I'd love to see more of the OG planets get fleshed out in "canon" Star Wars. Not just Tatooine, but planets like Naboo, Corellia, Dantooine, and so on. As someone who used to play Star Wars Galaxies, I'm excited to see Bestine and Wayfar in this game!
Heck yeah seeing more of Dantooine and Corellia would be dope since we've seen very little of the two. The only time we got to see Dantooine was in the 2003 Clone Wars Mini Series where Mace Windu fought off an entire Droid Army with nothing but his bare hands and the force, such a bad ass moment too. Still it is a lush farmland type land so having that exploreable and expanding on it would be pretty cool no less.
I thought the same thing when i saw those towns were going to be in the game. I was into SWG from the beginning. Still have the CD’s in an old carrying case
Lucasfilm doesn't do that though. They keep making up new planets that just look like canon planets from Lucas. It's pathetic and generic. Probably a good thing with their horrible fan fiction.
Dantooine was in KOTOR too is was pretty cool, I wanna see more of Naboo and kamino
one that i would love to get shown more is Rodia, i did allot of research on the planet, its history, Rodians (im playing a Rodian bounty hunter in a edge of the empire campaign) and its actually so cool and interesting, i have had alot of fun deep diving into how growing up there would affect a person and how they grow and develop later on when exposed to the rest of the world, unfortunately there are no real good depictions from what i have found that show Rodia, only the awsome lore that i have been able to find around the internet, and a short showing of rodia in the clonewars where what we did get to see was not at all like Rodia is on average in lore, just interacting with like 1 politician from there.
Unpopular Opinion: Tatooine isn’t overdone (or desert planets in general). It’s crucial to Star Wars.

And like you said it's crucial to star was and Bombastic made a point as well it would be weird if tatooine wasn't in the game since it's a scoundrel game tatooine is literally a scoundrel paradise of a planet it is a big part of the underworld crime area in th galaxy. And if I may add a personal opinion note. Some people are dumb and love to complain just for the sake of it. Like they say, one thing they don't like about a game and then when/if it gets taken out, they complain about how it's gone like for example apparently peopl3 wanted the national pokedex gone in the pokemon games and when it did get taken out they complained about how it was gone now I could be remembering all of that wrong and I know this is a star wars game video and discussion and pokemon has nothing to do with that but I'm trying to make a point and I think it still stands

Not having Tatooine in a scoundrel Star Wars game would be criminal. Especially given the point in time that this game takes place. It's used a lot, but it's also the most important planet in Star Wars. We can finally explore it in an open world setting for the first time.

I think some people might still be hesitant from the initial release state of jedi survivor that isnt even fully fixed still on pc. That being said i am so cautiously optimistic for this game. Ubisoft does not instill confidence in me but that doesn't mean the game cant be fun

Completely agree. I expect this to be like a Hogwarts Legacy. Not a game of the year contender, but just a fun, enjoyable Star Wars adventure. And that's all I want from it.

Yeah, I honesty think most people who say there tired of Tatooine are just tired of Star Wars.
I somewhat disagree.
Star Wars is an entire universe of thousands of planets, but for the last couple of years, you keep seeing THAT one DESERT planet all the time.
If I didn't know any better its to save money on reused assets. Also, miles of barren land is easier to create than a full cityscape like Coruscant.
And that criticism comes BEFORE the horrible movie, comics and TV shows that came out which further hurts the brand.

Not to mention that Tattooine is the center of crime in the outer rim, specifically where Jabba the Hutt has his center of operations. You can be tired of it, but it’s very much an important planet, especially when considering the whole point of this game so it to not be in this game specifically would make a lot less sense than it being there.

People would rather see more unique conflicts other than typical crime ring crap, like searching for force artifacts before some shady group collects them, political drama or reports of planets going "dark" and having to investigate.

You couldn't explore Tatooine before. Except in SW Galaxies, KOTOR 1-2, Lego SW, and The Old Republic MMO
How many of those games let you go out past Mos Eisley? Not really a great example, especially when Lego SW the skywalker saga was terrible on exploration or showing off the world all around.

Star Wars: Galaxies was open world, and you could explore everything on Tatooine. On release even major landmarks like Jabba's Palace were unmapped and you had to figure out how to find them. But it's not a game most people could experience now and pretty thin by modern standards. Since you enjoy open world Star Wars you might try an emulation server.

