Note: This option is only available for ClipStudio EX users, NOT available for basic ClipStudio Pro users. If you want the "convert to tone" tool in the layers menu you have to upgrade from PRO to EX.
Great video thanks for posting, I tried replicating this in Krita. 1) Create three layers (top to bottom: Multiply layer with a posterize and levels filter, Addition layer with unsharpenmask and threshhold, normal base layer) 2)Mess with the settings and layer order 3) and you'll get something that looks similar to this There's also like 6 different ways to do this.
Always wondered how they make these photorealistic backgrounds, didn't think it was as easy as just running a photo through some filters Used to think some poor bastard was actually drawing these with a pen somehow lol
Didn't you watch the whole video? To make it even look good, you have to repaint a lot of stuff later. It's more than just pressing a few buttons. Only converting the photo to lines and tones, especially when it's in low quality, makes the result look like shit.
You can change the line art color of the lines through changing the layer color and adjust the coloring of the overall objects from there, would not recommend using screen tone for colored backgrounds unless you're going for that look
@@REMCreates I'm drawing a colored anime picture and trying to make it look like a scene from an actual anime. I just don't have as much time to draw and have other projects I'd like to do so I'd like to use this trick if I can get it to look like a colored anime background instead of a Manga background. I'm coloring with cel shading I think is what they call it? I'm still new to this. And almost every video I've seen showing how to do this has been for a Manga background instead of just a cartoon background like you might use for a poster.

Thank you, been tweaking for hours...
Sheesh good thing I watched this
Thanks, you re an angel
Is it expensive to upgrade or do I jist have to pay for the remaining amount?
UGH THANKS

If you don’t have CSP EX you can use the artistic feature and it’s similar

You're back!!
Yes I am! Life has happened but slowly ramping back up :)
Me who draws fantasy.... *cries*
Fantasy takes from things in reality! You can always modify fantasy backgrounds from real buildings like castles
u can use 3d asset for it 🤌
Europe has millions of castles, churches and medieval villages you could use for a great base!
You can use germany buildings its similar to fantasy
I swear to God, I literally have to design the structures in my story😭
This was so full valuable information man 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯
Thanks, glad you found it helpful :)

For some reason the sharper filters won’t work and I’m on ex
Weird and disappointing
I did the same thing. My image can't edit at all. It doesn't support to edit that. Sad
thank you bro
I don't have the opción " convert to línea and tones" in mine...why could that be ..?
you might not have the version of clip studio that is needed for it. you need clip studio ex
For me nothing on the filter tab is available so i can't use this for some reason
You’re probably on CSP PRO
@Capital_minute no, I'm actually on ex. At the time, I was using the laptop. Maybe it's because of that. I haven't checked on the tablet yet.
Does this work if you want to do a colored background for a picture?
You can change the line art color of the lines through changing the layer color and adjust the coloring of the overall objects from there, would not recommend using screen tone for colored backgrounds unless you're going for that look

Honestly finally sm who doesn't only talk abt drawing chrchts
convert to lines and tones doesnt show up for me. Is this a version specific thing :(
I have Clip Studio Paint Ex for context, have not tried Pro or Debut
thankyou yeah this doesnt work in pro@@REMCreates
thanks to AI images this no longer feels like cheating.. YES!
But even mangankas use this dude
What?
….?
Use pencil
it was never cheating, as long as u use your own photo you're good, just making your job easier
When i convert lines and tones after i hit "save" the image is different from what was in "preview". Any idea whats going on?
Choose different settings for the lines, your photo is probably in low quality.
