost it since I move away.

    This video makes me want to go buy a boat to live on. It's so cute! And how many home tours also include "here's the engine" which is cool. Are you an actual captain with like a boat license and stuff? Do you drive your house around? You said tugboat; can you use your house as a tug and make money pulling around your neighbors?
    But then I see the poop video and I realize I don't want to live on a boat after all.

    • @Roonasaur
      @Roonasaur 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      In America at least, a driver's license is sufficient to captain your own boat. You only need a special license if you want to run charter cruises with paying passengers, or operate as a tug with paying customers

    • @martinshow5146
      @martinshow5146 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      in Europe you need a licence to drive a motor boad with an engine bigger than 15hp, or a sail Boat with a sail bigger than 12m² and you can drive all boats sizes but you can't take more than 12 persons with you, and you can't pass a 3 Nautical miles from the coast. and than you have a secont degree licence that allowes you to pass till 12 Nautical miles but its exam is damn complicated ... and that an other degree or level till 30 N.miles and the next and last one is for all open seas all over the world to cross oceans. and you can use it for commercial boats till 25meters long i think and not more that 12 persons. and once you have the first grade licence you can call yourself a skipper or captain if you like it. but to call your self a captain you must have a boat. or they will laugh on you :) because a captain without a boat is not a captain :)
      all those categories are available for seas and for rivers you need an other licence , but you are limited to drive boats under 15meters long on rivers.

      @SnipinCatz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Zeeadster TV The rules are different everywhere. For example, in Norway it's 25hp or up to 8 meters without a license. Or if you were born before these rules were put into place you don't have to take it up to 15 meters and unlimited hp.
      There are plenty of licenses for different sized vessels after that.
      There's the 15 meter one, for which you need to be 15 years old and take a quick 50 question test. Unlimited hp and unlimited number of people.
      Then there's one for craft larger than 15 meters, but shorter than 24 meters for which you need to be 18 and do an online course. You need to be of well health and bring a note from the doctor to prove it. You also need to have had a ship before, served on a ship for a year or take another test.
      That's it for Norway.
      And Sweden didn't, and might still not have mandatory boating licenses for pleasure craft. In any case, they didn't have mandatory boating licenses few years ago. They've been proposing it for decades so it might have passed but I'm Norwegian and don't pay that much attention to Sweden's boating licenses.
      The fact that just Sweden and Norway are so varied on the subject of boating licenses should tell you that this is not something that is Europe or even EU wide.

      ***** There are always data caps in Europe. Even if they aren't immediately apparant.
      My ISP (YouSee) has a 300GB "fair use" limit to deter people from seeding torrents and similar "always on" services with their private subscriptions. I have never - EVER managed to hit the limit, or be contacted about my use.
      And to be fair I spend a LOT of time online, downloading large games and patches, watching Netflix in HD and streaming music. I'd be surprised if I didn't hit the cap and just haven't been told about it since it's not excessive.

    You keep books on a houseboat. I live on the coast and had to buy a dehumidifier to keep my books from becoming plants. I run it all day. I don't know where you live, but how do you manage humidity, or do you bother? I'm wondering if it's easier in cold climates where the temperature would reduce the capacity of air to hold water, though even in the north you have summer so I imagine it's impossible then as things warm up. Also, is being a live-aboarder really cost effective? Boats require maintenance, and we've got a lot of live-aboarders near where I live but we've had our share of indigents and people who dump sewage improperly (not that the city doesn't as well). Some people seem to think of it as a way to save on rent, but it doesn't necessarily seem like all it's cracked up to be. Thanks for the vid, would also like to see the boat from outside.

    • @SuperMrminecraftdude
      @SuperMrminecraftdude 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know exactly about this one, but normal yachts are pretty expensive, but if you swap your house for one its no problem, its no problem affording a 50 foot yacht (if its second hand ofcourse otherwise its expensive af) ive been thinking about it myself but i think id rather choose a sailboat, its more expensive though you get a lot less for the money BUT you can literally travel the world without spending a single freaking dime. Normal yachts of 40 foot size drink a lot of fuel so its a big no to traveling long distances.

    • @leonawroth2516
      @leonawroth2516 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      A houseboat is nothing alike a yacht. Houseboats are made for staying at the dock and just rarely move. Yachts on the other hand are built to move constently and it would be a waste to just live on it bound to a port.
      That's why the prices are probably completely different.

      Have to consider where you're docking and getting a permit/paying for that in the cost/convenience factor. You can travel anywhere but it's not free parking. Would be pretty fun to live on a boat and move about if you were doing freelance work/retired.

      An Ojibwe legend recounted by American ethnographer Frances Densmore says the dreamcatcher originates with Spider Woman, known as Asibikaashi; she took care of the children and the people on the land. As the Ojibwe Nation spread to the corners of North America it became difficult for Asibikaashi to reach all the children.[4] So the mothers and grandmothers would weave magical webs for the children, using willow hoops and sinew, or cordage made from plants:
      Even infants were provided with protective charms. Examples of these are the "spiderwebs" hung on the hoop of a cradle board. These articles consisted of wooden hoops about 3½ inches in diameter filled with an imitation of a spider's web made of fine yarn, usually dyed red. In old times this netting was made of nettle fiber. Two spider webs were usually hung on the hoop, and it was said that they "caught any harm that might be in the air as a spider's web catches and holds whatever comes in contact with it."[4]

    Its Adorable.
    If you have much computer drives you could assemble them wired down in the engine room to contribute their running heat to the room & keep them cool.
    Anachoustic baffles would deaden the sounds of the engines & insulate the atmosphere below decks from the cold water against the hull.
