I’ve put 4 hrs into this game so far and I’m well into spoiler territory this hurts to watch him not take alittle dmg to get 2 squirrels to then kill whatever creature is opposing and over all having more dmg lol

@@badsanta5785 I finished the (rest of the) game yesterday, but I missed a lot of content because I beat Act 1 too fast.
I think what I'm trying to say is... I guess it's better for NL to make mistakes and have fun than to spend ~32 hours beating up enemies with a 101/101 bifurcated strike.

That's the issue with the game: it has these horror elements but they don't work cause I am used to sacrificing my health in card games all the time. I mean I was Warlock Player in Hearthstone so nothing new.
Dude can remember random old movie quotes and shitty 90's top ten pop song lyrics, but forgets what the bullfrog sigil means in 5 seconds.

Little did NL know that the first deck is (in my opinion) the best deck in the game. You get to start with 2 wolves which is kinda busted

It actually won't help you in any way but you have one less backseat gamer and also it makes him angry.
Having watched NL's Super Auto Pets content, I KNOW he won't have any issues with sacrificing animals en masse in this game.

Bro, I know not everyone is Manly but holy hell every single streamer I've seen so far has been having problems with the simplest of gamestates.
Yeah, Manly's playthrough of this game is so superior that I can not force myself to watch anyone else play this game, especially not NL. At least he redeems himself with WarioWare, SAP and Repentance.

After all these years, this is finally the game that makes me unreasonably angry when I watch NL play it. Which was pretty fun, all things considered.
For me it's so close to literally every game he starts fresh, he doesn't any think at all whatsoever when he starts a game but then he goes and beats A20 all characters slay the spire etc and I pog. I've realised the trick is to skip ahead maybe 30-50 episodes of things like this until either he's good or he's way better than me as a beginner so I can't notice the misplays

@@silberner3848 Lets just say the truth, we all want the "4" of them to have their entire spiel just like our friend in the cabin. Honestly wish that was the reward for beating the game, getting the 4 different scribes. None the less, one of the best games I have ever played.

I'm glad to see someone playing the game without having tried it beforehand. I follow 3 more youtubers who played it, but I was very disappointed that they had prior experience playing it. I needed to see someone's first impression.
Should've watched the demo videos from the same youtubers. It's a large portion of the game.

I think he's used to Magic where the damage goes both directions. He mentioned that during the video.

Well, you replenish them so fast, and you don't even see the options as a new player if you don't have any slots available.
@@mawillix2018 but full pack item spot gets you a pack rat and early game is easy enough that’s worth grabbing asap
@@huckthatdish I'm talking about the experience for new players. I haven't watched every new player play the game, but the ones I've seen have failed to abuse packrat. (You'd have to gain 3 items back from packrat before making back a full stock of value, and even then it's without the choice of item)
Note that I'm talking about very new players, who still need to explore the game's options. As you learn more about the game, you can choose to optimize your plays, but for a new player the learning experience is important.

I've been playing this game for the last few days and absolutely love it, it is a roller coaster and a half. Can't wait to see NL's reactions as he progresses!

Made it 8 mins into the video before I was actually pogging so hard that I had to go buy the game. Spent the next 6 hours straight playing it and then came back to finish the video so i could see some of NLs reactions to some of the cooler parts of the game a little further in. My god is this game compelling I hope it gets a full playthrough from NL cause I'm loving playing it and cant wait to see the reactions to what's to come.

This style reminds me alot of Hand of Fate 2. Loved that game.
Ah, I've seen this in it's Beta Demo form. it used to be called "Sacrifices Must Be Made" and was a horror themed card game. Looks like it hasn't lost that horror theming.

Some valuable tips for you. If you haven't already rushed ahead and recorded dozens of videos on it.
Squirrels should not be used as shield walls, and if you can't get a meaningful play out.. don't waste a squirrel when you can get another one next turn and spawn a 2 cost.
Monsters only attack if they're during the turn of the owner. Otherwise they strictly defend.
The campfire can offer HP or DMG
I reccomend always buffing the stoat/stinkbug early with DMG..
-theyre both super useful early on.
The shrines that add sigils of sacrificed creatures can add additional sigils EVEN IF the card being buffed already has one on it.
Anyways that's some stuff. Hopefully you'll have discovered it for yourself though
The first tip is wrong.
Coming from someone who has finished the entire game with one loss, squirrels and vessels are great chump blockers as long as you're dealing more than you're taking.
NL showed that off in this very video. (While making a bunch of other misplays, but he was right about outpacing the enemy.)
Generally, you want to chump block with a squirrel if you will win next turn, or if waiting could end up killing you. (Usually this is because you have a airborne or spoilers creature.)
Like this for example:

The point I'm trying to make for NL is as a new player, it's not meaningful for him to drop squirrels to soak very WEAK attacks. When he has no easily deployable cards this early in his save file. Nor does he have the totem to make that strat viable.
NL is gonna take a bit to digest this game, hence why I tried to point out some simple tips over dropping him stats and examples of combat.
But he mentioned himself already, he has a predisposed way of thinking about card games (MTG) and he employs that mentality here alot.

The strategy is viable there, because he outpaces the enemy.
The stoat and the stinkbug are pretty awful the wolves, elks, and mantis are what you really need the most other than deathcards.
Played through this game yesterday and LOVED IT! It's got all the staples you expect from the Pony Island Dev, and I hope Egg keeps this rollin'. Can't wait to hear his thoughts.
