Watching you catch grass hoppers takes me back to being a kid, maybe 35 years ago. My brother and I going out and catching a bunch of flying grasshoppers for bait. Then, going fishing with dad. Good times. 😁 Thanks for another great video. I love your content. Keep it up.
@@organicthug5220thought he stopped for months which was why I stopped watching but he's been uploading regularly... Fuck YT and it's "Notification 🔔"
Was searching for fishing videos for my Grandson and found yours! Best videos to introduce a kid to fishing with and also for his Papa! He gets to watch and learn, see fish caught and most importantly see that you clean and eat what you catch! No repeat of his daddy at a young age crying because I killed the fish! We’ve watched several videos so far and he’s only asking for more!!! Great Job!!!
Great video, as someone who is from here in the Sierra’s and fishes here regularly I really did enjoy seeing you release the larger rainbow. Gotta keep the sport alive for the next generation!
This reminds me of a trip I took 30 years ago to the mountains of the Wind River Indian range in Wyoming. Fly fishing there was a once in a lifetime experience. Beautiful fish!
Been too busy with the hunting season haven’t been catching up on your videos but love it brother keep it coming! I love all your solo camping and catch and cook trout videos, those are my favorite!
💛...i always carry a small green plastic and mesh cricket cage, from the bait shop or wallymart... it allows ventilation and longer life for the crickets or grasshoppers... crickets can be bought at some pet stores too... a couple dollars worth usually lasts two or three days... grasshoppers are free, but not always available...i use the clear bubble in lakes and streams and fish seem to find it on top without problem... as long as they kick and disturb the surface, they seldom fail to work...
Fantastic that you let the larger trout go. More breeding stock for the next generation 👍👌👍. If they are lot's of Bass in there it's, gonna be hard finding Crayfish.
Less and less trout every year here and crawfish. Been going to this area for 30 years now. I have property right up the rd from where you were catching grasshoppers. This summer, I caught a ton of small mouth bass, a large mouth, and a bunch of pikeminnows all summer long here. Just one decent trout. I have the best luck here, winter and spring time for trout. Crawfish use to be late August-October. Go at night with a flashlight, they have lil reflectors on them. Easy to see and catch.
When I was a kid I lived in Idaho and northern Cali in the 70’s and 80’s and grasshoppers were almost all I ever used for bait for trout. Almost always guaranteed a bite! My second choice in the rivers was just a single salmon egg on an eagle claw hook with a split shot or two and would just chick it into those holes behind boulders. Friken good times! This takes me back! Live in WA now and mostly fish lakes for trout and the beach for salmon. Thanks for the vid! 😁
Love watching these, looks so serene. I would catch grasshoppers all the time as a kid, but they met a much worse fate than the ones you released. 😁Love your content!
Nice adapting from Sunset city life to heaven Matts. I havent been to your Fishermans Life fair in a couple of years . Still suffering with the bad back you and i talked about the last time. Hope to run into you again at the next one. Enjoy Gods country!
What a lovely place to fish!! My only concern is where is your piece???!! That's how people get mauled💯 your usually pretty good about having it on your side bud, don't be slipping! Much love from the coast of Maine 🤙
Use your net and slowly lift up the stones, crawdads/crayfish only come out at night. They spend all day under the stones. Put your net in front of the rock as you lift. Lift slowly so the water does not get too muddy. THANKS MATZ!
🛑😳Dude, little do you know you just gave a full tutorial on AND experienced the "grasshopper". Your joy of it brings us all past fishing emotions. Late or not. Thanks, Lil Bro. Yeah and get a basket for 'em. You could call them all 'locust'.😊😅😂Memphis,10🇺🇲
I always click on your new videos because I really get a laugh at your buffoonery. You are not embarrassed at all at your ignorance and inexperience. I love it. By the way….a cricket is black. Just saying. Keep posting. You are very entertaining.
Great video as always. Your rigging seems to be working great but if you want to try a different way you can thread the hook under the “collar” scale just behind the head. That’s how I’ve always done it.
Nice video as always Matts! My son seems to have taken a liking to fishing - I need to show him some of your vids! And, Donatello!!???!?! Leo or Raph for me!
I've enjoyed your content for years. This is the first time I've ever seen you take a dive in fresh water. For some reason it made me remember making coffee using my cotton shirt as the filter. It was horrible, but I learned something. If you're going into the water with your clothes, make sure your clothes don't have soap or fabric softener residues. The residues come off in the water and ruin the fishing because the flavor of them is strooong in the water. I imagine a fish would get it even more. My siblings and I used to hunt red and yellow snappers every year. We'd shoot em with our bb guns and throw 'em in the compost.
Saw that you posted a new video this AM and I knew it will be a good day. Reminded me of fishing with my dad around Bridgeport: Robinson Creek and Twin Lakes. Nice memories. Thank you Matt.
I can tell in this video you didn't feel like your self but l love you and the videos dispet the f up feeling you was feeling it happens two everyone but you pulled thew that's why your the man and everyone is on board with you
When I get your new post alert, you become like the dessert after a meal. I watch you at work during downtime and always a great show. I always say to myself, "please let him catch a fish today"
Patience young grasshopper....I mean Matts! Lol Nice video and nice catch. I'm sure the trout tasted great. Btw, if you should ever find yourself some down time, watch an old Sci-fi movie "The Beginning of the End" with Peter Graves starring. Those 8'-10' grasshoppers will probably get even! Lol enjoy.😅

