It’s very unfortunate that those who disagree with what Major Coleman said seem to belittle or degrade him rather than submit counterpoints. It does not make someone less intelligent for submitting a different viewpoint from you, if your viewpoint is as superior as you claim, it should be nearly effortless to convince them to your “truth”. It doesn’t cost anything from us to be kind to one another and we need it most when we disagree.

He thinks cats and dogs should be able to breed if evolution was true (it would falsify evolution). He thinks abiogenesis is part of the theory of evolution. He basically understands nothing, and is just arguing against a strawman. Incompetence or malice is of course hard to judge. Probably he is more willfully ignorant.
I am not saying he has to accept evolution for me to respect his opinion on it. But he has to understand it. He does not. And we are not talking "he got a few details wrong". No, we are in the 2+2=5 level of ignorance here.

@@lmoelleb abiogenesis has historically been part of the theory of evolution.
Evolutionary theory is an attempt to explain the origin of species through natural means without supernatural Creation. Logically, unless you concede the existence of God and subscribe to theistic evolution in order to explain the origin of life (a position that has been shown to be unsustainable), abiogenesis must have originally occurred in order to commence the process of Darwinian evolution. Abiogenesis is required by evolution as the starting point.
The growing trend among evolutionists today to attempt to sidestep the problem of abiogenesis by contending that evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life, but rather is a theory which starts with life already in existence and explains the origin of all species from that original life form is either intellectually dishonest, agenda driven or just brainwashed indoctrination.

I grew up Catholic and was taught to only have “blind faith” and not question any of the Church’s doctrines. When I went to university I was quickly indoctrinated into Secular Humanism. I took so many philosophy of religion courses that I had an unofficial minor in it! (Of course, not one single class was taught by anyone of faith - all were taught by Atheists.)
It wasn’t until almost 2 decades later when I was 37 years old that I was actually exposed to Apologetics. That is, the evidence for belief in God. But even more succinctly, the truth that Yahweh, the one true God and Creator of the universe loved His creation (humanity) so much that he humiliated Himself by becoming one of us. This was foretold in multiple scriptural prophecies.
He lived with us, He loved us, He taught us the true meaning of the Torah, Tanakh, and other scriptures and most importantly… He died in the most humiliating and tortured way while taking the sins of the world upon Him. After this, He was resurrected and defeated death itself for any and every person who chooses to accept this gift of salvation. I truly believe that anyone who honestly seeks truth will find it in the One who is Truth.

Hi Lisa, your story can be true. But to say being a Catholic is to follow the truth of the faith blindly can't be true. May be you were young at that time when you were told just to have faith in God. However, Catholicism is the most developed and highly sophisticated form of Christianity because it's of Christ. It can't be anything else. Right before Luther came, Catholicism was 1500 years old. And that means the Church has examined and thought about the truth for 1500 years. Indeed, betrayal and corruption, just like Judas, was and still is part of Church. As unacceptable as it is, it doesn't change the fact that Catholicism, with it's younger sister Church in Orthodox, is the only faith that is of Christ and Christ of God.

I always believed in God, but like many people I was filled with doubts and unanswered questions. It's only with the help of TH-cam that I have finally solidified my faith in Jesus, and the Bible. Yes, I watch debates, I listen to competing theories. There are a lot of good sounding theories, but they all fall apart when taken as a whole. I am not a pastor, and i collect nothing, but I will try to share honoring tithes and offerings. I give tithes and offerings because these are needed for the church( not the building but the body) to function and work on reaching everyone with the gospel. If you are a true ambassador of the Kingdom of God, you will be looking at where to give tithes and offerings, because your business is to promote God's kingdom.
Now when you don't tithe, this is not sin, but those who tithe without are making a covenant with God since God is a God of covenant. So even though not tithing is not a sin, those who tithe get the benefit those who don't will not get. it is like going to the gym improves your health while those who don't go don't have the benefit of those who go. Of course, any pastor or man of God forcing you to tithe is wrong. but please let us understand well what tithing and offerings are before speaking against them in general.
Tithing and offering are spiritual exercises of faith. and God sees all those who do it and the reason in their hearts and reward everyone according to their motives

So you lot mean to tell me before God so loved the world to the extent that he would give his only son to be violently assaulted and murdered to shed his blood, he actually committed a genocide on a global scale with a big big flood????
Now as a good Christian who is extolled (in Matthew 5:48 ) to be perfect like God, would you kill all your children who have become wayward in order to give yourself a new start?? Please dont answer to me.
It's just food for thought for yourself.
As a human with far less intellect and compassion than God, wouldn't the destruction of your children be the last thing on your mind as a solution, especially if you have the power to change/reform them just by the power of your own pronouncements?
Now check this. The bible says, God REGRETTED for creating humans and decided to commit such an act as a solution to pervasive sin. And then after this act also he regretted again??? and the promised to never do so again using a rainbow as a sign of covenant?
God killed everyone in a flood with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. Did it work?
He burnt Sodom and Gomorrah too it never worked,
He ordered the Amelikites to be assaulted women and children killed, that too never worked,
He again resorted to the violent murder of his own child, and still! today there is pervasive sin.

