    i did NOT know you could bevel from a single point like that WTF. my mind is so blown right now. you can literally do anything with this program. its overwhelming!!

      What you can't do is volume select, so that if you change the topology, the same volume (of points, edges, or polygons) is selected. For non-parametric destructive editing, the program is great. But, doing things in a build-up, non-permanent way is very difficult or impossible, without manually saving history along the way.

      i love cinema and frankly i would never have any other program as my main, but you should try blender, your mind would be blown by the things you can do... Cinema4d for me is the better modelling software and has the best system for rendering with its advanced and seemingly perfect rendering system.

    thanks a million, this was so useful as I'm just making the leap from physical sculptor into digital low poly modeling. Great content, I'm definitely sold on your tutorials just from this alone. Cheers.

    This was amazingly useful! I actually never new about the depth in the bevel tool (never really tried it out)
    Very useful!

    If I were doing a game wouldn't it be better to just use lesser subdivisions ? like maybe have it to be around 8 edges for the cylinder ? Other than that yeah it was some good info. For me , the connect edges would be a pain. I would rather have extruded inner with a perfect square and and use subdivisions to get it round maybe with 1 sub level to get all quads having also good topology

    • @DIGITALMEAT
      @DIGITALMEAT  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes of course the circles subdivisions could be be lower, i was more focusing on the plane itself. there is no point having a subdivided plane if it can be described in one poly.

    There's a problem I'm having with this: as soon as I grab the point and try to bevel it, I get green lines (N-gons) going from the center to the corners, while you don't. Despite having both "N-gon" options disabled for the bevel tool....don't know why that's happening....

    • @DIGITALMEAT
      @DIGITALMEAT  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because you have N-gone lines turned on for display, to turn them off go to "filter" above the viewport window, then uncheck N-gon lines.

    • @DanielsGameVault
      @DanielsGameVault 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Isn't it undesirable to have n-gons in the first place ? That's what my brief knowledge that I've acquired so far is telling me at least....

    • @DIGITALMEAT
      @DIGITALMEAT  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you don't want N-gons which is why i make quads towards the end

    man... I have so many questions. Like, what is the shortcut to bring up the menu that you brought up at the 1:51 mark? Also, this may seem like a dumb question, but how are you navigating your scene without having to use the obnoxious camera controls in the top right corner? Any help you can offer would be SUPER appreciated!

    • @DIGITALMEAT
      @DIGITALMEAT  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems you are just beginning so let me help you out.
      To bring up the menu at 1:51, Right Click anywhere in the viewport.
      For navigation:
      Alt + left click and drag for rotation
      Alt + Middle mouse button and drag to pan
      Alt + Right click and drag to zoom (alternatively use the scroll wheel)

      DIGITAL MEAT, you rock hard! Thanks for your help. If I have more questions, would you be willing to answer them for me? Would I need to PM you for additional questions, or just throw them up on any wall of your tuts? Thanks again!

      Sorry dude, but i can't do that, I get many requests for this everyday, and if I said yes i'd never get anything done. Between running Digital Meat, producing tutorials, and working as a 3D Freelancer I really don't have the time to personally tutor someone unless it was paid work, sorry, hope you understand.

    Cinema 4D has made this is way more complicated than it should be, it would take me two seconds to cut a hole in a plane in Photoshop.

    And then you create lots of n-gons (first example).. I have used this technique as well, but you have to fix those n-gons.