“I’ll have to use my sock. It’s clean just so you know” bahahaha gave me a good chuckle 😂
Just got back from camping (fishing, hunting, riding etc) and this is the first YT channel I checked 🔥
The grasshopers have an exoskeleton band near the front legs on their back. If you run the hook through that they'll live longer.
I’m really loving these trout videos. Thank you for providing awesome content as always!
SATURDAY JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT BETTER!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
thank you for doing what you do! It brings me so much peace seeing you live your best life

Such a cool video. Always so peaceful when you can catch & cook & camp. 😎
Love it how you catch your own bait
Awesome stuff. Just came back from a fishing near Lassen Park. Got a 19 inch rainbow and a smaller 9 inch.

Hey bud, Just moved here from TX and back there we call those Cave Crickets! Nice Fish!
Use your net and slowly lift up the stones, crawdads/crayfish only come out at night. They spend all day under the stones. Put your net in front of the rock as you lift.

That's crazy how you let the bigger fish go, I would have ate them both! Or at least the bigger one.
Lots of respect for nature you love to see it.
Man, catching bugs for bait brings back so many memories.
I’ve been subscribed to you for years on a different account, just realized I wasn’t subscribed on this one! You just earned another sub!
9:42 the trick to catching trout was calling them grasshoppers crickets. Trout loves crickets more than grasshoppers.
Bro my eyes got sea sick but it was cool ride Thank you for all you do Awesome videos !
Crickets! Some habits never die!

Thank you for living the dream for us mere mortals.
You should pick up a cricket cage for those hoppers and crickets. Keeps em in good shape until you use them. Oh, hook them through the collar .
you need a clear water bobber. You can also hook them in the collar it will keep them alive.
Great video as always. Your rigging seems to be working great but if you want to try a different way you can thread the hook under the “collar” scale just behind the head. That’s how I’ve always done it.
3:29 come on man, you know better! 😔

happy thanksgiving man
Grasshopper never failed
Watching your video from korea
Awesome video Matts. Thank you
Awesome video! Miss the shots you had in the past where it zoomed in on the bobber going down or when the rod tip would be triggered.
When you said your stomach hurt and THEN you didnt eat dinner 😅 ... Lol

Have you ever done a cleanse in case you have worms from all these wild fish
Awesome video, I always enjoy your content!
And yes, crickets are the best bait..ooh I mean Grasshoppers 😂
The big hopper you caught was an armored cricket
Nice job. Next week try a water bobber, ( a bobber you put water inside, for casting weight ) and try a small jig instead of a hook. Can't be beat.
Man i love these spots that you find. I’m here in San Jose, I feel like this place looks a little familiar!
where is this at?
Hey Matts!!!!,
Back to crickets instead of grasshoppers. You crack me!
Blessings from the desert southwest.

Wow beautiful fish
You should just call them cricket hoppers. Great video.
nice trout beautiful country good video
Always a good watch
It’s late in the season. We normally hit the river around August. That smallmouth is good eating, you’re missing out.

I have always use a cricket as bait for trout. Try using a treble hook for trout or size 4 hook
Excellent catch and cook!
Cool video, thanks for sharing.
Nice u made it to fourth bridge.
I had a Californiia King for several years. His name was Beetlejuice.
great video
Cool treatment an awesome reptile
The cricket is the ticket!
Man you need to start adding some onions, garlic, etc into your food that would have been amazing with that. Great video as always tho!!
Heck yeah love the vids
