I had to show my wife the clip when you threw the trout back by accident. She did the same a few years ago when we were fishing with her parents. We all stood there in shock as she accidentally tossed the fish she just caught back in the water. 😂 One of our favorite fishing moments.
I had a shitty week. Murphy's Law kicked my @ss. Watching this one made me remember we all have times like that. Tough times don't last but tough people do. I always enjoy your adventures and will be at the fair. Peace.
The excitement for the trout is so relatable. Less than 24 hours before this post I caught my PB rainbow and have a ten minute clip of me acting and sounding the exact way
Thank you for sharing the importance of lifejackets. I was a Park Supervisor on a busy river and sadly beautiful peaceful days on the water turn deadly in a heartbeat. Lifejackets save lives. Wonderful videos!
Been watching your videos for many years and I still get excited whenever you post a new one. Thanks for all the great content and advise you’ve given over the years!
What a wonderful and meaningful experience to camp alone on a lake with a $75 boat and a solar panel! You truly are a camping expert! And I am a floating village life from Vietnam.
I caught fish fever and paused the video half way to fish and caught a brownie first cast lol. Now time to finish the video. Thanks for the motivation. Awesome videos cheers 🍻 fishing The Bow river in Calgary, Alberta. Brownie bros
Love this. Hope you realize how fortunate you are to have secluded, wilderness fishing and camping, easily accessible,in some of the most gorgeous country on earth (I've traveled a lot). From the $75 watercraft, to scenes of losing fish, to the mystery of the battery and the volts, you are just getting out there and fishing. Spin and Fly. You're awesome dude.
Just proves how real and great your videos are! You did not have to post the part where you lost the fish, but you did!!!! Deer looked good, never tried it.
like the 2 roles of thumb is always keep the fish in the net until you are well away from the water and 2nd role is always have the net siting next to your casting area so you can grab it whenever
I dont use less than 6lb test... with right rod/reel set up I can still cast smaller lures pretty far...4/2 is just too iffy for me in AR. Down here you'll be going after rainbows and end up with a 10lb catfish on the same lure lol
It was great watching your fishing videos again. Thanks for getting out there and making new ones. BTW my son and I will see you again at your street fair. Cheers and take care! 😊
Hey Matt! Awesome fish, and yes, I was looking forward to finding out if bigger was not necessarily better, but hey it happens. Also, as far as the deer meat goes, I have ate it for 61 years now and the bad taste you were expecting comes from how the meat was processed, if there is any fat or what is called silver skin left on the meat you will get that bad gamey taste because deer fat, unlike other animals, goes rancid really fast. So as long as the fat and silver skin is removed before cooking or freezing, it is a very good, lean, tender meat. PS, the deer's diet, ie grass vs nuts, can make a small difference also.
Using a 75 dollar boat puts things into perspective. For that price dude was able to get out on the water and dish. You don’t need a 50k plus boat to catch fish.
Cool to see someone else has so much bad luck on a fishing trip. Don’t worry brother we all have those days where nothing seems to go right. Great reality video .
6 is a good overall for me, can pull in most anything, and still pretty light. One thing I seem to notice is your hook set, nail them like you're trying to pull them right out of the water. love the shopping tote, and back pack pouch!
When my friend and I fish rooster tails we always give the lure a little jerk when we start retrieving to start the blade spinning. Also we only use 2lb trilene XL and when casting we always point straight to where we cast and that lowers your chances of the line catching on the rod tip or a guide that snaps your line. Also my buddy is from southern cali and he uses 1” firecracker tubes with a 1/64-1/32pz tapered jig head and used to catch a ton of trout.
2nd Rod stamp! That's crazy. When you go to the bathroom, you can wipe forward, but if you want to wipe backwards you are going to need another stamp for that.