I'm a game dev. I can make a simple universe in a weekend. I can program the "natural processes" like erosion for example. I don't even need to be present once I execute. With enough time, knowledge and power I could sim our universe to the atom. I would be the watch maker. My simulated humans could have free will to choose. I can give them attributes before they are conceived that I would be completely aware of. I could make my universe scale to full in 6 in game days with the appearance of thousands. None of this would be random unguided processes. Even if it appeared so to my sims. The best part? Trying to make them understand my world and their place would be quite challenging. I would be beyond their understanding.
I'm a highschool dropout. If I can do this....
Imagine what's out there beyond what people claim to know. How many true things are beyond the reach of your senses? Magnetism, electricity, DNA, radiation are all discoveries, excavated from reality. None are scientific inventions. We don't even know what gravity is or how it works.

    Random natural unguided processes?
Pure fantasy. It's a joke. The evidence is blinding if you have the courage to actually consider it.

Why is it that you feel the need to minimize others in order to make a point? Also, how is a lawyer debating an opposite position ironic? In my opinion, he seems to be the perfect person for the job. He has all the proper training to prove his point. All it would take is researching both sides and comparing the evidence. There is a lot of creationist scientist in the world that rejects evolution, so the data is there for a good debate.
So a judge concluding that the “intelligent design claim had no scientific merit” and could not “uncouple itself from religion” is somehow enough proof for you? You don’t think it took an intelligent designer to create all the order and precision in our universe? from the molecular level to the order of the galaxies? But somehow taking God out of it and saying we’re all here by accident/chance is somehow science.
Evolution has a lot of holes in its theory. For example, there’s no fossil evidence for the intermediary stages of any species on Earth.
How does the universe arises from nothing and then explodes in a bang?
Where did the energy come from for the explosion to take place?
      Where does consciousness come from?
How are we able to discover math in an accidentally created universe?
umm sound like a religion to me lol
But the bible doesn’t get enough credit. Once upon a time, people claimed a flat earth rested on top of elephants. The Bible always claims it to be a circle/sphere (Isaiah 40:22) and suspended on nothing (Job 26:7) before anyone. If you think about it, evolution is only popular today because of indoctrination. Most of us are taught to believe it from a very young age and it would be taboo to refute it.

Because he is a lesser. So are the people that accept this nonsense, just like flat Earthers.
These claims are known by the relevant scientists and they know they are meritless. eg. Entropy refers to usable energy in a system. not complexity, we get energy from the sun via plants. Evolution doesn't violate that. A living body or set of bodies, or species etc, isn't an enclosed system. The Prof is wrong. I could go on every point but that would be a major response.
Any of these topics are available on the internet.

Scientists overwhelmingly agree that humans evolved over time, and most Americans are aware that this is the case. Among scientists connected to the American Association for the Advancement of Science, 98% say they believe humans evolved over time.
In court it has repeated failed for
In Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District (2005)
District Judge John E. Jones III ruled that intelligent design is not science but “a religious argument” and “nothing less than the progeny of creationism.”

@@anilkanda611 I suppose it could be called chance, but the solar system formed from a cloud of interstellar gas and dust. (Mostly hydrogen). An accretion disk developed around the central mass which was condensing into the sun. Gravity caused clumps to form in the accretion disk. As they got larger their gravity increased and most of the rest of the debris was pulled into them. These became the planets. We have seen this process taking pace in other star systems. When the central mass gets hot enough it is called a protostar. Further gravitational collapse eventually triggers nuclear fusion at the core. That's when it becomes a star.
One principle of critical thinking is accepting verifiable facts. Everything I just described is entirely consistent with what we observe in our own solar system and a handful of others that can be observed from a great distance. Go to Wikipedia and read about stellar evolution.

