Man, I was obsessed with this game. It had such an amazing online community as well, I still remember the names of all the people I played with on the UK servers. I used to love running around as a medic reviving people and running insanely fast. I remember the sniping being very fun as well. On top of that, it had a really good map editor which let people create some amazing custom maps, both PvP and PvE. Great throwback!

Oh, I've heard good things about the on-line multiplayer on it. There's probably someone out there still running a server.

The community was great. I was 15 when I was playing and my squad mates were some older dudes that knew each other from Canada. They were so nice when they found out I was using a small crt monitor they sent me a nice new one. They even sent out gifts for Xmas. Wish I could remember their names. The squad was called 3dx. There was also another team called B.O.D. for brothers of darkness I was on for a little bit but they were weirdos.

That was a lovely video to watch.
I watched that movie once, and the part that sticked with me forever when a soldier shamed another into leaving the night goggles behind, for the short daylight mission.
Past summer I went into a hike, planning to come back before the night of course. No need for the flashlight, right? Before I left the hostel I went and grabbed it (along with umbrella). As it turned out, after finishing the hike that evening I missed the last bus from the end point back to the town, had to walk 20km beside the highway, most of which was in a dark, moonless night.
(bringing a flashlight into travels has helped me multiple times already, unexpectedly)

Thanks! And hey that's an interesting story. In Brazil we have a saying that says a well prepared man is worth 10 men. So there's that lol. I'm glad you managed to get back safely.

Wow SUCRA very fully and nice video! I played almost all but still remember the first clearly but especially more when the Black hawk down released. And even when I played the game 10 years later again still was very good experience. Of course the story its very Intense. I will wait now this version that you mentioned. 🙂

well done. i do remember playing this game on ps2, was pretty fun, had some insta-kill like moments in missions, causing some grumbling retries. and when i saw the clip of the original game i saw comanche immediately, a game i did play on pc.

Hey Chris! Thanks, man. Oh the XP 1800 is way more capable than what I used. Performance I got was strange, considering the Tualatin 1133 is quite faster than the minimum requirements, but whatever. I should try it with a faster CPU next time.

Loved this game. In 03 when i was 15 i got caught with weed and put on house arrest. And for some reason the custom pc my dad ordered came with BHD. I started playing online and was quickly recruited to a squad called Brothers of Darkness😂 it was ran by a husband and wife from the midwest. The squad was trash though and I let them know. I was kicked shortly after. Then I was picked up by a team called 3dx which was a bunch of 20-40 year old dudes from Canada. Won the king of the hill championship with them. After that was joint ops and that game was awesome and ahead of its time. Wish i stayed in touch with the guys from 3dx but once i got my license girls and partying was all i cared about.😂

I was so excited when the Novalogic Blackhawk Down video game beta servers launched in the summer of 2003. After awhile people started making their own modded maps and hosting them on custom servers. They didn't have much to work with at that point (shipping containers were the centerpiece of most maps) but it was fun and exciting gameplay. I was disappointed that none of the couple dozen people I normally played with online seemed excited about the game. But we were still having fun playing Novalogic's Delta Force Joint Ops (which had maps and missions set in Afganistan).
After the full game launched, me and my online friends weren't overly impressed with the single player part of the game, but none of us really played the Novalogic Delta Force games for the single player. We loved the multiplayer and Black Hawk Down started to grow on them, especially after I started hosting a custom BHD server that went up after our regular Joint Ops server went down. I was in love with m203 'nade launcher and got a real thrill out of well placed claymore kills. After some months we were mostly playing on BHD servers and started challenging other squads to matches on Best of 3 or Best of 5 standard maps. We were a group of guys (and a few gals) from the US and Australia and played under the tag -Ozi-. I was in charge of finding other squads to play and arranging the matches and we had a pretty solid match team with a respectable win-loss ratio. It was one of the most enjoyable periods of my life.

Correction: My squad was playing Delta Force Task Force Dagger (aka TFD) when the Black Hawk Down game came not Joint Operations.(which came out in 2004).