just for future reference, you always want to connect the battery to the charge controller before you connect the solar panel. doing it the other way can damage the charge controller if it is older or cheap, but also connecting the battery first lets the charge controller basically read the battery and figure out if it's 12v or 24v and things like that. so you could have some real problems if you connect them in the wrong order, but if you're lucky the charge controller will just be like "yo, something's wrong, i'm not gonna do anything" and it won't even try to charge the battery, or it will charge it slowly. also, solar panels do not like shade. even the tiniest bit of shade, like if 1% of the panel is in shade, the panel will barely work, if at all, especially with cheap panels like that. so if you make sure it's in full sun, then you will probably get at least 2x the charging power from it
"my rice pudding, my glock, and my flashlight" killed meeeeeeeeee. seriously my favorite video since you dropped a crab that one time. loved the scenery and that trout moment. cool solar panel set up too!!
Ever think about a waterproof "spinner sticker kit" and a dozen "Blank" lures? So you can customize your lure without carrying a huge tacklebox. Could have many different "colored/pattern stickers" one for fresh water and another for salt. Make em' easily removable. Keep on fishin'! Love them Gold/Black Panther Martin in Alaska. Grayling slayers!
Despite the wide success of Panther Martin and Roostertail lures on catching fish, (I too have had my share, even used the exact same lures shown), the spinner blades can twist your line into a mess. (Whereas Rapala type lures won't do that unless they are fouled while you've been trolling). You mentioned a wind knot and losing another lure on your cast and using 2-6lb test line. The weakened and tightly twisted compressed light line is how that can happen, let alone your spool fouling up when you open the bail and or try to cast and the fouled line gets caught in the guides. Another way line gets twisted while spin fishing is when fighting a fish and the drag is going out but the angler is winding the reel at the same time. That too only spins the line into a twisted mess and why fishermen eventually have to discard line and or re-spool so often. To circumvent this problem, I let my line unravel after every cast (reach your rod straight overhead and let the line/lure go down to 2" into the water and watch it counter spin until neutral) and then, I only cast say 10-15 times before switching out lures to a non spinnerbait style. It doesn't eliminate the problem but it can delay it. Just my two cents of an opinion, fish on brother.
I'm in agreement with others that 2lb.mono is too light. My go to choice is 4lb. mono for what you are doing and SOP for teaching kids/beginners is to use Stren clear blue fluorescent because its so easy to keep track of out of the water. 4lb. handles a tip wrapped or bail snagged line without breaking off far better than 2lb. mono. Another issue could be you got some old monofilament, so check the date of manufacture on your 2lb. that you have and replace it if its older than 3-4 years.
Hey Matt’s,… another great video. Constructive criticism; You may need a stronger solar panel, maybe not enough watts for a 12v battery. Enjoyed the video 👍🏻
Hey Matt, can you do a video going over all your rods and reels and what you use the each for? It would be great to know some good equipment you recommend and also what you choose to use each of them for.
You're a better man than I am Matts, I'd have to bleep out or cut out a good chunk of the video if that happened to me. Regardless, relish the PB moment. As to the venison, you are most likely eating the back strap if it is tender and "not gamey". Best cut of the deer.
Not sure about you but, I use 8lb power pro super slick braid with 6-8ft 6lb mono lead. I never lose lures lol. My rod setup is a 7ft medium Shimano Expride with a shinano FL 2500. I put nothing about 8lb on it.
@fishermanslife I love your videos! Have you ever thought about drawing out on a white piece of paper what your fishing rig looks like? I got lost when you kept talking about swivels but would love to see a simple diagram that I could screen shot for reference.
You were on the fence with letting him go anyways, that's just fate :)
I had to show my wife the clip when you threw the trout back by accident. She did the same a few years ago when we were fishing with her parents. We all stood there in shock as she accidentally tossed the fish she just caught back in the water. 😂 One of our favorite fishing moments.