And data doesn't go back that far especially in its region. What temperature data goes a little over 100 yrs. Until you can cut it down and count rings maybe you could get a closer estimate. Next point when was Adam and Eve created? Some estimates are approximately 9700 yrs ago or 55,000-120,00 or most popular estimate 6000 yrs. So let us say 6,000....... 6000 - 1656 = 4344 yrs! To me that estimate is close enough that it to prove it was after the flood. If a tree grows where there is good soil and rain it will out grow a tree in poor soil and poor rain fall or just in not so friendly conditions. I've seen trees in Reelfoot Lake that over 200 yrs old that are the size of the same tree as one that are approximately 10 yrs. I know of two trees my father planted the same time and one is over 50 ft and the other is 20 ft. They are about 75 yards apart. One is next to a pond and grows slower. Same Cypress trees in Reelfoot lake. Estimates are approximate....... unless you know all the history even stamped dates can mislead.

He also claims the planet, solar system, universe is thousands of years old, but that time frame is not long enough to observe evolutionary changes although on that time frame evolution is still in progress. Evolution works on the billions of years time frame to SEE GREAT CHANGES IN ANY SPECIES. Beside we humans don't leave long enough to see these evolutionary changes. Everything is still evolving as we speak..... he claims the flood happened 2500 BC then the question is when was the ancient Egyptian civilization started? 3100 BC...yet we know after the ancient Egyptian empire came the ancient Greeks 1600 BC, then the Romans 753 BC, then the Byzantium empire 330. The histories are the evidence. At 23:00 he was asked if any other humans or animals could have survived the flood, he responded, '' absolutely not''' meaning nothing survived but at 29:40 when ask about insects on the ark he states that insects are hardy just like giants of the sea that were not on the ark but though many died some survived. But earlier nothing outside the ark survived. SMH....Your argument is porous, incongruent, slightly piggy backs on science and frankly misguided. keep trying creationists, you will find it increasingly difficult to defend that point of view as science provides more evidence with the passage of time...and you will still be stuck with the same old story of creation that has not moved one millimetre. Before God so loved the world to the extent that he would give his only son to be violently assaulted and murdered to shed his blood, (John 3.16) he actually committed a genocide on a global scale with a big big flood????
so as Christians are extolled (in Matthew 5:48 ) to be perfect like God, would they emulate God and kill all their wayward children in order to give yourself a new start??
As humans with far less intellect and compassion than their God, if they had the power to change/reform their children just by the power of their own pronouncements
wouldn't the killing of their children be the last thing on their mind as a solution?
Now check this. The bible says, God REGRETTED for creating humans and decided to commit such an act as a solution to pervasive sin.
And then what happened afterwards? He regretted again??? hahaha And then promptly promised to never do so again using a rainbow as a sign of covenant?
      SUMMARY
God killed everyone in a flood with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. IT DIDNT WORK
He burnt down Sodom and Gomorrah too with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. IT DIDNT WORK
He ordered the Amelikites to be assaulted (women and children killed), with the objective of dealing with their pervasive sinfulness. iT DIDNT WORK
He again resorted to the violent murder of his own child with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. IT DIDNT WORK
TODAY TODAY TODAY THERE IS PERVASIVE SINFULNESS
Now, for ascribing such spectacular failures to "God" supposedly a an all knowing being, how long before you all realized that all this could only be borrowed mythology?
      How fucking long?

@@KFRoss1 I might be a bit late, but he basically misrepresented evolution in all 4 steps. Step 1 is not even evolution, it's abiogenesis, which scientists are working on, but have not yet completely understood - at this point they're observing amino acids forming in prebiotic conditions, but iirc, they haven't observed rna forming yet. Step 2 on the other hand has been observed. Single-celled algae for example form colonies and become multicellular (and are even able to pass this trait on) if predation occurs. On step 3 he misrepresents the statistics involved. Evolution is not "random chance", but an interplay of random mutation, natural selection and some other factors. This results in a lot of small mutations occuring and those that are beneficial being past on while deleterious ones are removed (for the most part). But even worse, his argument assumes that the current state was some kind of end goal for evolution. It doesn't have a goal - only a status quo and added pressures. With his 4th step he's almost right. Only that he's ignoring how genetic evidence and the ever growing tree of life basically proof beyond any reasonable doubt that evolution actually works that way.
His own positive points are even worse. DNA is no code, as it is growing and changing by chemical mechanisms alone and that is a fact we can observe today. Compare it to a river whose course is changing naturally over the centuries because of physical influences - you wouldn't say that this river was a channel and thus must have had a constructor, now, would you?
His claims about a young earth are just science denial of the highest order. I'm simply amazed there are people who can say those things without getting laughed off the stage.
His flood dates are wrong, as the flood is supposed to have happened about 500 years after that "oldest living tree" started growing. By that time, the first dynasty of Egypt was already ruling and the great pyramid of Giza was built before the year of the deluge. Egypts continued existence alone disproves a biblical flood.
But his other flood evidence is even worse. The limestone he mentions is - to a great degree - formed from shells of small sea life. But the size of those deposits necessitates many orders of magnitude more than 40 days to form. Ob top of that, the build-up of limestone would have released so much heat, that it would have cooked the earth many times over if it had been released in those 40 days alone.
The fossils on mountaintops are another weird one. If this was the result of a flood, you'd think you'd find all kinds of sea creatures, birds and land animals. But you only ever find sea life that has been extinct for millions of years. The reason for this (and the limestone deposits as well) is plate tectonics. Those mountains were sea floor once, but rose when the continents pushed up against each other. Those same plate movements are the reason for mountains getting higher year by year and not eroded away.
Hope that helps you understand where we're coming from.