Andrew, you should really check out Star Wars Galaxies, the first *actual* open-world Star Wars game and also the first Star Wars MMO. You could literally play however you wanted; you could play the entire game as a bartender, you could track down Rebels for the Empire, and there was even a system to build your own city with friends.
Once you earned enough credits, you could also buy your own ship that could land, takeoff from planets, and yes jump to lightspeed.
It's no longer online, but there are plenty of private servers that let you get a taste of what it was like.
Star wars Galaxies(2003) was the first truly open world star wars game, you had the whole galaxy that you could explore. You can still play it through dedicated servers
Yes, my biggest issue with this mission is the AI enemies. When kay first opens fire, how the hell does everybody not realise they're under attack? THEY'RE RIGHT THERE.
I'm glad you like the game, and I might get it discounted. But.. Tatooine was open world 20 years ago in Star Wars Galaxies and a few years ago in the LEGO Skywalker Saga game.
And in KOTOR and SWTOR
And most of the tv shows are on a sand planet too
Seeing the troop transport near the end of the video really geeked me out. It was one of my favorite toys as a kid. And yes, I know it has appeared in other stuff, like Rebels, but it just looks great here. I can't wait for this game!
First open world? No. SWTOR came out 12 years ago.

Its be cool if you have the option to go to lukes house, the closer you get you slowly black out and return to the roaming area with a faint whisper of Obi-Wan telling you this is not the place your looking for as a nod to him protecting luke and knowing Kay may pose a threat and lead the empire to luke. So you get a cameo, in canon reason for not going to find luke and a nod to a new hope during the imperial checkpoint when they were look for C3PO and R2D2. Just a thoguht 🎉

I don’t think it’s bad I think the scope and story have potential. The ai needs work, her facial animations look off, and it needs more polish. That could be said about any game previewing though

The only thing I'm judging this on is that the blaster, explosion, and other particle effects look really rough. Hopefully they're improved in the full release, but given the graphical standards of recent Star Wars games, they just don't cut it.
jedi survivor isnt even fully fixed on pc, i just dont expect an optimized game at this point
So, if we apply whataboutism, excuse the mission because it's 'optional', "lower our expectations", and ignore uninspired location choices, the game is good? Keep in mind, THIS IS THE LEVEL THEY CHOSE TO HIGHLIGHT. You're trying to tell me that when they decided to show gameplay - an appeal to us to buy their game - they chose a sub-par level with unfinished/bad graphics? Stop making excuses. Trailers and showcases is entirely made to interest us or hook us to buying the game so yes we are allowed to judge the showcase because they chose to specifically show that part to us. We shouldn't judge the entire game but it should be in consideration seeing how they are trying to sell us a product. Thats just marketing

Facial animations in rpgs are like due to custom characters and them not being able to scan a face in…. Ubisoft scanned her face in and it still looks clunky and bad sooo
yet the default models likenesses are scanned from real people too and still look like that,
I feel like Ubi's really been dropping the ball particularly when it comes to facial animations.
I mean, look at AC Mirage. Half the cutscenes in that game straight up look unfinished.
That is objectively wrong, how the faces get into the game is not relevant in how the faces are animated.
After you said the player finds themself hurdling across Tatooine, my immediate thought was "Tatooine, why must we always go to Tatooine?" And then that was immediately followed by you saying "Another thing a lot of people are criticizing is the fact that we are back on Tatooine," and I just found that absolutely hilarious.

It will be on sale a month or two after release knowing Ubisoft. Ubisoft itself is the biggest thing making me hesitate, my feelings on that studio are like Mace Windu about Anakin, I don't trust them but I know for a fact I'm not paying 60+ dollars for this unless the word of mouth is absolutely phenomenal.
Nope space marine 2 came few days later so ill wait for reviews and grab it in 3 month, if its good, at half the price, maybe.
I would like there to be more variety in games, and I would also like it if more star wars games were like in an experimental and innovative place in videogames like they were back in the 90s and 2000s.
But this game in particular was pitched as a big ol' open world, and this is kinda the nature of most open worlds, and they're popular for a reason. Big open world games don't tend to be very systems-driven, they're big playgrounds with attractions for you to visit and missions for you to go through. I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of that it's going to be what it was planned to be. The need for Disney to let more studios play around more with the license is a separate issue.

And as someone who loves the Division and Ghost Recon.
As far as I see it's on that level.

I'm not too worried about game play. And the immersive world they creat Ubisoft Massive seems to do that very very well.

I also like Tomb Raider but what I hate about Tomb Raider is how short it is and the lack of replay ability Devs expecting me to pay full price or more and I can beat the game in a few hrs and I don't even max everything out before I get to the end?
I'm more concerned about this turning into Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Where you have to pay to get threw the story.
And it not taking very long before you get there. And they are asking for $70? And it is the most basic version with content behind a pay wall? I probably get Bulder's gate 3 before I get star wars outlaws.

