After changing my snowblower spark plug for 19 years I managed to cross thread number 20! The back tap was a life saver! Worked perfectly to chase the threads from the inside out and left no chips in the cylinder bore. Great bit of kit.
I used this tool to fix the number 5 plug hole on a 07 Suburban 5.3 motor. The trick is patience when you thread the tool out. If it sticks at all, reverse it back in and take your time.
Gerry you saved my sleep. I barely Cross threaded my GM pick up truck. (Alluminum head) But I did not want to cut new threads in wrong direction, as angle is confusing. No one seemed to know of this. Thank goodness you did. 🙏🏼 Lee, Florida
very interesting tool ive been a machinist for 25 yrs and seen alot of different thread repair tools but not that one. glad it works well. and dont worry even it you ripped all the treads clean out of there a way to repair it. i repair alot of motorcycle and small engine cylinder heads with a timesert spark plug repair kit it cuts over size if its 14mm it cuts 15.5mm outside with the same thread pitch and the insert threads in and locks into place never had one fail. but happy mowing when the rain stops
Hi John. This is Summer in Ireland and it has been raining on and off all week. 😢 I had a look at the timecert and they look really good. Thanks for sharing John Cheers Gerry👍👍
@@GerrysDiy well hopefully it doesnt rain as much next year in the summer my wife and i and going to be visiting the area for our 15th wedding anniversary in late may early june were going site seeing and to the TT on the isle of mann and then down thru the rest of the uk.
Nicely done. You are a rarity, with the heart of a good teacher. I've yet to attempt this repair for my mower, but it's defintely worth a try, since I'm likely facing an expensive repair or new mower if it doesn't work. There's little to lose, exept for the price of the reverse action spark plug chaser.
Thanks Gerry. I wish I had one of those years ago when I stripped the head on my old VW. Your videos are always informative and entertaining. Thanks again.
Hi Dan. My heart sank when the plug stripped out the thread. TH-cam to the rescue and I ordered the tool. It's great when it goes to plan. The mower lives again. Thanks for commenting Dan Cheers Gerry😀
Hi Gerry, That's a great tip! Never heard of that tool before. I've done a few with helicoils but that is a much more involved process. This is nice and easy. Thanks for sharing! -mike
Hi Mike. I found this one on TH-cam and thought I would give it a try first. Worked great and the grass is cut again. Hope it makes your life a little easier on the next one. Thanks for commenting Cheers Gerry
Hello Gerry, I'd never heard of this very useful tool before, in the past I've fitted a few helicoils, but if the threads aren't too far gone, this solution is far better and quicker too. You never stop to amaze me, and I'm wondering if there will ever be a video about something you didn't manage to invent, or repair. You really are a Jack of all trades, and master of all these trades too. ATB, Peter.
Hi Peter. Hope all is well with you. This little tool saved me a lot of time and money. I was looking at other solutions when I happened on this tool. TH-cam can be very useful. Thanks very much for commenting Peter Cheers Gerry 👍
Very interesting tool that really works a treat. Was wondering how it worked until I seen a close up. Nice fix and cheap for 20 yo yos. Should get a few misfortunetes out of trouble.
Hi Tom. These are super little tools and a cheap fix for my 2 cylinder engine. Got me out of trouble 20 minutes after it arrived in the post. 😀 Thanks for commenting Tom Cheers Gerry

Hi These are great little tools. Saved me having to mess with removing the head on my honda. Simply recut the thread and put in the new sparkplug. It's cutting grass ever since😃Thanks for taking the time to comment Cheers Gerry 👍
Hi Gerry, Good video. Always use "Anti seize" on sparkplugs threaded into aluminum heads. What was the name of that tool and where can it be purchased? Thanks fo so many interesting and well narrated videos.
Hi 28cruzin . The tool I bought was a 14mm reverse thread chaser tool amzn.to/2Mo9Ex8 I will link it in the description. Thanks for taking the time to comment Cheers Gerry👍
sir, the tool is not supposed to be pushed in once it has been unscrewed, because if you do, the chips will get into the cylinder. correct me if i'm wrong