Why would a Professor of Law know anything about the Theory of Biological Evolution?
    And surely he doesn't.
11:50 Where on earth did he get 90 forms, kinds, of life - and what are they? He mention the wrod 'genus' but it by no means clear what he means.
And where did he get the number '15,000 animals on the Ark' from?
13:10 He think there were TWO pairs of each 'kind'. Where did that come from? Everyone else think there was ONE pair.
    14:20 Four postulates fo evolution
    1: Life come from non-life
2: All multicellular life-form comes from single celles life forms. Then he states something that is simply not true, that we have no two celled life forms. Besides that, there is no need for wuch a creatiure in evolution, but it does actuallye exist.
3: Time and Chance drive evolution. A very naïve description - or rather downright wrong, as it rules out Natural Selection. His calculation of a single protein 'coming together' is probably correct, but is just irrelevant. We know that functional beneficial n´brand Ne protein coding genes can emrege in the genome of various organisms.
4: Small differences accumulate to major differences. Then he refers to Mendel who didn't show anything like what he suggests. And it is actually not true - new genes DO appear.
When he cannot describe Biological Evolution correctly, and cannot point to relevant problems, there is really not so much more to say.
    The rest is just irrelevant!

The part about Noah's flood is one of the major issues I have with the Bible. If the genealogies in Genesis are correct, the flood would have occurred around 2348 BC. However, there were at least 4 major civilizations that existed at that time that were uninterrupted (Norte Chico, Egyptian, Sumerian, and Indus Valley). Also, if it happened at that time, then how did the civilizations get to the Americas? Either the flood was a localized event and was embellished in the Bible, or it didn't happen at all and is just a parable. And, if it was recorded by Moses, which people still aren't sure about, then it would have been recorded more than 1000 years after the flood, which gives the narrative plenty of time to be changed. Many of the books in the Old Testament are sketchy.

Wyoming was an American wooden six-masted schooner built and completed in 1909 by the firm of Percy & Small in Bath, Maine.[1] With a length of 450 ft (140 m) from jib-boom tip to spanker boom tip, Wyoming was the largest known wooden ship ever built.[4]
Its sheer size and wooden body made it flex in heavy seas. Her designers stiffened her with internal steel bracing. However, she bent and twisted at sea. Gaps formed in her planking, and water gushed inside its hold.. Wyoming had to use pumps to keep its hold relatively free of water. In March 1924, it foundered in heavy seas and sank with the loss of all hands.
The Ark was bigger than this with no steel bracing and no pumps. The Ark is a fantasy.

@@anilkanda611 Scared of debating with a nut-case? Possibly. He's preaching to the already converted. No facts would bother them. It's a waste of time trying. How did Noah get two Siberian Tigers onto the ark? Or Alaskan Grizzly Bears? Or Polar Bears? It would take years to travel to Alaska and back with cages big enough and strong enough. In fact it couldn't be done in those days. You only need to look at the logistics, but the people he speaks to don't care about facts or reality.

You should look into when science was used to prove God is real. You’ve been indoctrinated to believe science is meant to disprove God isn’t real.

Mankind cannot rid himself of his rebellion towards the Lord. No matter the evidence...mankind will rebel against the Truth. There will come a day...when standing before Christ...they will all know the Truth, and these words will be whispered in their ears. You will know the Lord.

@@brentkindle6058 The same reason I don't offer anything to rebut some dude claiming he's a woman. How do you refute someone's fantasies? Science is utterly irrelevant to religious faith. If religious people can find some science that seems to support their position, they trot it out. If they find science that does not support their beliefs, they ignore or willfully refuse to grasp it. Religion is ultimately about faith, not logic, evidence, or the scientific method. Those are only fairweather friends for religious persons - to be applauded when they seem to positively support a belief, rejected when they seem to negatively affect their beliefs. Incidentally, I find some aspects of evolutionary theory highly suspect, and I'm an atheist. But my objections are on logical-evidential grounds which for me are absolutely not "fair weather friends."