You know what I appreciate MOST. You are a HOT MESS! but you share your entire experience. That's worth watching everytiime!

Damn dude I love your long videos. They're so peaceful
Been watching your videos for many years and I still get excited whenever you post a new one.
Thanks for all the great content and advise you’ve given over the years!
Your excitement from getting that trout was infectious!
I love your videos for how much you love making them
It was so relatable too. Less than 24 hours before this post I caught my PB rainbow and have a ten minute clip of me acting and sounding the exact way
the mountain creek/lake fishing videos never disappoint my only complaint is that they arent longer lol
the best part of camping to me is the down time by the fire or before bed playing games, or drinking and playing card games with friends
really? I thought it would have been setting up the tent...
@@GFkilla17 naw that's for my kids to do while I relax
I had no idea there was a fisherman out there who is more disorganised than me. I feel you man😂
What a wonderful and meaningful experience to camp alone on a lake with a $75 boat and a solar panel! You truly are a camping expert! And I am a floating village life from Vietnam.
Gosh dang 75 for boat and motor. Score!❤🎉 lucky man! Thanks Matts🎣🏕🏞🛶
good to see you still posting fam, you got me through my first break up and been a follower for 5+ years
That is a lucky fish 😂😂
I caught fish fever and paused the video half way to fish and caught a brownie first cast lol. Now time to finish the video. Thanks for the motivation. Awesome videos cheers 🍻 fishing The Bow river in Calgary, Alberta. Brownie bros
You need a permit to breathe in California
But you can eat the fish out the water and breathe the air.
Hahahahaa this was my mind the entire video
I just feel at peace watching the videos, I love when your out by the rivers, ocean looks scary!
Love this. Hope you realize how fortunate you are to have secluded, wilderness fishing and camping, easily accessible,in some of the most gorgeous country on earth (I've traveled a lot). Thanks for the video and personally I appreciate there is no royalty free music on this one.
Two tangles in the motor, two lost lures, and a lost fish. We all have had those days. Great video.
Thanks for vid Matts. I truly look forward to seeing your latest adventure. Keep em coming.
Hey Matts! Thank you for uploading and everything you do!!
Just proves how real and great your videos are! You did not have to post the part where you lost the fish, but you did!!!! Deer looked good, never tried it.
you have so much positive vibration I can feel it through the screen bro
That brown would have been soooooo delicious. Love fishing those lakes.
You got it on video anyway. That was what mattered. If a fish manages to escape, then it deserves its freedom 😁
I hope someday you get to experience tasting pan fried ELK. Best tasting game I have ever had!
Loving the variety of content you are posting lately as long as you are safe keep them coming theybare very enjoyable
Ooh man that was a heartbreaker but I appreciate you showing the hardships that things don’t always go perfect 👍🏽
like the 2 roles of thumb is always keep the fish in the net until you are well away from the water and 2nd role is always have the net siting next to your casting area so you can grab it whenever
rule not role.

Saturday morning Fishermans life, hell ya brother
Man that loss brown was diabolical 😭😭😭😂
It was great watching your fishing videos again. Thanks for getting out there and making new ones. BTW my son and I will see you again at your street fair. Cheers and take care! 😊
Thats a huge brown trout.
Awesome
The best part about Matt is that he's human :)

We need that NWFS collab since your doing trout too
Caught a two pound brown from a creek and ate it, personally tasted pretty good. Great video!
I'm not disappointed it got away. Too pretty to kill. It was meant to be free. Bravo. Ps
..a clear bubble with the flies work well.
That video was so hilarious and entertaining.
Cool to see someone else has so much bad luck on a fishing trip. Don’t worry brother we all have those days where nothing seems to go right. Great reality video .
Wasn’t disappointed because I’m not eating it. Not being sarcastic, but it was a good laugh. Lucky trout!

Awesome video! Sucks the trout got away but the whole trip seems so nice!
Nice to see the butter consumption has lowered!
love your videos Man and Investing in a Thermocell was a game changer for me when Camping or fishing by lakes.
I run a 10lbs in in Arizona. The trout here are pretty good size. For me brown trout taste better darker meat and a little more oilier 🤤
Irl live stream of you fishing would be so cool
love your videos!
Big fan of the common man videos
Got the notification never left a different video so quickly
so great brother that happy when looking your video
That trout was for sure a paid actor.
You gotta get a deep cycle battery for that trolling motor! It won’t die so fast
Yeah you need some stronger line for sure, might work good for smaller sized Crappies tho :)
Also the thumbnail is awesome. Sick work bromigo
Note to self, add mosquito net hat
It was such a good catch an such a crazy loss it happens to all of us I'm feeling that one
That lake has a spirit
This video, reminded me how camping and fishing at lakes and bugs suck !
Looking forward to the fisherman’s life Street fair 🎣

It’s 1 am and I work tomorrow morning but here I am
Get to bed
that fish will live to tell a story
100% supporter. And yes, never 2lb test!…. Unless it’s at the end of a FF rig, and then, ugh.

You let that big fish get away Matt... you trippin dude 😂
2 lb test? Really? I usually never go below 6! Lost lures on snags and bigger trout! Great video! 😂👍
Let’s go can’t wait to see this meal again

16:13 Goofed 😂 awesome video love these ✅
When I used to go backpacking in the Sierra lakes, I would turn over rocks and look for insects. I would always crush it.
2 lb test for lake fishing? I go straight 6 without a leader with those heavier lures and bigger fish, 4 for creeks etc
Did you have to get a pooping permit? 😂 freakin government sucks bro!
You're a better man than I am Matts, I'd have to bleep out or cut out a good chunk of the video if that happened to me. Regardless, relish the PB moment.
