My husband and I have been together since May 1991 and married since February 1993. I’ve been really ill since January 2019. I nearly died in May 2020. He’s looked after me. He’s been amazing but also very kind to me. I wouldn’t have made it without him. This is our song ♥️
This song was played heavily when I was 18 sat in the desert in Saudi Arabia in 1991. Waiting to go over the border into Iraq. That would come 24th Feb. 30 years ago this year. Reminds me of being carefree even though I was barely an adult and in my first war. I got there (home). This beautiful song reminds me of my colleagues who didn't.
I was in basic training in the Army at depot REME ........we didnt have the regimental band when we had our pass out parade in march 1991 , they were all in the Gulf in the first gulf war as stretcher bearers
reminds of my sister it was her song for my nephew when he was in the gulf war pleased to say he got home and finished 22 years sadly my sister passed 20 year ago respect to all so many boys went away and never came back plus also changed so many people my nephew came back but never the same person he was 20 when he went xxx

This song always makes me think of my late father, who I dearly miss. We lost him March 2023. Every day I just wish I could talk to him one more time and tell him "Thank you" 😢 He was 86 and had a fantastic life and was an amazing father and life coach. ❤

I have always loved this song. When I was a young boy in the early 90's, this song played on the radio quite often. Now that I'm in a position where the only person I love is in a different country to where I am, this song has gained so much meaning. With us in the midst of Covid-19 and not knowing what the future holds, I have never missed anyone like I do right now. When I was in the cardiac unit of a hospital 20 years ago, a nurse kindly gave me the vinyl LP of Oletta singing this song. As good today as then, and also a treat to hear her with Tears for Fears, "Woman in Chains" Terrific voice.
I bought her record at that time and I never stop hearing it for decades. A total masterpiece., by a gifted and sincere singer and musician. Her voice is a miracle, so beautifully churchy, intense,...everything she sings becomes a sort of prayer.
This song and the way Oleta sings it is a miracle. She is so so special. It never fails to bring me to tears of happiness. What a talent! And very beautiful! I wish I could have found someone with such depth of feeling in my life!