If we’re talking Ubisoft games, then Outlaws looks gorgeous. If we’re comparing it to anything else, it looks like a game graphics and animations from 2017 or earlier

Ubisoft has always(last 7 years) at facial animations, writing, world building, this makes me nervous for outlaws, seeing facial animations still being and issue and the writing sounding out of place. With other games theyve released its ruined immersion hoping it wont be the case for outlaws. We will see
I'll get the game eventually on a sale, but I definitely am glad I decided not to preorder.

I agree I've been really excited for Tatooine in this game. Yes there are MANY Star Wars Games but ever since the new EA Battlefronts and Battlefront II showing off how beautiful Mos Eisley can be in gameplay I've always wanted a free roam Tatooine since then. Im also ready to explore the new planets also.
Yeah agreed, a dev playing their game is going to make it easier as they have all the contextual knowledge going into it that new players just don’t have.
Im going to wait to see the final product. If it feels like Star Wars, I might pick it up on sale but companies like Ubisoft have lost this customers trust.

So, my issue with is solely Ubisoft. I feel they're take on open world is very dated, especially with games like Tears of the Kingdom, Elden Ring, etc. raising the bar with what open worlds could be. I'm still gonna give this a shot, it doesn't look bad at all but because of Ubisoft I don't have very high hopes for this TBH

I think I would like it if we were able to find special character blasters on top of the one we will probably have all the time that we can only use once per battle incounter, maybe it could be solos dl-44, or we could breafly duel wield jango's westar-34's. You do more damage but the enemy can remember you much better if you come back to the planet if your wanted.
interesting, but at the point when the person has been invited to press conferences, etc., the statement "I haven't been paid to say" doesn't hold much weight by itself. at that point, the person's opinion is no longer in the position of an ordinary person and it is clouded by privileges, no matter how honest the person is.+ there have often been occasions where a game is shown to few in advance and then when it is published it is rubbish. in such occasions the creators/publishers of the game decide what is seen, of course it's a Ubisoft game, so if you've played any of their open world games this latest one is unlikely to be all that different. the game is still overpriced and the DLC policy brazenly greedy. there is no impartial person and especially not if that person has been invited and made it to a unique press event and then to an amusement park. everything has a price. even when someone offers something for "free". and even if you have to pay for something, you have information that the rest of us don't have, and I assume that you can't tell some of it. and if you were really honest, the likelihood of getting into new press conferences would decrease astronomically. those who are really honest are rarely invited. there is certainly a lot of good and truth in this video, but how much is another question in itself. + of all the companies, at least in my opinion, Ubisoft and EA deserve the least right to another chance. + I would have liked the opportunity to create my own character. the first open world star wars game and no character creation is a real wasted opportunity in my opinion. of course, I admit I'm not the biggest star wars fan, but the idea of an open world star wars game has always intrigued me, this might be it, but since there is no character creation, I can't really paint my own star wars fantasies from the point of view of my (own character). I personally preferred silent characters in an open world, a so-called blank canvas that the player can fill with his own decisions. a voice-acted playable character is ok if you can choose what to say and there is a relatively large amount of choice in what to say*.
Ubisoft said I should be comfortable not owning their games, and that exactly what I’m going to do with this 😂

Never forget the skull and bones scam by Ubisoft, they knew it was an underbaked product that would flop and they released it anyways. The problem isn’t the non customizable character, it’s Ubisoft. Don’t buy it.
The only part I saw that enraged me was being able to incapacitate a stormtrooper just by a little slap in the helmet
It just looks bad. It doesn't look like anything that hasn't already been done. Why the hell is it so hard for devs to make a GOOD star wars game?? Game devs have been pushing mediocre games and slapping star wars on the label to sell them since the Atari days. Highly disappointing.

So glad I didn’t preorder. I usually play every Star Wars game and every assassins creed and call of duty. I haven’t preordered any of those and I don’t plan to until I play a beta and can make my decision.

You're awfully optimistic. Ubisoft doesn't care. They'll release the two expansions in the year after release. That's the bare MINIMUM they have to do as it's part of the collectors and gold edition. I don't expect anything major such as map expansions or new planets. Gotta keep those expectations low so you're never disappointed

Is anyone else a little disapointed about the sarlacc considering how threatening they made it seem in the lore and the fact the sarlacc can generally self regenerate and restore its body unless it took enough damage such as the krayt dragon eating the sarlacc?..
Granted recent star wars media has indirectly made it canon that there is more than 1 sarlacc pit on tattooine.

Such as the book of boba fett where the sarlacc was still alive when boba came back for his armor, and in legends boba visited the sarlacc numerous times and dropped explosives and shot it and even bombarded it from orbit with his ships cannons and the sarlacc survived every encounter and just kept regenerating undoing the damage that was done to it.
