The best idea to make your tank last long you change the Rod in the tank yearly. I've install a six year tank now its twelve year . I cannot get the rod in the tank out...

Should the cold water shut off valve to a water heater should always be closed once the tank is filled?

Do you have to leave open the water supply valve after water filling is complete? Thanks

why are you filtering the sediment when it's going down the drain

Maybe because it's going down the drain...
therefore could cause issues in the piping? That's just a guess though

@@horstakarl1960 the bottom of the water heaters are convex the sediment deposit settles in bottom an ends up along the sides of water heater tank over the years it settles an compacts flushing doesn’t not loosen up those tightly settled deposits .

Use 2 ft. FLEX HOSE..In and Out Angle the Tank to Drain Pull the Element and Flush with Garden Hose and Replace the Elements at the same time.. I do this Every 2 to 4 years Elements start to De-Grade in 2 years Elementos for 50 gal. Tank Cost $60..00 Both, Américan Made , Replace the Anode too. I had a 50 Gal Tank last 28 yrs. and Stayed with the House when I Sold it still working Fine. De-Graded Elements Draw more Power to Trip the Tremostat. Wrap the Tank with a Quality Tank Blanket. Put a Shut off Switch close to the Tank for when you go on Vaca. for more than 3 Days. If the Tank is sitting on Concrete a 2 Inch Ridgid Foam Insulation Piece $12.00 meant for Water Tanks could Save some $$. They Claim 4 to 9 %
