      @@ridleylegassy That's not necessarily true. Many parents do know about their children's mental health issues, but due to the huge lack of understanding of mental health in this country, many of them simply do not care. I know too many people who struggle with severe depression and have been told by their parents for their whole lives that they are just "weak minded" and "have nothing to be depressed about" and do absolutely nothing to help them. Its far easier to dismiss the problems and "move on" than it is to actually deal with them, and this destroys a lot of kids lives. The unfortunate reality is that this kind of stuff still happens even with shit like personality disorders, schizo disorders, etc.

    • @brians1793
      @brians1793 3 ปีที่แล้ว +72

      It's not always that simple, especially for men these days. I'd literally rather kill myself than give up on family and just experience the same bullshit with society(or worse) as I did with a narcissistic abusive family including my dad and older brothers who enabled my twin sister to be extremely controlling and abusive to me. When you're young you tend to assume if your own family is so shitty to you, other people MUST be worse. What am I going to do, accept not owning my own place and being a slave as a grown man to a society as shitty as this one has become to men? Or I could do my best to save up $10-15k a year to actually at least own my own place in a few years, not be in debt, not have substance abuse problems, ect. But even then at this point I either want to live off-grid and stop 'giving back' to society or just kill myself to 'get out'.
      And believe me, I'd be a million times better off if I didn't care as much as I do about family and just gave up on them 15 years ago or so or even just 5, I'd be so much better off. But I can't just magically not care as much as I actually do, to a point where it's negatively affected every other aspect of my life besides my family life in and of itself. In my case I at least lived/worked on the family farm(also would ALWAYS be there when worker wouldn't show up, even when I was up until 5am drinking, working on the farm after 2 hours of sleep) or work 2-3 jobs, and don't pay rent but I'm not a PITA and definitely do shit around the house. But for years I was a functional alcoholic and my parents didn't even know, I haven't drank enough to be an alcoholic in 5+ years though but go through around 2 ounces of kratom a day, and before I could get some locally affordably I'd spend $40 a day in a pinch if I really had to, rather than walk away from jobs and shit and get 'help'. But that's going much better now, I'm really serious about diet and am spending a lot on high quality food, but should still be able to save up at least $10k a year from now on and pay off debt without having to compromise on high quality food which is also really important to me. I'm really starting to see the ways in which modern society is enslaving most people, diet is one of them, rent is another if you have a landord. At least if it's your parents money is staying in the family.
      It's mostly the same bullshit growing up with truth getting punished in family and realizing I'll never become the man I was always meant to be, with OR without family at this point. There's really not much I can do anymore, my childish pathetic dad intentionally went out of his way to prevent me from becoming a man if anything, and my whole family had ways of teaming up on me to force co-dependency relationships on me when I didn't need them, and I was actually VERY eager to grow up and become a man as soon as I hit puberty.

      @@starlord157 Placing blame and stress on my family lol, do you think I actually tell them? I've been the scapegoat my whole life, they're the ones constantly blaming me for shit regardless of who is actually at fault and I'd just stay silent and take it because for the most part I knew I could and they can't take blame for shit plus the whole family just teams up on me if I try standing up for myslef, even the so-called 'man' of the house. I have every right and reason to blame family, my parents are the reason I came into this world, I didn't sign myself up for this shit. I didn't pick my twin sister like a man marries a woman, you can't so easily leave a fucked up relationship like that, where my relationship with her has been bad enough to make a romantic relationship not worth the risk for the small chance of reward. You have no idea what it's like, and my point is more the fact that my only option to leave sooner rather than later would be renting which is basically accepting becoming a slave to society when a better option would be wait a few years, save up, and actually own my own place. I wasn't posting that to look for sympathy either, most people don't actually understand what a fucked up ass-backwards world of shit we're in and how bad it's going to get.
      Not to mention what I mean by I'd rather kill myself, it's just my way of saying I'm just that loyal and tend to be more self-sacrificial than I should be, I can't help it sometimes it's just my personality. Only in the end to realize how many undeserving people can exploit and abuse otherwise good qualities in good people, and my whole life my own family has taught me to do the exact opposite of what I needed to learn to do with almost everything as a boy doing their best to grow up and become a man.

    As a medic, one of my most hated things was when WebMD became a thing. Patients would have a laundry list of illnesses and demand you treat them based on that. When asked as part of the SAMPLE, if they'd been diagnosed with those issues previously and what treatments they recieved they'd be entirely clueless and admit they found it on a website.
    Now it's self-diagnosed via TikTok where 'experts' don't have a disclaimer stating they have done literally nothing in the field of medicine.
    The only pronouns a person gets are their name and a nickname. Since 'fighter pilot' names are nicknames typically given to men, henceforth, this person shall be known as:
    Green Hag
    The above qualifies their phenotype, genotype, piercings, hair color and attitude.
    That is all.

    When I was younger, 16, my father passed quite suddenly from suicide. It was a rough time, me and him did everything together and he was a great man and mentor. My mother got with another fellow a year and a half later I believe. He was awful, abusive to my mother, physically, he was mentally abusive to me and my sister. I left to stay with my grandparents a few weeks after an incident happened with him, I won't specify but it could have become violent had I not left. I know what mental abuse looks like, I know one can only take so much before you have to leave. I love my mother, who got away from him finally, but I find I can't forgive her for putting me and my sister into a scenario like that. She has now moved on to marry another man, who is a pretty cool guy, but I mean come on, dead husband, then two men in the span of 4 years?? AND expects me to just move on from such actions and pretend like none of it happened? Oh well...sorry for the rant, none of it was a massive deal I suppose

I did not once in all that time complain or tell others "woe is me boo hoo boo poor me im sick blah blah blah", I sucked it up even though it was hard. i was raised by grandparents who lived thru hard times WWII the depression etc... we were taught to work hard with the hand we were dealt , and to remember others have it hard to. being of an older generation myself, we have something this generation lacks, morals, character moral ethics responsibility and taking pride in our work among other things. I just "love it" when someone will go on an on for *hours* how there parent(s) is *SO* abusive an such a daily struggle to deal with. But they won't move out! If one were truly being SO emotionally damaging to ya why haven't you completely skip out on them then? Could it be the free room food and entertainment?
    I've never been able to stand folks like this, it's like walking on glass round them allways demanding outhers to change to make them happy. There is no pleasing them, they are a forever victim and anyone calls them on it then they are "abusive" too. We had to kick my steap sister out for acting near exactly like this for 8 YEARS only with a lot more violence. Years of accomodations, therapy, doctors visits and bending over backwards to help her. But ultimately the only thing found wrong with her was anger issues and no impulse control.
    Every wall in her room, door and hall leading to it had holes from her many "meltdowns" that she'd claim she "blacked out" on from all the stress we were causing her. All for the crime of asking her to clean up her room- or what we called her nest. That's it! Only clean an unbroken space in there was her computer and desk with a track from her door to her chair and bed. It was just hell.
